Isaia 14

LA SACRA BIBBIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Certamente il Signore avrà pietà di Giacobbe e sceglierà ancora Israele, li ristabilirà sulla loro terra; lo straniero si unirà ad essi e sarà incorporato alla casa di Giacobbe.	1 Yahweh wil have pity on Jacob, he wil choose Israel once more and resettle them on their native soil.Foreigners will join them, attaching themselves to the House of Jacob.
2 I popoli li prenderanno e li condurranno nel loro paese; la casa di Israele se li approprierà sul suolo del Signore come servi e serve e faranno prigionieri quelli che li avevano fatti prigionieri e domineranno sui loro oppressori.	2 Peoples wil take them and escort them home, and the House of Israel wil take them as slaves, menand women on Yahweh's soil. They wil enslave those who enslaved them and wil master their oppressors.
3 Nel giorno in cui il Signore ti avrà liberato dalla tua pena, dalla tua irrequietezza e dalla dura servitù con la quale sei stato asservito,	3 When that day comes, and Yahweh gives you rest from your suffering and torment and the grimservitude to which you have been subjected,
4 tu proferirai questa satira contro il re di Babilonia e dirai: "Come è finito l'oppressore, è cessata l'arroganza!	4 you wil recite this satire on the king of Babylon and say: 'How did the tyrant end? How did hisarrogance end?
5 Il Signore ha spezzato la verga degli iniqui, lo scettro dei dominatori,	5 Yahweh has broken the staff of the wicked, the sceptre of rulers,
6 colui che furioso colpiva i popoli con colpi senza fine, che collerico dominava le nazioni, perseguitando senza respiro.	6 furiously lashing peoples with continual blows, angrily hammering nations, pursuing without respite.
7 Tutta la terra si riposa, è tranquilla, erompe in grida di gioia.	7 The whole world is at rest and calm, shouts of joy resounding,
8 Anche i cipressi gioiscono per te e i cedri del Libano: "Da quando giaci prostrato, i tagliaboschi non salgono più contro di noi".	8 the cypresses, the cedars of Lebanon, rejoice aloud at your fate, "Now that you have been laid low, noone comes up to fell us."
9 Dal basso gli inferi si agitano per te, per farsi incontro al tuo arrivo; per te esso risveglia le ombre, tutti i potenti della terra; ha fatto sorgere dai loro troni tutti i re delle nazioni.	9 'On your account, Sheol below is astir to greet your arrival. He has roused the ghosts to greet you, althe rulers of the world. He has made al the kings of the nations get up from their thrones.
10 Tutti prendono la parola per dirti: "Anche tu sei stato fiaccato come noi, sei diventato simile a noi!".	10 They will all greet you with the words, "So, you too are now as weak as we are! You, too, havebecome like us.
11 Il tuo fasto è disceso negli inferi, come la musica delle tue arpe. Sotto di te si stendono le larve, i vermi sono la tua coperta.	11 Your pride has been flung down to Sheol with the music of your lyres; under you a mattress ofmaggots, over you a blanket of worms.
12 Come sei caduto dal cielo, astro del mattino, figlio dell'aurora! Come fosti precipitato a terra, tu che aggredivi tutte le nazioni!	12 How did you come to fal from the heavens, Daystar, son of Dawn? How did you come to be thrown tothe ground, conqueror of nations?
13 Eppure tu pensavi in cuor tuo: "Salirò in cielo, al di sopra delle stelle di Dio erigerò il mio trono. Siederò sul monte dell'assemblea, ai confini del settentrione.	13 You who used to think to yourself: I shal scale the heavens; higher than the stars of God I shall setmy throne. I shal sit on the Mount of Assembly far away to the north.
14 Salirò sulle nubi più alte, sarò simile all'Altissimo".	14 I shal climb high above the clouds, I shal rival the Most High."
15 E invece sei stato precipitato negli inferi, nelle profondità dell'abisso!	15 Now you have been flung down to Sheol, into the depths of the abyss!
16 Quanti ti vedono, ti guardano fisso, verso di te guardano. "Questi è colui che faceva tremare la terra e faceva scuotere i regni,	16 'When they see you, they will scrutinise you and consider what you have become, "Is this the manwho made the world tremble, who overthrew kingdoms?
17 che ridusse il mondo in deserto, demolì le sue città, e non aprì ai suoi prigionieri il carcere?	17 He made the world a desert, he level ed cities and never freed his prisoners to go home."
18 Tutti i re delle nazioni, tutti riposano gloriosi ognuno nella propria tomba;	18 Al other kings of nations, al of them, lie honourably, each in his own tomb;
19 tu, invece, sei stato gettato insepolto come un abominevole rampollo, coperto da uccisi, da trafitti di spada, deposti sulle pietre della fossa, come una carogna calpestata!	19 but you have been thrown away, unburied, like a loathsome branch, covered with heaps of the slainpierced by the sword who fal on the rocks of the abyss like trampled carrion.
20 Tu non sarai insieme ad essi nella sepoltura, poiché hai rovinato il tuo paese, hai massacrato il tuo popolo. Non sarà nominata la discendenza degli iniqui.	20 'You wil not rejoin them in the grave, for you have brought your country to ruin and destroyed yourpeople. The offspring of the wicked leave no name behind them.
21 Preparate il massacro per i suoi figli, a causa dell'iniquità dei loro padri, non sorgeranno più per conquistare la terra e coprire la faccia del mondo di rovine".	21 Make ready to slaughter his sons for the guilt of their father! Never again must they rise to conquer theworld and cover the face of the earth with their cities.
22 Insorgerò contro di loro, oracolo del Signore degli eserciti, e distruggerò di Babilonia il nome ed il resto, stirpe e discendenza. Oracolo del Signore.	22 'I wil rise against them, declares Yahweh Sabaoth, and deprive Babylon of name, remnant, offspringand posterity, declares Yahweh.
23 La renderò possesso del riccio, una palude stagnante! la spazzerò con la scopa della distruzione. Oracolo del Signore degli eserciti".	23 I shal turn it into the haunt of hedgehogs, a swamp. I shal sweep it with the broom of destruction,declares Yahweh Sabaoth.'
24 Il Signore degli eserciti ha giurato: "Certo, come ho pensato, così sarà, e come ho deciso, così succederà!	24 Yahweh Sabaoth has sworn it, 'Yes, what I have planned wil take place, what I have decided will beso:
25 Spezzerò l'Assiro nella mia terra e sui miei monti lo calpesterò. Il suo giogo sarà rimosso da essi, ed il suo peso sarà rimosso dalle loro spalle".	25 'I shal break Assyria in my country, I shal trample on him on my mountains. Then his yoke wil slip offthem, his burden wil slip from their shoulders.'
26 Questa è la decisione presa per tutta la terra e questa è la mano distesa su tutte le nazioni.	26 This is the decision taken in defiance of the whole world; this, the hand outstretched in defiance of alnations.
27 Quando il Signore degli eserciti prende una decisione, chi la potrà annullare? E quando la sua mano è distesa, chi potrà fargliela ritirare?	27 Once Yahweh Sabaoth has decided, who wil stop him? Once he stretches out his hand, who canwithdraw it?
28 Nell'anno della morte del re Acaz fu pronunziato questo oracolo:	28 In the year Ahaz died came this proclamation:
29 "Non rallegrarti, Filistea tutta intera, che la verga che ti percuote è stata spezzata! Poiché dalla radice del serpente uscirà una vipera, e il suo frutto sarà un drago volante.	29 Al Philistia, do not rejoice because the rod which used to beat you is now broken, for the serpentstock wil produce a viper, its offspring wil be a flying dragon.
30 I poveri pascoleranno sui miei prati e i miseri riposeranno sicuri, ma farò morire di fame la tua posterità e ucciderò ciò che resta di te.	30 While the first-born of the poor are grazing and the destitute are resting in safety, I shall make yourstock die of hunger and then slaughter what remains of you.
31 Gemi, o porta, urla, o città, trema, Filistea tutta quanta! Poiché dal settentrione arriva un fumo, e nessuno si sbanda nelle sue schiere".	31 Howl, gate! Shriek, city! Totter, all Philistia! For a smoke is coming from the north, and there are nodeserters in those battalions.
32 Che risposta si darà ai messaggeri della nazione? "Il Signore ha fondato Sion, in essa trovano rifugio i poveri del popolo".	32 What reply wil be given then to the messengers of that nation? - That Yahweh founded Zion andthere the poor of his people will find refuge.
