NEW JERUSALEMNOVA VULGATA
1 [Prayer Of Moses, man of God] Lord, you have been our refuge from age to age.1 Precatio. Moysis viri Dei.
Domine, refugium factus es nobis
a generatione in generationem.
2 Before the mountains were born, before the earth and the world came to birth, from eternity to eternityyou are God.2 Priusquam montes nascerentur, aut gigneretur terra et orbis,
a saeculo et usque in saeculum tu es Deus.
3 You bring human beings to the dust, by saying, 'Return, children of Adam.'3 Reducis hominem in pulverem;
et dixisti: “ Revertimini, filii hominum ”.
4 A thousand years are to you like a yesterday which has passed, like a watch of the night.4 Quoniam mille anni ante oculos tuos
tamquam dies hesterna, quae praeteriit,
et custodia in nocte.
5 You flood them with sleep -- in the morning they wil be like growing grass:5 Auferes eos, somnium erunt:
6 in the morning it is blossoming and growing, by evening it is withered and dry.6 mane sicut herba succrescens,
mane floret et crescit,
vespere decidit et arescit.
7 For we have been destroyed by your wrath, dismayed by your anger.7 Quia defecimus in ira tua
et in furore tuo turbati sumus.
8 You have taken note of our guilty deeds, our secrets in the ful light of your presence.8 Posuisti iniquitates nostras in conspectu tuo,
occulta nostra in illuminatione vultus tui.
9 Al our days pass under your wrath, our lives are over like a sigh.9 Quoniam omnes dies nostri evanuerunt in ira tua,
consumpsimus ut suspirium annos nostros.
10 The span of our life is seventy years -- eighty for those who are strong -- but their whole extent isanxiety and trouble, they are over in a moment and we are gone.10 Dies annorum nostrorum sunt septuaginta anni
aut in valentibus octoginta anni,
et maior pars eorum labor et dolor,
quoniam cito transeunt, et avolamus.
11 Who feels the power of your anger, or who that fears you, your wrath?11 Quis novit potestatem irae tuae
et secundum timorem tuum indignationem tuam?
12 Teach us to count up the days that are ours, and we shal come to the heart of wisdom.12 Dinumerare dies nostros sic doce nos, ut inducamus cor ad sapientiam.
13 Come back, Yahweh! How long must we wait? Take pity on your servants.13 Convertere, Domine, usquequo?
Et deprecabilis esto super servos tuos.
14 Each morning fill us with your faithful love, we shal sing and be happy all our days;14 Reple nos mane misericordia tua,
et exsultabimus et delectabimur omnibus diebus nostris.
15 let our joy be as long as the time that you afflicted us, the years when we experienced disaster.15 Laetifica nos pro diebus, quibus nos humiliasti,
pro annis, quibus vidimus mala.
16 Show your servants the deeds you do, let their children enjoy your splendour!16 Appareat servis tuis opus tuum,
et decor tuus filiis eorum.
17 May the sweetness of the Lord be upon us, to confirm the work we have done!17 Et sit splendor Domini Dei nostri super nos,
et opera manuum nostrarum confirma super nos
et opus manuum nostrarum confirma.
