1 Davide convocò a Gerusalemme tutti i capi d'Israele, i capi delle tribù, i capi delle varie classi che erano al servizio del re, i capi delle migliaia e delle centinaia, gli incaricati di tutti i beni e di tutto il bestiame appartenente al re ed ai suoi figli, insieme agli eunuchi, ai prodi e a tutti i valorosi guerrieri.	1 And so David called together all the leaders of Israel, the rulers of the tribes, and those in charge of the companies, who were ministering to the king, and also the tribunes and centurions, and those in charge of the substance and possessions of the king, and his sons, with the eunuchs and the powerful and those most experienced in the army, at Jerusalem.
2 Davide si alzò in piedi e disse: "Ascoltatemi, miei fratelli e mio popolo! Io stesso avevo in mente di costruire una dimora di riposo per l'arca dell'alleanza del Signore, sgabello dei piedi del nostro Dio. Avevo già fatto i preparativi per la costruzione,	2 And when the king had risen up and was standing, he said: “Listen to me, my brothers and my people. I thought that I would build a house, in which the ark of the covenant of the Lord, the footstool of our God, might rest. And so I prepared everything for its building.
3 ma Dio mi disse: "Non costruirai un tempio al mio nome, perché tu sei un guerriero e versasti sangue".	3 But God said to me: ‘You shall not build a house to my name, because you are a man of war, and have shed blood.’
4 Il Signore, Dio d'Israele, scelse me fra tutta la famiglia di mio padre, perché diventassi re su Israele per sempre; difatti egli si è scelto un principe in Giuda e nella casa di Giuda ha scelto il casato di mio padre e nel casato di mio padre ha posto la sua compiacenza in me, per costituirmi re su tutto Israele.	4 Now the Lord God of Israel chose me, out of the entire house of my father, so that I would be king over Israel forever. For from Judah he chose leaders; then from the house of Judah he chose the house of my father; and from the sons of my father, it pleased him to choose me as king over all of Israel.
5 Fra tutti i miei figli, poiché il Signore mi concesse numerosi figli, scelse mio figlio Salomone, perché sedesse sul trono del regno del Signore sopra Israele.	5 Then too, among my sons (for the Lord has given me many sons) he chose Solomon my son, so that he would sit upon the throne of the kingdom of the Lord, over Israel.
6 Egli infatti mi disse: "Salomone tuo figlio costruirà il mio tempio e i miei cortili, perché mi sono scelto lui come figlio e io sarò per lui come un padre.	6 And he said to me: ‘Solomon your son shall build my house and my courts. For I have chosen him to be to me as a son, and I will be to him as a father.
7 Renderò saldo il suo regno per sempre, se persevererà nell'osservanza dei miei comandamenti e dei miei precetti, come fa oggi".	7 And I will make firm his kingdom, even unto eternity, if he will persevere in doing my precepts and judgments, as also today.’
8 Ora, al cospetto di tutto Israele, assemblea del Signore, e in presenza del nostro Dio vi esorto: osservate e praticate tutti i precetti del Signore, vostro Dio, perché possiate conservare il possesso di questo eccellente paese e passarlo in eredità ai vostri figli dopo di voi, per sempre.	8 Now therefore, before the entire assembly of Israel, in the hearing of our God, keep and seek all the commandments of the Lord our God, so that you may possess the good land, and may bequeath it to your sons after you, even forever.
9 Tu, figlio mio Salomone, riconosci il Dio di tuo padre, servilo con cuore perfetto e con animo volonteroso, perché il Signore scruta tutti i cuori e penetra i pensieri più intimi; se tu lo ricercherai, si farà trovare; se lo abbandonerai, ti rigetterà per sempre.	9 And as for you, my son Solomon, know the God of your father, and serve him with a perfect heart and a willing mind. For the Lord searches all hearts, and understands the thoughts of all minds. If you seek him, you will find him. But if you abandon him, he will cast you aside for eternity.
10 Ora considera che il Signore ti ha scelto per costruirgli un tempio come santuario; sii forte e mettiti all'opera!".	10 Now therefore, since the Lord has chosen you, so that you would build the house of the Sanctuary, be strengthened and accomplish it.”
11 Davide consegnò a Salomone, suo figlio, il progetto del vestibolo, dei suoi edifici, dei magazzini, delle stanze superiori, delle camere interne e del luogo per il propiziatorio,	11 Then David gave to his son Solomon a description of the portico, and the temple, and the storerooms, and the upper floor, and the innermost rooms, and the house of propitiation,
12 in più il progetto di tutto ciò che aveva in mente di fare riguardo ai cortili del tempio del Signore e di tutte le stanze laterali, ai tesori del tempio di Dio e ai tesori delle cose sacre,	12 and indeed also of all the courts that he had planned, and the outer rooms on all sides, for the treasuries of the house of the Lord, and for the treasuries of the holy things,
13 alle classi dei sacerdoti e dei leviti, a tutto il lavoro relativo al servizio del tempio del Signore e a tutti gli utensili che servivano per il tempio del Signore.	13 and for the divisions of the priests and the Levites: concerning all the works of the house of the Lord and all the items in the ministry of the temple of the Lord.
14 Davide consegnò l'oro indicandone il peso, per tutti gli oggetti destinati ai singoli usi, e l'argento indicandone il peso, per tutti gli oggetti d'argento, secondo il particolare impiego,	14 There was gold by weight for every vessel of the ministry, and also silver by weight for the diversity of vessels and equipment.
15 i candelabri d'oro e le loro lampade dorate secondo il peso di ciascun candelabro e delle sue lampade, i candelabri d'argento secondo il peso del candelabro e delle sue lampade, secondo l'uso di ogni candelabro.	15 Then too, he distributed gold for the lampstands and their lamps, according to the measure of each of the lampstands with their lamps. Similarly also, he distributed silver by weight for the silver lampstands with their lamps, according to the diversity of their measure.
16 Gli indicò il quantitativo dell'oro per le tavole dell'offerta, per ogni tavola, e dell'argento per le tavole d'argento,	16 Also, he gave gold for the tables of the presence, according to the diversity of the tables; similarly too, he gave silver for the other tables of silver.
17 oro puro per i forchettoni, le bacinelle e le brocche, le coppe d'oro con il peso di ogni coppa e le coppe d'argento con il peso di ciascuna coppa.	17 Also, he distributed from the purest gold for the small hooks and the bowls and the censors, as well as for the little lions of gold, in accord with the precise measure of the weight, for lion after lion. Similarly too, for the lions of silver, he set aside a different weight of silver.
18 Gli diede oro per l'altare dei profumi indicandone il peso, il modello del carro in oro dei cherubini che spiegavano le loro ali e proteggevano l'arca dell'alleanza del Signore.	18 Then, for the altar on which the incense was burned, he gave the purest gold. And from the same he made the likeness of the chariot of the Cherubim, with extended wings, which is veiling the ark of the covenant of the Lord.
19 Tutto ciò gli diede per iscritto da parte del Signore, per fargli comprendere tutti i dettagli del modello.	19 “All these things,” he said, “came to me written by the hand of the Lord, so that I would understand all the works of the pattern.”
20 Davide disse a Salomone, figlio suo: "Sii forte, fatti coraggio, mettiti all'opera, non temere, non abbatterti, perché il Signore Dio, il mio Dio, è con te. Egli non ti lascerà e non ti abbandonerà, finché non avrai terminato tutto il lavoro al servizio del tempio del Signore.	20 David also said to his son Solomon: “Act manfully, and be strengthened, and carry it out. You should not be afraid, and you should not be dismayed. For the Lord my God will be with you, and he will not send you away, nor will he abandon you, until you have perfected the entire work of the ministry of the house of the Lord.
21 Ecco le classi dei sacerdoti e dei leviti per ogni servizio del tempio di Dio. Sono a tua disposizione per ogni lavoro, esperti in ogni attività; i capi e tutto il popolo sono ai tuoi ordini".	21 Behold, the divisions of the priests and the Levites, for every ministry of the house of the Lord, are standing before you. And they have been prepared, and so they know, both the leaders and the people, how to carry out all your precepts.”
