Psalms 106

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 Al eluia! Give thanks to Yahweh, for he is good, his faithful love is everlasting!	1 ¡Aleluya! ¡Den gracias al Señor, porque es bueno, porque es eterno su amor!
2 Who can recount al Yahweh's triumphs, who can ful y voice his praise?	2 ¿Quién puede hablar de las proezas del Señor y proclamar todas sus alabanzas?
3 How blessed are those who keep to what is just, whose conduct is always upright!	3 ¡Felices los que proceden con rectitud, los que practican la justicia en todo tiempo!
4 Remember me, Yahweh, in your love for your people. Come near to me with your saving power,	4 Acuérdate de mí, Señor, por el amor que tienes a tu pueblo; visítame con tu salvación,
5 let me share the happiness of your chosen ones, let me share the joy of your people, the pride ofyour heritage.	5 para que vea la felicidad de tus elegidos, para que me alegre con la alegría de tu nación y me gloríe con el pueblo de tu herencia.
6 Like our ancestors, we have sinned, we have acted wickedly, guiltily;	6 Hemos pecado, igual que nuestros padres; somos culpables, hicimos el mal:
7 our ancestors in Egypt never grasped the meaning of your wonders. They did not bear in mind yourcountless acts of love, at the Sea of Reeds they defied the Most High;	7 nuestros padres, cuando estaban en Egipto, no comprendieron tus maravillas; no recordaron la multitud de tus favores, y en el Mar Rojo desafiaron al Altísimo.
8 but for the sake of his name he saved them, to make known his mighty power.	8 Pero él los salvó por amor de su Nombre, para poner de manifiesto su poder:
9 At his rebuke the Sea of Reeds dried up, he let them pass through the deep as though it were desert,	9 increpó al Mar Rojo, y este se secó; los llevó por los abismos como por un desierto,
10 so he saved them from their opponents' clutches, rescued them from the clutches of their enemies.	10 los salvó de las manos del enemigo, los rescató del poder del adversario.
11 The waters enveloped their enemies, not one of whom was left.	11 El agua cubrió a sus opresores, ni uno solo quedó con vida:
12 Then they believed what he had said, and sang his praises.	12 entonces creyeron en sus palabras y cantaron sus alabanzas.
13 But they soon forgot his achievements, they did not even wait for his plans;	13 Pero muy pronto se olvidaron de sus obras, no tuvieron en cuenta su designio;
14 they were overwhelmed with greed in the wastelands, in the solitary wastes they challenged God.	14 ardían de avidez en el desierto y tentaron a Dios en la soledad:
15 He gave them al they asked for, but struck them with a deep wasting sickness;	15 entonces, él les dio lo que pedían, pero hizo que una enfermedad los consumiera.
16 in the camp they grew jealous of Moses, and of Aaron, Yahweh's holy one.	16 En el campamento tuvieron celos de Moisés, y de Aarón, el consagrado al Señor;
17 The earth opened and swal owed up Dathan, closed in on Abiram's faction;	17 pero se abrió la tierra y devoró a Datán, se cerró sobre Abirón y sus secuaces;
18 fire flamed out against their faction, the renegades were engulfed in flames.	18 ardió un fuego contra aquella turba, y las llamas abrasaron a los malvados.
19 At Horeb they made a calf, bowed low before cast metal;	19 En Horeb se fabricaron un ternero, adoraron una estatua de metal fundido:
20 they exchanged their glory for the image of a grass-eating bull.	20 así cambiaron su Gloria por la imagen de un toro que come pasto.
21 They forgot the God who was saving them, who had done great deeds in Egypt,	21 Olvidaron a Dios, que los había salvado y había hecho prodigios en Egipto,
22 such wonders in the land of Ham, such awesome deeds at the Sea of Reeds.	22 maravillas en la tierra de Cam y portentos junto al Mar Rojo.
23 He thought of putting an end to them, had not Moses, his chosen one, taken a stand in the breachand confronted him, to turn his anger away from destroying them.	23 El Señor amenazó con destruirlos, pero Moisés, su elegido, se mantuvo firme en la brecha para aplacar su enojo destructor.
24 They counted a desirable land for nothing, they put no trust in his promise;	24 Despreciaron una tierra apetecible, no creyeron en su palabra;
25 they stayed in their tents and grumbled, they would not listen to Yahweh's voice.	25 murmuraron dentro de sus carpas y no escucharon la voz del Señor.
26 So he lifted his hand against them, to strike them down in the desert,	26 Pero él alzó la mano y les juró que los haría morir en el desierto.
27 to strike down their descendants among the nations, to scatter them al over the world.	27 que dispersaría a sus descendientes por los pueblos y los diseminaría por diversas regiones.
28 They committed themselves to serve Baal-Peor, and ate sacrifices made to lifeless gods.	28 Luego se unieron al Baal de Peor y comieron víctimas ofrecidas a dioses muertos;
29 They so provoked him by their actions that a plague broke out among them.	29 con esas acciones irritaron al Señor y cayó sobre ellos una plaga.
30 Then up stood Phinehas to intervene, and the plague was checked;	30 Pero Pinjás se levantó e hizo justicia, y entonces cesó la plaga:
31 for this he is the example of uprightness, from age to age for ever.	31 esto le fue tenido en cuenta a su favor, por todas las generaciones, para siempre.
32 At the waters of Meribah they so angered Yahweh, that Moses suffered on their account,	32 Irritaron al Señor junto a las aguas de Meribá, y Moisés sufrió mucho por culpa de ellos,
33 for they had embittered his spirit, and he spoke without due thought.	33 porque lo amargaron profundamente, y él no supo medir sus palabras.
34 They did not destroy the nations, as Yahweh had told them to do,	34 No exterminaron a los pueblos como el Señor les había mandado:
35 but intermarried with them, and adopted their ways.	35 se mezclaron con los paganos e imitaron sus costumbres;
36 They worshipped those nations' false gods, til they found themselves entrapped,	36 rindieron culto a sus ídolos, que fueron para ellos una trampa.
37 and sacrificed their own sons and their daughters to demons.	37 Sacrificaron en honor de los demonios a sus hijos y a sus hijas;
38 Innocent blood they shed, the blood of their sons and daughters; offering them to the idols ofCanaan, they pol uted the country with blood.	38 derramaron sangre inocente, y la tierra quedó profanada.
39 They defiled themselves by such actions, their behaviour was that of a harlot.	39 Se mancharon con sus acciones y se prostituyeron con su mala conducta;
40 Yahweh's anger blazed out at his people, his own heritage fil ed him with disgust.	40 por eso el Señor se indignó contra su pueblo y abominó de su herencia.
41 He handed them over to the nations, and their opponents became their masters;	41 Los puso en manos de las naciones y fueron dominados por sus enemigos;
42 their enemies lorded it over them, crushing them under their rule.	42 sus adversarios los oprimieron y los sometieron a su poder.
43 Time and again he rescued them, but they stil defied him deliberately, and sank ever deeper in theirguilt;	43 El Señor los libró muchas veces, pero ellos se obstinaron en su actitud, y se hundieron más y más en su maldad.
44 even so he took pity on their distress, as soon as he heard them cry out.	44 Sin embargo, el miró su aflicción y escuchó sus lamentos.
45 Bearing his covenant with them in mind, he relented in his boundless and faithful love;	45 Se acordó de su alianza en favor de ellos y se arrepintió por su gran misericordia;
46 he ensured that they received compassion, in their treatment by al their captors.	46 hizo que les tuvieran compasión los que los habían llevado cautivos.
47 Save us, Yahweh our God, gather us from among the nations, that we may give thanks to your holyname, and may glory in praising you.	47 Sálvanos, Señor y Dios nuestro; congréganos de entre las naciones, para que podamos dar gracias a tu santo Nombre y gloriarnos de haberte alabado.
48 Blessed be Yahweh, the God of Israel, from all eternity and for ever! Let all the people say, 'Amen'.	48 ¡Bendito sea el Señor, Dios de Israel, desde ahora y para siempre! Y todo el pueblo diga: ¡Amén! ¡Aleluya!
