Psalms 49

1 For the leader. A psalm of the Korahites.	1 Iddio, delli Dei Signore, ha parlato; e chiamò la terra, da levante insino al ponente.
2 Hear this, all you peoples! Give ear, all who inhabit the world,	2 Da Sion è la bellezza del suo adornamento.
3 You of lowly birth or high estate, rich and poor alike.	3 Iddio verrà manifestamente; il nostro Iddio, e non tacerà. Nel suo cospetto arderà il fuoco; e intorno a lui sarà la forte tempesta.
4 My mouth shall speak wisdom, my heart shall offer insight.	4 Di sopra chiamò il cielo, e la terra a dividere il suo popolo.
5 I will turn my attention to a problem, expound my question to the music of a lyre.	5 Raunateli i suoi santi; i quali òrdinano il suo testamento sopra li sacrificii.
6 Why should I fear in evil days, when my wicked pursuers ring me round,	6 E annunzieranno li cieli la sua giustizia; per che Iddio è giudice.
7 Those who trust in their wealth and boast of their abundant riches?	7 Popolo mio, odi, e parlerò; Israel, e a te testificherò; io sono Iddio, tuo Iddio.
8 One cannot redeem oneself, pay to God a ransom.	8 Non ti riprenderò nelli tuoi sacrificii; ma gli tuoi sacrificii sempre sono nel mio cospetto.
9 Too high the price to redeem a life; one would never have enough	9 Non torrò gli vitelli dalla tua casa, nè li becchi delle tue gregge.
10 To stay alive forever and never see the pit.	10 Per che mie sono tutte le bestie delle selve, gli animali de' monti e li bovi.
11 Anyone can see that the wisest die, the fool and the senseless pass away too, and must leave their wealth to others.	11 Ho conosciuti tutti gli uccelli del cielo; ed è meco la bellezza del campo.
12 Tombs are their homes forever, their dwellings through all generations, though they gave their names to their lands.	12 Se avrò fame, non tel dirò; egli è mio tutto il mondo, e la sua plenitudine.
13 For all their riches mortals do not abide; they perish like the beasts.	13 Mangerò io forse le carni de' tauri? ovver beverò il sangue de' becchi?
14 This is the destiny of those who trust in folly, the end of those so pleased with their wealth. Selah	14 A Dio sacrifica il sacrificio di laude; e all'Altissimo rendi i tuoi voti.
15 Like sheep they are herded into Sheol, where death will be their shepherd. Straight to the grave they descend, where their form will waste away, Sheol will be their palace.	15 E nel dì della tribulazione appella me; e libererò te, e tu mi onorificherai.
16 But God will redeem my life, will take me from the power of Sheol. Selah	16 Ma disse Iddio al peccatore: il per che racconti le mie giustizie, e per la tua bocca togli il mio testamento?
17 Do not fear when others become rich, when the wealth of their houses grows great.	17 Ma tu hai avuto in odio la disciplina; e hai gittato dopo te le mie parole.
18 When they die they will take nothing with them, their wealth will not follow them down.	18 Se vedevi il latrone, con lui correvi; e con gli adulteri ponevi la tua parte.
19 When living, they congratulate themselves and say: "All praise you, you do so well."	19 La tua bocca ha abbondato di malizia; e la tua lingua ordinava gl' inganni.
20 But they will join the company of their forebears, never again to see the light.	20 Sedendo parlavi contra il tuo fratello, contra il figliuolo della tua madre ponevi scandalo; facesti queste cose, e ho taciuto.
21 For all their riches, if mortals do not have wisdom, they perish like the beasts.	21 Pensasti iniquamente, che sarò simile a te; te riprenderò, e ordinerò (me) contra la tua faccia.
	22 Voi, che vi dimenticate Iddio, intendete queste cose; chè quando rapisca', non sia chi libera.
	23 Onorificherà me il sacrificio della laude: e ivi è la (mia) via, che li dimostrerò nel Salvatore di Dio.
