1 Al eluia! Give thanks to Yahweh, for he is good, his faithful love is everlasting!	1 Alleluia.Rendete grazie al Signore, perché è buono,perché il suo amore è per sempre.
2 Who can recount al Yahweh's triumphs, who can ful y voice his praise?	2 Chi può narrare le prodezze del Signore,far risuonare tutta la sua lode?
3 How blessed are those who keep to what is just, whose conduct is always upright!	3 Beati coloro che osservano il dirittoe agiscono con giustizia in ogni tempo.
4 Remember me, Yahweh, in your love for your people. Come near to me with your saving power,	4 Ricòrdati di me, Signore, per amore del tuo popolo,visitami con la tua salvezza,
5 let me share the happiness of your chosen ones, let me share the joy of your people, the pride ofyour heritage.	5 perché io veda il bene dei tuoi eletti,gioisca della gioia del tuo popolo,mi vanti della tua eredità.
6 Like our ancestors, we have sinned, we have acted wickedly, guiltily;	6 Abbiamo peccato con i nostri padri,delitti e malvagità abbiamo commesso.
7 our ancestors in Egypt never grasped the meaning of your wonders. They did not bear in mind yourcountless acts of love, at the Sea of Reeds they defied the Most High;	7 I nostri padri, in Egitto,non compresero le tue meraviglie,non si ricordarono della grandezza del tuo amoree si ribellarono presso il mare, presso il Mar Rosso.
8 but for the sake of his name he saved them, to make known his mighty power.	8 Ma Dio li salvò per il suo nome,per far conoscere la sua potenza.
9 At his rebuke the Sea of Reeds dried up, he let them pass through the deep as though it were desert,	9 Minacciò il Mar Rosso e fu prosciugato,li fece camminare negli abissi come nel deserto.
10 so he saved them from their opponents' clutches, rescued them from the clutches of their enemies.	10 Li salvò dalla mano di chi li odiava,li riscattò dalla mano del nemico.
11 The waters enveloped their enemies, not one of whom was left.	11 L’acqua sommerse i loro avversari,non ne sopravvisse neppure uno.
12 Then they believed what he had said, and sang his praises.	12 Allora credettero alle sue parolee cantarono la sua lode.
13 But they soon forgot his achievements, they did not even wait for his plans;	13 Presto dimenticarono le sue opere,non ebbero fiducia nel suo progetto,
14 they were overwhelmed with greed in the wastelands, in the solitary wastes they challenged God.	14 arsero di desiderio nel desertoe tentarono Dio nella steppa.
15 He gave them al they asked for, but struck them with a deep wasting sickness;	15 Concesse loro quanto chiedevanoe li saziò fino alla nausea.
16 in the camp they grew jealous of Moses, and of Aaron, Yahweh's holy one.	16 Divennero gelosi di Mosè nell’accampamentoe di Aronne, il consacrato del Signore.
17 The earth opened and swal owed up Dathan, closed in on Abiram's faction;	17 Allora si spalancò la terra e inghiottì Datane ricoprì la gente di Abiràm.
18 fire flamed out against their faction, the renegades were engulfed in flames.	18 Un fuoco divorò quella gentee una fiamma consumò quei malvagi.
19 At Horeb they made a calf, bowed low before cast metal;	19 Si fabbricarono un vitello sull’Oreb,si prostrarono a una statua di metallo;
20 they exchanged their glory for the image of a grass-eating bull.	20 scambiarono la loro gloriacon la figura di un toro che mangia erba.
21 They forgot the God who was saving them, who had done great deeds in Egypt,	21 Dimenticarono Dio che li aveva salvati,che aveva operato in Egitto cose grandi,
22 such wonders in the land of Ham, such awesome deeds at the Sea of Reeds.	22 meraviglie nella terra di Cam,cose terribili presso il Mar Rosso.
23 He thought of putting an end to them, had not Moses, his chosen one, taken a stand in the breachand confronted him, to turn his anger away from destroying them.	23 Ed egli li avrebbe sterminati,se Mosè, il suo eletto,non si fosse posto sulla breccia davanti a luiper impedire alla sua collera di distruggerli.
24 They counted a desirable land for nothing, they put no trust in his promise;	24 Rifiutarono una terra di delizie,non credettero alla sua parola.
25 they stayed in their tents and grumbled, they would not listen to Yahweh's voice.	25 Mormorarono nelle loro tende,non ascoltarono la voce del Signore.
26 So he lifted his hand against them, to strike them down in the desert,	26 Allora egli alzò la mano contro di loro,giurando di abbatterli nel deserto,
27 to strike down their descendants among the nations, to scatter them al over the world.	27 di disperdere la loro discendenza tra le nazionie disseminarli nelle loro terre.
28 They committed themselves to serve Baal-Peor, and ate sacrifices made to lifeless gods.	28 Adorarono Baal-Peore mangiarono i sacrifici dei morti.
29 They so provoked him by their actions that a plague broke out among them.	29 Lo provocarono con tali azioni,e tra loro scoppiò la peste.
30 Then up stood Phinehas to intervene, and the plague was checked;	30 Ma Fineès si alzò per fare giustizia:allora la peste cessò.
31 for this he is the example of uprightness, from age to age for ever.	31 Ciò fu considerato per lui un atto di giustiziadi generazione in generazione, per sempre.
32 At the waters of Meribah they so angered Yahweh, that Moses suffered on their account,	32 Lo irritarono anche alle acque di Merìbae Mosè fu punito per causa loro:
33 for they had embittered his spirit, and he spoke without due thought.	33 poiché avevano amareggiato il suo spiritoed egli aveva parlato senza riflettere.
34 They did not destroy the nations, as Yahweh had told them to do,	34 Non sterminarono i popolicome aveva ordinato il Signore,
35 but intermarried with them, and adopted their ways.	35 ma si mescolarono con le gentie impararono ad agire come loro.
36 They worshipped those nations' false gods, til they found themselves entrapped,	36 Servirono i loro idolie questi furono per loro un tranello.
37 and sacrificed their own sons and their daughters to demons.	37 Immolarono i loro figlie le loro figlie ai falsi dèi.
38 Innocent blood they shed, the blood of their sons and daughters; offering them to the idols ofCanaan, they pol uted the country with blood.	38 Versarono sangue innocente,il sangue dei loro figli e delle loro figlie,sacrificàti agli idoli di Canaan,e la terra fu profanata dal sangue.
39 They defiled themselves by such actions, their behaviour was that of a harlot.	39 Si contaminarono con le loro opere,si prostituirono con le loro azioni.
40 Yahweh's anger blazed out at his people, his own heritage fil ed him with disgust.	40 L’ira del Signore si accese contro il suo popoloed egli ebbe in orrore la sua eredità.
41 He handed them over to the nations, and their opponents became their masters;	41 Li consegnò in mano alle genti,li dominarono quelli che li odiavano.
42 their enemies lorded it over them, crushing them under their rule.	42 Li oppressero i loro nemici:essi dovettero piegarsi sotto la loro mano.
43 Time and again he rescued them, but they stil defied him deliberately, and sank ever deeper in theirguilt;	43 Molte volte li aveva liberati,eppure si ostinarono nei loro progettie furono abbattuti per le loro colpe;
44 even so he took pity on their distress, as soon as he heard them cry out.	44 ma egli vide la loro angustia,quando udì il loro grido.
45 Bearing his covenant with them in mind, he relented in his boundless and faithful love;	45 Si ricordò della sua alleanza con loroe si mosse a compassione, per il suo grande amore.
46 he ensured that they received compassion, in their treatment by al their captors.	46 Li affidò alla misericordiadi quelli che li avevano deportati.
47 Save us, Yahweh our God, gather us from among the nations, that we may give thanks to your holyname, and may glory in praising you.	47 Salvaci, Signore Dio nostro,radunaci dalle genti,perché ringraziamo il tuo nome santo:lodarti sarà la nostra gloria.
48 Blessed be Yahweh, the God of Israel, from all eternity and for ever! Let all the people say, 'Amen'.	48 Benedetto il Signore, Dio d’Israele,da sempre e per sempre.Tutto il popolo dica: Amen.Alleluia.
