LA SACRA BIBBIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Quando divenne re, Manasse aveva dodici anni; egli regnò a Gerusalemme cinquantacinque anni.	1 Manasseh was twelve years old when he came to the throne, and he reigned for fifty-five years inJerusalem.
2 Fece ciò che è male agli occhi del Signore, seguendo le abominazioni delle nazioni che il Signore aveva scacciato davanti agl'Israeliti.	2 He did what is displeasing to Yahweh, copying the disgusting practices of the nations whom Yahwehhad dispossessed for the Israelites.
3 Egli ricostruì le alture che Ezechia, suo padre, aveva abbattuto, eresse altari ai Baal, fece i pali sacri, adorò tutto l'esercito del cielo e lo servì.	3 He rebuilt the high places which his father Hezekiah had demolished, he set up altars to Baal andmade sacred poles, he worshipped the whole array of heaven and served it.
4 Fece erigere altari nel tempio del Signore, del quale il Signore aveva detto: "A Gerusalemme il mio nome rimarrà per sempre".	4 He built altars in the Temple of Yahweh, of which Yahweh had said, 'My name wil be in Jerusalem forever.'
5 Costruì altari a tutto l'esercito del cielo nei due cortili del tempio del Signore.	5 He built altars to the whole array of heaven in the two courts of the Temple of Yahweh.
6 Fu lui che fece passare i suoi figli attraverso il fuoco nella valle di Ben-Innòm; praticò l'astrologia, la magia e la divinazione stabilendo negromanti e indovini; moltiplicò il male agli occhi del Signore, in modo da provocarne lo sdegno.	6 He caused his sons to pass through the fire of sacrifice in the Val ey of Ben-Hinnom. He practisedsoothsaying, divination and sorcery, and had dealings with mediums and spirit-guides. He did very many morethings displeasing to Yahweh, thus provoking his anger.
7 Collocò la statua dell'idolo, che si era fatta, nel tempio di Dio, del quale Dio aveva detto a Davide e a Salomone, suo figlio: "In questo tempio ed in Gerusalemme, che ho scelto tra tutte le tribù d'Israele, porrò il mio nome per sempre.	7 He put a sculpted image, an idol which he had had made, inside the Temple of which God had said toDavid and his son Solomon, 'In this Temple and in Jerusalem, the city which I have chosen out of al the tribes ofIsrael, I shal put my name for ever.
8 Non voglio che il piede d'Israele si allontani più dal suolo che ho destinato ai loro padri, a condizione che si impegnino a eseguire tutto ciò che ho loro comandato secondo tutta la legge, i decreti e le disposizioni date per mezzo di Mosè".	8 Nor shal I ever again remove Israel's foot from the soil on which I established your ancestors oncondition that they were careful to observe al I commanded them as laid down in the whole Law, the statutesand the ordinances, given through Moses.'
9 Ma Manasse sviò Giuda e gli abitanti di Gerusalemme in modo che essi agirono peggio delle nazioni che il Signore aveva distrutto di fronte agl'Israeliti.	9 But Manasseh misled Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem into doing worse things than the nationswhich Yahweh had destroyed for the Israelites.
10 Il Signore parlò a Manasse e al suo popolo, ma essi non prestarono attenzione.	10 When Yahweh spoke to Manasseh and his people, they would not listen.
11 Allora il Signore fece marciare contro di essi i capi dell'esercito del re di Assiria; questi presero Manasse con uncini e, legatolo con doppia catena di bronzo, lo condussero in Babilonia.	11 Yahweh then brought down on them the generals of the king of Assyria's army who capturedManasseh with hooks, put him in chains and took him to Babylon.
12 Trovandosi in angustia Manasse implorò il Signore, suo Dio, e si umiliò profondamente davanti al Dio dei suoi padri.	12 While in his distress, he placated Yahweh his God by genuinely humbling himself before the God ofhis ancestors.
13 Lo supplicò e fu esaudito; il Signore ascoltò la sua supplica e lo ricondusse a Gerusalemme nel suo regno. Allora Manasse riconobbe che il Signore è Dio!	13 When he prayed to him, he was moved by his entreaty, heard his supplication and brought him backto Jerusalem to his kingdom. Manasseh realised then that Yahweh is God.
14 Dopo di ciò egli costruì un muro esterno alla Città di Davide, a occidente di Ghicon nella valle, fino alla porta dei Pesci, tutto intorno all'Ofel e lo fece molto alto. Poi stabilì dei capi dell'esercito in tutte le città fortificate di Giuda.	14 Afterwards, he rebuilt the outer wall of the City of David, to the west of Gihon, in the val ey, up to theFish Gate and round the Ophel, and made it very much higher. And he stationed military governors in al thefortified towns of Judah.
15 Fece sparire dal tempio del Signore gli dèi stranieri e l'idolo, come anche tutti gli altari che aveva costruito sulla collina del tempio del Signore e in Gerusalemme e li gettò fuori della città.	15 He also removed the foreign gods and the idol from the Temple of Yahweh, as well as all the altarswhich he had built on the mountain of the Temple of Yahweh and in Jerusalem, and threw them out of the city.
16 Quindi ristabilì l'altare del Signore offrendo sopra di esso sacrifici pacifici e di lode e ordinò ai Giudei di servire il Signore, Dio d'Israele.	16 He repaired the altar of Yahweh and offered communion sacrifices and thanksgiving offerings on it,and commanded Judah to serve Yahweh, God of Israel.
17 Tuttavia il popolo continuava a offrire sacrifici sulle alture, ma solamente in onore del Signore, suo Dio.	17 The people, however, went on sacrificing at the high places, although only to Yahweh their God.
18 Il resto degli atti di Manasse, la preghiera che egli rivolse al suo Dio e le parole dei veggenti che gli parlarono in nome del Signore, Dio d'Israele, sono scritti negli Atti dei re d'Israele.	18 The rest of the history of Manasseh, his prayer to his God, and the prophecies of the seers whospoke to him in the name of Yahweh, God of Israel, can be found in the Annals of the Kings of Israel.
19 La sua preghiera e come fu esaudito, ogni suo peccato e infedeltà, i luoghi sui quali eresse le alture e drizzò pali sacri e idoli prima di essere umiliato, è scritto negli Atti di Cozai.	19 His prayer and how God was moved by his entreaty, all his sins, his infidelity, the sites where he builthigh places and set up sacred poles and idols before humbling himself, are set down in the records of Hozai.
20 Manasse si addormentò con i suoi padri e fu sepolto nel giardino della sua casa. Al suo posto regnò Amòn, suo figlio.	20 Then Manasseh fel asleep with his ancestors and was buried in the garden of his palace. His sonAmon succeeded him.
21 Quando cominciò a regnare Amòn aveva ventidue anni e regnò due anni a Gerusalemme.	21 Amon was twenty-two years old when he came to the throne, and he reigned for two years inJerusalem.
22 Fece ciò che è male agli occhi del Signore, come aveva fatto Manasse, suo padre. Amòn offrì sacrifici a tutti gli idoli che Manasse, suo padre, aveva fatto costruire e li servì.	22 He did what is displeasing to Yahweh, as his father Manasseh had done, for Amon sacrificed to althe images which his father Manasseh had made, and served them.
23 Non si umiliò davanti al Signore come s'era umiliato Manasse, suo padre, anzi egli, Amòn, aumentò le sue colpe.	23 He did not humble himself before Yahweh as his father Manasseh had done; on the contrary, Amonwilfully added to his guilt.
24 I suoi servi fecero una congiura contro di lui e lo uccisero nella sua casa.	24 His retinue plotted against him and killed him in his own palace.
25 Allora il popolo del paese colpì a morte tutti quelli che avevano cospirato contro il re Amòn e il popolo del paese proclamò re al suo posto Giosia, suo figlio.	25 The people of the country, however, slaughtered al those who had plotted against King Amon andproclaimed his son Josiah as his successor.
