1 Nel decimo anno, il dodici del decimo mese, mi giunse la parola del Signore:	1 On the twelfth day of the tenth month in the tenth year, the word of the LORD came to me:
2 "Figlio dell'uomo, rivolgi la faccia contro il faraone, re d'Egitto, e profetizza contro di lui e contro tutto l'Egitto.	2 Son of man, set your face against Pharaoh, king of Egypt, and prophesy against him and against all Egypt.
3 Parla e di': Così dice Dio, il Signore Dio: Eccomi contro di te, o faraone, re d'Egitto, grande coccodrillo che sta nel delta e che dice: "Mio è il delta, io l'ho fatto".	3 Say this to him: Thus says the Lord GOD: See! I am coming at you, Pharaoh, king of Egypt, Great crouching monster amidst your Niles: Who say, "The Niles are mine; it is I who made them!"
4 Ecco, metterò ganci alle tue mascelle e farò che i pesci del tuo delta si attacchino alle tue squame, poi ti farò salire fuori del tuo delta con tutti i pesci del tuo delta attaccati alle tue squame.	4 I will put hooks in your jaws and make the fish of your Niles stick to your scales, then draw you up from the midst of your Niles along with all the fish of your Niles sticking to your scales.
5 Ti getterò nel deserto con tutti i pesci del tuo delta; cadrai in aperta campagna, non sarai raccolto né seppellito; ti do in pasto agli animali della terra e agli uccelli del cielo.	5 I will cast you into the desert, you and all the fish of your Niles; You shall fall upon the open field, you shall not be taken up or buried; To the beasts of the earth and the birds of the air I give you as food,
6 Tutti i regnanti d'Egitto riconosceranno che io sono il Signore, poiché furono un appoggio di canna alla casa d'Israele.	6 That all who dwell in Egypt may know that I am the LORD. Because you have been a reed staff for the house of Israel:
7 Quando ti afferrarono ti rompesti e si lacerarono tutta la palma. Quando ti si appoggiavano ti spezzasti e facesti vacillare i loro fianchi.	7 When they held you in hand, you splintered, throwing every shoulder out of joint; When they leaned on you, you broke, bringing each one of them down headlong;
8 Perciò così dice il Signore Dio: Ecco, faccio venire la spada su di te e reciderò via uomini e animali.	8 therefore thus says the Lord GOD: See! I will bring the sword against you, and cut off from you both man and beast.
9 Il paese d'Egitto diverrà una desolazione e una devastazione. Riconosceranno che io sono il Signore. Poiché disse: "Il delta è mio, io l'ho fatto",	9 The land of Egypt shall become a desolate waste; thus they shall know that I am the LORD. Because you said, "The Niles are mine; it is I who made them,"
10 eccomi contro di te e il tuo delta: renderò il paese d'Egitto una devastazione della spada, desolazione da Migdòl ad Assuan, fino ai confini con l'Etiopia.	10 therefore see! I am coming at you and against your Niles; I will make the land of Egypt a waste and a desolation from Migdol to Syene, and even to the frontier of Ethiopia.
11 Non vi passerà più piede d'uomo, piede d'animale non vi passerà più e non sarà abitato per quarant'anni.	11 No foot of man or beast shall pass through it; they shall not pass through it, and it will be uninhabited for forty years.
12 Renderò il paese d'Egitto una desolazione tra i paesi più desolati e, tra le città devastate, le sue città saranno una desolazione per quarant'anni. Disseminerò gli Egiziani tra le genti e li disperderò per il mondo.	12 I will make the land of Egypt the most desolate of lands, and its cities shall be the most deserted of cities for forty years; and I will scatter the Egyptians among the nations and strew them over foreign lands.
13 Sì! Così dice il Signore Dio: Al termine dei quarant'anni radunerò gli Egiziani di tra i popoli dove furono disseminati.	13 Yet thus says the Lord GOD: At the end of forty years I will gather the Egyptians from the peoples among whom they are scattered,
14 Capovolgerò la prigionia degli Egiziani e li ricondurrò al paese di Patros, al loro paese d'origine e là saranno un piccolo regno.	14 and I will restore Egypt's fortune, bringing them back to the land of Pathros, the land of their origin, where it will be the lowliest
15 Tra i regni sarà piccolo e non si innalzerà più sopra le genti; li rimpicciolirò perché non opprimano le genti.	15 of kingdoms, never more to set itself above the nations. I will make them few, that they may not dominate the nations.
16 Non sarà più per la casa d'Israele un appoggio fidato, ma denuncerà la colpa di quando si rivolgeva a lui. Riconosceranno che io sono il Signore Dio".	16 No longer shall they be for the house of Israel to trust in, but the living reminder of its guilt for having turned to follow after them. Thus they shall know that I am the LORD.
17 Nel ventisettesimo anno, all'inizio, il primo del mese, mi giunse la seguente parola del Signore:	17 On the first day of the first month in the twenty-seventh year, the word of the LORD came to me:
18 "Figlio dell'uomo, Nabucodònosor, re di Babilonia, ha richiesto al suo esercito una faticosa prestazione contro Tiro. Ogni testa è tosata e ogni dorso è teso, ma non venne premio alcuno per lui e per il suo esercito da Tiro, per la prestazione sostenuta contro di essa.	18 Son of man, Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon, has led his army in an exhausting campaign against Tyre. Their heads became bald and their shoulders were galled; but neither he nor his army received any wages from Tyre for the campaign he led against it.
19 Perciò così dice il Signore Dio: Ecco, io do a Nabucodònosor, re di Babilonia, il paese d'Egitto; gli toglierà la potenza, lo deprederà, ne farà bottino; così esso sarà il premio per il suo esercito!	19 Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: I am now giving the land of Egypt to Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon. He shall carry off its riches, plundering and pillaging it for the wages of his soldiers, who did it for me;
20 Come guadagno per la prestazione contro Tiro gli do il paese d'Egitto; perché l'hanno fatto per me, oracolo del Signore Dio.	20 as payment for his toil I have given him the land of Egypt, says the Lord GOD.
21 Allora farò sorgere il potere per la casa d'Israele e renderò autorevole la tua bocca in mezzo a loro. Riconosceranno che io sono il Signore".	21 On that day I will make a horn sprout for the house of Israel, and I will cause you to speak out in their midst; thus they shall know that I am the LORD.
