1 The man who remains stiff-necked and hates rebuke will be crushed suddenly beyond cure.	1 All'uomo di dura cervice che disprezza chi lo corregge, piomberà addosso all'improvviso la rovina, e non ci sarà rimedio per lui.
2 When the just prevail, the people rejoice; but when the wicked rule, the people groan.	2 Quando i giusti si moltiplicano, il popolo si rallegra, quando salgono al potere gli empi il popolo geme.
3 He who loves wisdom makes his father glad, but he who consorts with harlots squanders his wealth.	3 L'uomo che ama la sapienza dà consolazioni a suo padre, ma chi mantiene le meretrici rovinerà il patrimonio.
4 By justice a king gives stability to the land; but he who imposes heavy taxes ruins it.	4 Il re giusto rialza lo stato, l'uomo avaro lo distrugge.
5 The man who flatters his neighbor is spreading a net under his feet.	5 L'uomo che parla al suo amico con adulazioni e fintaggini tende una rete ai piedi di lui.
6 The wicked man steps into a snare, but the just man runs on joyfully.	6 L'uomo peccatore e iniquo cadrà nel laccio, e il giusto canterà e farà festa.
7 The just man has a care for the rights of the poor; the wicked man has no such concern.	7 Il giusto conosce la causa dei poveri, l'empio non ne capisce niente.
8 Arrogant men set the city ablaze, but wise men calm the fury.	8 Gli uomini corrotti distruggon la città, invece i sapienti la, salvan dall'ira.
9 If a wise man disputes with a fool, he may rage or laugh but can have no peace.	9 L'uomo sapiente se viene a contesa con lo stolto, o che s'arrabbi o che rida, non avrà pace,
10 Bloodthirsty men hate the honest man, but the upright show concern for his life.	10 Gli uomini sanguinari odiano l'uomo integro, i giusti invece ne cercano la salvezza.
11 The fool gives vent to all his anger; but by biding his time, the wise man calms it.	11 Lo stolto sfoga tutto il suo animo, il saggio aspetta e riserva all'avvenire.
12 If a ruler listens to lying words, his servants all become wicked.	12 Il principe che ascolta volentieri le menzogne ha ministri tutti malvagi.
13 The poor and the oppressor have a common bond: the LORD gives light to the eyes of both.	13 Il povero e il creditore si vanno incontro, il Signore ha data la luce a tutti e due.
14 If a king is zealous for the rights of the poor, his throne stands firm forever.	14 Il re che con lealtà rende giustizia ai poveri avrà stabile il suo trono in eterno.
15 The rod of correction gives wisdom, but a boy left to his whims disgraces his mother.	15 La verga e la correzione danno saggezza; ma il fanciullo abbandonato ai suoi capricci fa vergogna a sua madre.
16 When the wicked prevail, crime increases; but their downfall the just will behold.	16 Moltiplicandosi gli empi, si moltiplicano i delitti, e i giusti ne vedranno le rovine.
17 Correct your son, and he will bring you comfort, and give delight to your soul.	17 Educa tuo figlio e ti sarà di consolazione, sarà la delizia dell'anima tua.
18 Without prophecy the people become demoralized; but happy is he who keeps the law.	18 Quando la profezia verrà meno, il popolo sarà dissipato, ma è beato chi osserva la legge.
19 By words no servant can be trained; for he understands what is said, but obeys not.	19 Il servo non si può educare a parole, perchè comprende quanto dici, ma sdegna rispondere.
20 Do you see a man hasty in his words? More can be hoped for from a fool!	20 Hai tu visto un uomo precipitoso nel parlare? C'è da sperare più l'emendamento della follìa che il suo.
21 If a man pampers his servant from childhood, he will turn out to be stubborn.	21 Chi alleva delicatamente fin dall'infanzia il suo servo, poi se lo ritroverà ribelle.
22 An ill-tempered man stirs up disputes, and a hotheaded man is the cause of many sins.	22 L'uomo iracondo provoca le risse, chi è facile ad arrabbiarsi sarà molto proclive a peccare.
23 Man's pride causes his humiliation, but he who is humble of spirit obtains honor.	23 L'umiliazione segue il superbo, e la gloria abbraccerà l'umile di cuore.
24 The accomplice of a thief is his own enemy: he hears himself put under a curse, yet discloses nothing.	24 Chi s'associa al ladro odia la sua anima, sente chi lo scongiura e non palesa.
25 The fear of man brings a snare, but he who trusts in the LORD is safe.	25 Chi ha paura dell'uomo cadrà ben presto, chi spera nel Signore sarà esaltato.
26 Many curry favor with the ruler, but the rights of each are from the LORD.	26 Molti cercano il favore del principe, ma dal Signore verrà il giudizio di ciascuno di noi.
27 The evildoer is an abomination to the just, and he who walks uprightly is an abomination to the wicked.	27 I giusti hanno in abbonimio gli empi, gli empi hanno in abbominio quelli che son nella retta strada. Il figlio che mette in pratica la parola sarà sicuro dalla perdizione.
