1 And so I beg you, first of all, to make supplications, prayers, petitions, and thanksgivings for all men,	1 Raccomando adunque prima di tutto, che si facciano suppliche, orazioni, voti, ringraziamenti per tutti gli uomini:
2 for kings, and for all who are in high places, so that we may lead a quiet and tranquil life in all piety and chastity.	2 Pei Regi, e per tutti i costituiti in posto sublime, affinchè meniamo vita quieta, e tranquilla con tutta pietà, ed onestà:
3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior,	3 Imperocché questo è ben fatto, e grato nel cospetto del Salvatore Dio nostro,
4 who wants all men to be saved and to arrive at an acknowledgment of the truth.	4 Il quale vuole, che tutti gli uominisi salvino, ed arrivino al conoscimento della verità.
5 For there is one God, and one mediator of God and of men, the man Christ Jesus,	5 Imperocché Dio è uno, uno anche il mediatore tra Dio, e gli uomini, uomo Cristo Gesù:
6 who gave himself as a redemption for all, as a testimony in its proper time.	6 Il quale diede se stesso in redenzione per tutti, testimone nel debito tempo:
7 Of this testimony, I have been appointed a preacher and an Apostle, (I speak the truth, I do not lie) as a teacher of the Gentiles, in faith and in truth.	7 Al qual fine son io stato costituito predicatore, e Apostolo (dico la verità, non mentisco) dottore delle genti per la fede, e per la verità.
8 Therefore, I want men to pray in every place, lifting up pure hands, without anger or dissension.	8 Bramo adunque, che gli uomini orino in ogni luogo, alzando pure le mani, scevri d'ira, e di dissensione.
9 Similarly also, women should be dressed fittingly, adorning themselves with compunction and restraint, and not with plaited hair, nor gold, nor pearls, nor costly attire,	9 Similmente anche le donne nel lor vestire decente si ornino di verecondia, e modestia, non con i capelli arricciati, né con oro, o perle, o con vestimenta preziose:
10 but in a manner proper for women who are professing piety by means of good works.	10 Ma con le buone opere, come a donne conviensi, che fan professione di pietà.
11 Let a woman learn in silence with all subjection.	11 La donna impari in silenzio con tutta dipendenza.
12 For I do not permit a woman to teach, nor to be in authority over a man, but to be in silence.	12 Non permetto alla donna il fare da maestra, né il dominar sopra l'uomo: ma che stia cheta.
13 For Adam was formed first, then Eve.	13 Imperciocché Adamo fu formato il primo, e poi Eva:
14 And Adam was not seduced, but the woman, having been seduced, was in transgression.	14 E Adamo non fu sedotto, ma la donna sedotta prevaricò.
15 Yet she will be saved by bearing children, if she has continued in faith and love, and in sanctification accompanied by self-restraint.	15 Nondimeno si salverà per la educazione de' figliuoli, se si terrà nella fede, e nella carità, e nella santità con modestia.
