ελεησον ημας δεσποτα ο θεος παντων και επιβλεψον και επιβαλε τον φοβον σου επι παντα τα εθνη1 Have mercy upon us, O God of all, and behold us, and shew us the light of thy mercies:
επαρον την χειρα σου επι εθνη αλλοτρια και ιδετωσαν την δυναστειαν σου2 And send thy fear upon the nations, that have not sought after thee: that they may know that there is no God beside thee, and that they may shew forth thy wonders.
ωσπερ ενωπιον αυτων ηγιασθης εν ημιν ουτως ενωπιον ημων μεγαλυνθειης εν αυτοις3 Lift up thy hand over the strange nations, that they may see thy power.
και επιγνωτωσαν σε καθαπερ και ημεις επεγνωμεν οτι ουκ εστιν θεος πλην σου κυριε4 For as thou hast been sanctified in us in their sight, so thou shalt be magnified among them in our presence,
εγκαινισον σημεια και αλλοιωσον θαυμασια δοξασον χειρα και βραχιονα δεξιον5 That they may know thee, as we also have known thee, that there is no God beside thee, O Lord.
εγειρον θυμον και εκχεον οργην εξαρον αντιδικον και εκτριψον εχθρον6 Renew thy signs, and work new miracles.
σπευσον καιρον και μνησθητι ορκισμου και εκδιηγησασθωσαν τα μεγαλεια σου7 Glorify thy hand, and thy right arm.
εν οργη πυρος καταβρωθητω ο σωζομενος και οι κακουντες τον λαον σου ευροισαν απωλειαν8 Raise up indignation, and pour out wrath.
συντριψον κεφαλας αρχοντων εχθρων λεγοντων ουκ εστιν πλην ημων9 Take away the adversary, and crush the enemy.
συναγαγε πασας φυλας ιακωβ και κατακληρονομησον αυτους καθως απ' αρχης10 Hasten the time, and remember the end, that they may declare thy wonderful works.
ελεησον λαον κυριε κεκλημενον επ' ονοματι σου και ισραηλ ον πρωτογονω ωμοιωσας11 ,11Let him that escapeth be consumed by the rage of the fire: and let them perish that oppress thy people.
οικτιρησον πολιν αγιασματος σου ιερουσαλημ τοπον καταπαυματος σου12 Crush the head of the princes of the enemies that say: There is no other beside us.
πλησον σιων αρεταλογιας σου και απο της δοξης σου τον λαον σου13 Gather together all the tribes of Jacob: that they may know that there is no God besides thee, and may declare thy great works: and thou shalt inherit them as from the beginning.
δος μαρτυριον τοις εν αρχη κτισμασιν σου και εγειρον προφητειας τας επ' ονοματι σου14 Have mercy on thy people, upon whom thy name is invoked: and upon Israel, m whom thou hast raised up to be thy firstborn.
δος μισθον τοις υπομενουσιν σε και οι προφηται σου εμπιστευθητωσαν15 Have mercy on Jerusalem, the city which thou hast sanctified, the city of thy rest.
εισακουσον κυριε δεησεως των ικετων σου κατα την ευλογιαν ααρων περι του λαου σου16 Fill Sion with thy unspeakable words, and thy people with thy glory.
και γνωσονται παντες οι επι της γης οτι κυριος ει ο θεος των αιωνων17 Give testimony to them that are thy creatures from the beginning, and raise up the prophecies which the former prophets spoke in thy name.
παν βρωμα φαγεται κοιλια εστιν δε βρωμα βρωματος καλλιον18 Reward them that patiently wait for thee, that thy prophets may be found faithful: and hear the prayers of thy servants,
φαρυγξ γευεται βρωματα θηρας ουτως καρδια συνετη λογους ψευδεις19 According to the blessing of Aaron over thy people, and direct us into the way of justice, and let all know that dwell upon the earth, that thou art God the beholder of all ages.
καρδια στρεβλη δωσει λυπην και ανθρωπος πολυπειρος ανταποδωσει αυτω20 The belly will devour all meat, yet one is better than another.
παντα αρρενα επιδεξεται γυνη εστιν δε θυγατηρ θυγατρος κρεισσων21 ,21The palate tasteth venison and the wise heart false speeches.
καλλος γυναικος ιλαρυνει προσωπον και υπερ πασαν επιθυμιαν ανθρωπου υπεραγει22 A perverse heart will cause grief, and a man of experience will resist it.
ει εστιν επι γλωσσης αυτης ελεος και πραυτης ουκ εστιν ο ανηρ αυτης καθ' υιους ανθρωπων23 A woman will receive every man: yet one daughter is better than another.
ο κτωμενος γυναικα εναρχεται κτησεως βοηθον κατ' αυτον και στυλον αναπαυσεως24 The beauty of a woman cheereth the countenance of her husband, and a man desireth nothing more.
ου ουκ εστιν φραγμος διαρπαγησεται κτημα και ου ουκ εστιν γυνη στεναξει πλανωμενος25 If she have a tongue that can cure, and likewise mitigate and shew mercy: her husband is not like other men.
τις γαρ πιστευσει ευζωνω ληστη αφαλλομενω εκ πολεως εις πολιν26 He that possesseth a good wife, beginneth a possession: she is a help like to himself, and a pillar of rest.
ουτως ανθρωπω μη εχοντι νοσσιαν και καταλυοντι ου εαν οψιση27 Where there is no hedge, the possession shall be spoiled: and where there is no wife, he mourneth that is in want.
Who will trust him that hath no rest, and that lodgeth wheresoever the night taketh him, as a robber well appointed, that skippeth from city to city.
