Jeremiah 43

1 When Jeremiah finished speaking to the people all these words of the LORD, their God, with which the LORD had sent him to them,	1 Ahora bien, así que hubo acabado Jeremías de transmitir a todo el pueblo el recado de Yahveh su Dios, que Yahveh le había dado para ellos,
2 Azariah, son of Hoshaiah, Johanan, son of Kareah, and all the insolent men shouted to Jeremiah: "You lie; it was not the LORD, our God, who sent you to tell us not to go to Egypt to settle.	2 dijo Azarías, hijo de Hosaías, y también Yojanán, hijo de Caréaj, y todos los hombres insolentes se pusieron a decir a Jeremías: «Estás mintiendo. No te ha encargado nuestro Dios Yahveh decir: “No vayáis a Egipto como refugiados allí”».
3 It is Baruch, son of Neriah, who stirs you up against us, to hand us over to the Chaldeans to be killed or exiled to Babylon."	3 Sino que Baruc, hijo de Neriyías, te azuza contra nosotros con objeto de ponernos en manos de los caldeos para que nos hagan morir y nos deporten a Babilonia.
4 Johanan, son of Kareah, and the rest of the leaders and the people did not obey the LORD'S command to stay in the land of Judah.	4 Además, ni Yojanán, hijo de Caréaj, ni ninguno de los jefes de las tropas, ni nadie del pueblo escuchó la voz de Yahveh que mandaba quedarse en tierra de Judá;
5 Instead, Johanan, son of Kareah, and all the army leaders took along the whole remnant of Judah that had been dispersed among the nations and had returned thence to dwell again in the land of Judah:	5 antes bien, Yojanán, hijo de Caréaj, y todos los jefes de las tropas tomaron consigo a todo el resto de Judá, los que habían regresado, para habitar en tierra de Judá, de todas las naciones adonde habían sido rechazados:
6 men, women, and children, the princesses and everyone whom Nebuzaradan, captain of the bodyguard, had entrusted to Gedaliah, son of Ahikam, son of Shaphan; also Jeremiah, the prophet, and Baruch, son of Neriah.	6 a hombres, mujeres, niños, a las hijas del rey y a toda persona que Nebuzaradán, jefe de la guardia, había dejado en paz con Godolías, hijo de Ajicam, hijo de Safán, y también al profeta Jeremías y a Baruc, hijo de Neriyías,
7 Against the LORD'S command they went to Egypt, and arrived at Tahpanhes. . . .	7 y entrando en la tierra de Egipto, - pues desoyeron la voz de Yahveh -, se adentraron hasta Tafnis.
8 This word of the LORD came to Jeremiah in Tahpanhes:	8 Entonces fue dirigida la palabra de Yahveh a Jeremías en Tafnis como sigue:
9 Take with you large stones and sink them in mortar in the brickyard at the entrance to the royal building in Tahpanhes, while the men of Judah look on,	9 Toma en tus manos piedras grandes, y las hundes en el cemento de la terraza que hay a la entrada del palacio de Faraón en Tafnis, a vista de los judíos,
10 and then say to them: Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: I will send for my servant Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, and bring him here. He will set his throne upon these stones which I, Jeremiah, have sunk, and stretch his canopy over them.	10 y les dices: Así dice Yahveh Sebaot, el Dios de Israel: He aquí que yo mando en busca de mi siervo Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia, y pondrá su sede por encima de estas piedras que he enterrado, y desplegaré su pabellón sobre ellas.
11 He shall come and strike the land of Egypt: with death, whoever is marked for death; with exile, everyone destined for exile; with the sword, all who are intended for the sword.	11 Vendrá y herirá a Egipto, quien sea para la muerte, a la muerte; quien para el cautiverio, al cautiverio; quien para la espada, a la espada;
12 He shall set fire to the temples of Egypt's gods, and burn the gods or carry them off. As a shepherd delouses his cloak, he shall delouse the land of Egypt and depart victorious.	12 y prenderá fuego a los templos de los dioses de Egipto, los incendiará, y a los dioses les hará cautivos. Despiojará a Egipto como despioja un pastor su zalea, y saldrá de allí victorioso.
13 He shall smash the obelisks of the temple of the sun in the land of Egypt and destroy with fire the temples of the Egyptian gods.	13 Romperá los cipos de Bet Semes que hay en Egipto, y los templos de los dioses egipcios abrasará.
