John 10

1 Amen, amen I say to you: He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up another way, the same is a thief and a robber.	1 «En verdad, en verdad os digo: el que no entra por la puerta en el redil de las ovejas, sino que escala por otro lado, ése es un ladrón y un salteador;
2 But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep.	2 pero el que entra por la puerta es pastor de las ovejas.
3 To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.	3 A éste le abre el portero, y las ovejas escuchan su voz; y a sus ovejas las llama una por una y las saca fuera.
4 And when he hath let out his own sheep, he goeth before them: and the sheep follow him, because they know his voice.	4 Cuando ha sacado todas las suyas, va delante de ellas, y las ovejas le siguen, porque conocen su voz.
5 But a stranger they follow not, but fly from him, because they know not the voice of strangers.	5 Pero no seguirán a un extraño, sino que huirán de él, porque no conocen la voz de los extraños».
6 This proverb Jesus spoke to them. But they understood not what he spoke to them.	6 Jesús les dijo esta parábola, pero ellos no comprendieron lo que les hablaba.
7 Jesus therefore said to them again: Amen, amen I say to you, I am the door of the sheep.	7 Entonces Jesús les dijo de nuevo: «En verdad, en verdad os digo: yo soy la puerta de las ovejas.
8 All others, as many as have come, are thieves and robbers: and the sheep heard them not.	8 Todos los que han venido delante de mí son ladrones y salteadores; pero las ovejas no les escucharon.
9 I am the door. By me, if any man enter in, he shall be saved: and he shall go in, and go out, and shall find pastures.	9 Yo soy la puerta; si uno entra por mí, estará a salvo; entrará y saldrá y encontrará pasto.
10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I am come that they may have life, and may have it more abundantly.	10 El ladrón no viene más que a robar, matar y destruir. Yo he venido para que tengan vida y la tengan en abundancia.
11 I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd giveth his life for his sheep.	11 Yo soy el buen pastor. El buen pastor da su vida por las ovejas.
12 But the hireling, and he that is not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and flieth: and the wolf catcheth, and scattereth the sheep:	12 Pero el asalariado, que no es pastor, a quien no pertenecen las ovejas, ve venir al lobo, abandona las ovejas y huye, y el lobo hace presa en ellas y las dispersa,
13 And the hireling flieth, because he is a hireling: and he hath no care for the sheep.	13 porque es asalariado y no le importan nada las ovejas.
14 I am the good shepherd; and I know mine, and mine know me.	14 Yo soy el buen pastor; y conozco mis ovejas y las mías me conocen a mí,
15 As the Father knoweth me, and I know the Father: and I lay down my life for my sheep.	15 como me conoce el Padre y yo conozco a mi Padre y doy mi vida por las ovejas.
16 And other sheep I have, that are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice, and there shall be one fold and one shepherd.	16 También tengo otras ovejas, que no son de este redil; también a ésas las tengo que conducir y escucharán mi voz; y habrá un solo rebaño, un solo pastor.
17 Therefore doth the Father love me: because I lay down my life, that I may take it again.	17 Por eso me ama el Padre, porque doy mi vida, para recobrarla de nuevo.
18 No man taketh it away from me: but I lay it down of myself, and I have power to lay it down: and I have power to take it up again. This commandment have I received of my Father.	18 Nadie me la quita; yo la doy voluntariamente. Tengo poder para darla y poder para recobrarla de nuevo; esa es la orden que he recibido de mi Padre».
19 A dissension rose again among the Jews for these words.	19 Se produjo otra vez una disensión entre los judíos por estas palabras.
20 And many of them said: He hath a devil, and is mad: why hear you him?	20 Muchos de ellos decían: «Tiene un demonio y está loco. ¿Por qué le escucháis?»
21 Others said: These are not the words of one that hath a devil: Can a devil open the eyes of the blind?	21 Pero otros decían: «Esas palabras no son de un endemoniado. ¿Puede acaso un demonio abrir los ojos de los ciegos?»
22 And it was the feast of the dedication at Jerusalem: and it was winter.	22 Se celebró por entonces en Jerusalén la fiesta de la Dedicación. Era invierno.
23 And Jesus walked in the temple, in Solomon's porch.	23 Jesús se paseaba por el Templo, en el pórtico de Salomón.
24 The Jews therefore came round about him, and said to him: How long dost thou hold our souls in suspense? If thou be the Christ, tell us plainly.	24 Le rodearon los judíos, y le decían: «¿Hasta cuándo vas tenernos en vilo? Si tú eres el Cristo, dínoslo abiertamente».
25 Jesus answered them: I speak to you, and you believe not: the works that I do in the name of my Father, they give testimony of me.	25 Jesús les respondió: «Ya os lo he dicho, pero no me creéis. Las obras que hago en nombre de mi Padre son las que dan testimonio de mí;
26 But you do not believe, because you are not of my sheep.	26 pero vosotros no creéis porque no sois de mis ovejas.
27 My sheep hear my voice: and I know them, and they follow me.	27 Mis ovejas escuchan mi voz; yo las conozco y ellas mi siguen.
28 And I give them life everlasting; and they shall not perish for ever, and no man shall pluck them out of my hand.	28 Yo les doy vida eterna y no perecerán jamás, y nadie las arrebatará de mi mano.
29 That which my Father hath given me, is greater than all: and no one can snatch them out of the hand of my Father.	29 El Padre, que me las ha dado, es más grande que todos, y nadie puede arrebatar nada de la mano del Padre.
30 I and the Father are one.	30 Yo y el Padre somos uno».
31 The Jews then took up stones to stone him.	31 Los judíos trajeron otra vez piedras para apedrearle.
32 Jesus answered them: Many good works I have shewed you from my Father; for which of these works do you stone me?	32 Jesús les dijo: «Muchas obras buenas que vienen del Padre os he mostrado. ¿Por cuál de esas obras queréis apedrearme?»
33 The Jews answered him: For a good work we stone thee not, but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, maketh thyself God.	33 Le respondieron los judíos: «No queremos apedrearte por ninguna obra buena, sino por una blasfemia y porque tú, siendo hombre, te haces a ti mismo Dios».
34 Jesus answered them: Is it not written in your law: I said you are gods?	34 Jesús les respondió: «¿No está escrito en vuestra Ley: Yo he dicho: dioses sois?
35 If he called them gods, to whom to word of God was spoken, and the scripture cannot be broken;	35 Si llama dioses a aquellos a quienes se dirigió la Palabra de Dios - y no puede fallar la Escritura -
36 Do you say of him whom the Father hath sanctified and sent into the world: Thou blasphemest, because I said, I am the Son of God?	36 a aquel a quien el Padre ha santificado y enviado al mundo, ¿cómo le decís que blasfema por haber dicho: “Yo soy Hijo de Dios”?
37 If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not.	37 Si no hago las obras de mi Padre, no me creáis;
38 But if I do, though you will not believe me, believe the works: that you may know and believe that the Father is in me, and I in the Father.	38 pero si las hago, aunque a mí no me creáis, creed por las obras, y así sabréis y conoceréis que el Padre está en mí y yo en el Padre».
39 They sought therefore to take him; and he escaped out of their hands.	39 Querían de nuevo prenderle, pero se les escapó de las manos.
40 And he went again beyond the Jordan, into that place where John was baptizing first; and there he abode.	40 Se marchó de nuevo al otro lado del Jordán, al lugar donde Juan había estado antes bautizando, y se quedó allí.
41 And many resorted to him, and they said: John indeed did no sign.	41 Muchos fueron donde él y decían: «Juan no realizó ninguna señal, pero todo lo que dijo Juan de éste, era verdad».
42 But all things whatsoever John said of this man, were true. And many believed in him.	42 Y muchos allí creyeron en él.
