Sirach 39

DOUAI-RHEIMS	BIBBIA VOLGARE
1 The wise men will seek out the wisdom of all the ancients, and will be occupied in the prophets.	1 Il savio ricercherae la sapienza di tutti li antichi, e istudierae nelli profeti.
2 He will keep the sayings of renowned men, and will enter withal into the subtilties of parables.	2 Conserverae li detti delli famosi uomini, ed entrerae insiememente nelle sagacitadi delle parole.
3 He will search out the hidden meanings of proverbs, and will be conversant in the secrets of parables.	3 Ricercherae li occulti delli proverbii, e converserae nelli secreti delle parabole.
4 He shall serve among great men, and: appear before the governor.	4 Amministrerae tra' grandi uomini, e apparirae nel conspetto de' rettori.
5 He shall pass into strange countries: for he shall try good and evil among men.	5 Passerae nella terra delle strane genti; tenterae li mali e li beni nelli uomini.
6 He will give his heart to resort early to the Lord that made him, and he will pray in the sight of the most High.	6 Il cuore suo darae a vegliare per tempo al Signore che il fece; nel conspetto dello Altissimo pregherae.
7 He will open his mouth in prayer, and will make supplication for his sins.	7 Aprirà la bocca sua nella orazione, e per li peccati suoi pregherae.
8 For if it shall please the great Lord, he will fill him with the spirit of understanding:	8 Se l'alto Dio vorrà, riempierà lui di spirito d' intelligenza.
9 And he will pour forth the words of his wisdom as showers, and in his prayer he will confess to the Lord.	9 Egli, sì come piova, gitterae dolci parlari della sua sapienza, e nella orazione si confesserae al Signore.
10 And he shall direct his counsel, and his knowledge, and in his secrets shall he meditate.	10 Egli lo dirizzerae nel consiglio suo e nella disciplina; e nelli secreti suoi il consigliarae.
11 He shall shew forth the discipline he hath learned, and shall glory in the law of the covenant of the Lord.	11 Farae manifestare la disciplina della sua dottrina, e gloriarassi nella legge del testamento del Signore.
12 Many shall praise his wisdom, and it shall never be forgotten.	12 Molti loderanno la sapienza sua; infino nel secolo non si cancellerae (il suo senno).
13 The memory of him shall not depart away, and his name shall be in request from generation to generation.	13 E nen si partirae la memoria di lui; il nome suo fia richiesto di generazione in generazione.
14 Nations shall declare his wisdom, and the church shall shew forth his praise.	14 Le genti parleranno della sapienza sua, e la chiesa dirae la lode di colui.
15 If he continue, he shall leave a name above a thousand: and if he rest, it shall be to his advantage.	15 S'elli basterà, il nome suo lascieranne più di mille; e riposerassi, e gioveragli.
16 I will yet meditate that I may declare: for I am filled as with a holy transport.	16 Ancora consiglieroe, acciò che io parli; però che sì come di furore sono pieno.
17 By a voice he saith: Hear me, ye divine offspring, and bud forth as the rose planted by the brooks of waters.	17 Nelle voci dico: udite me, divini frutti, e fruttificate sì come rosa piantata sopra li rivi dell' acqua.
18 Give ye a sweet odour as frankincense.	18 E fruttificate odore, sì come Libano.
19 Send forth flowers, as the lily, and yield a smell, and bring forth leaves in grace, and praise with canticles, and bless the Lord in his works.	19 Fiorite fiori, sì come giglio; date odore e fate frondi in grazia, e conlaudate in cantico, e benedite Iddio nell' opere sue.
20 Magnify his name, and give glory to him with the voice of your lips, and with the canticles of your mouths, and with harps, and in praising him, you shall say in this manner:	20 Date al nome suo magnificenza, e confessatevi a lui nella voce delle labbra vostre nelle citare; e direte così nella confessione vostra :
21 All the works of the Lord are exceeding good.	21 L'opere del Signore sono tutte buone.
22 At his word the waters stood as a heap: and at the words of his mouth the receptacles of waters:	22 Nella parola sua stette l'acqua sì come uno muro, e nel sermone dalla sua bocca sì come li ricevimenti delle acque.
23 For at his commandment favour is shewn, and there is no diminishing of his salvation.	23 Però che [nel] li suoi comandamenti egli è pacificatore, e non è scemamento nella salute sua.
24 The works of all flesh are before him, and there is nothing hid from his eyes.	24 L'opera d' ogni uomo è dinanzi da lui; nulla cosa è nascosa dinanzi dagli occhi suoi.
25 He seeth from eternity to eternity, and there is nothing wonderful before him.	25 Di secolo in secolo guarda, e non è nel conspetto suo cosa ammirabile.
26 There is no saying: What is this, or what is that? for all things shall be sought in their time.	26 Non è a lui a dire: che è questo, o che è quello? tutte cose in loro tempo si domanderanno.
27 His blessing hath overflowed like a river.	27 La sua benedizione sì come uno fiume si spanderà.
28 And as a flood hath watered the earth; so shall his wrath inherit the nations, that have not sought after him:	28 Come il diluvio inebriò la terra, così l'ira sua erediterae nelle genti che non cercarono lui.
29 Even as he turned the waters into a dry land, and the earth was made dry: and his ways were made plain for their journey: so to sinners they are stumblingblocks in his wrath.	29 Com' elli l'acqua convertì in siccità, e la terra è seccata, così [come] le vie della terra alle vie di loro (cioè de' fiumi) sono dirette; così saranno le offensioni nell' ira sua a' peccatori.
30 Good things were created for the good from the beginning, so for the wicked, good and evil things.	30 Dal cominciamento li beni sono creati alli buoni; così alli rei e li beni e li mali.
31 The principal things necessary for the life of men, are water, fire, and iron, salt, milk, and bread of flour, and honey, and the cluster of the grape, and oil, and clothing.	31 Il principio della cosa necessaria della vita degli uomini si è: acqua, fuoco, ferro e sale e latte e pane di farina monda, e miele e grappolo d' uva e olio e vestimento.
32 All these things shall be for good to the holy, so to the sinners and the ungodly they shall be turned into evil.	32 Queste cose a' santi tutte sono ne' beni; e così si convertono in male alli malvagi e alli peccatori.
33 There are spirits that are created for vengeance, and in their fury they lay on grievous torments.	33 Sono spiriti (maligni), li quali sono creati a vendetta (de' rei); e nello suo furore confermarono li suoi tormenti.
34 In the time of destruction they shall pour out their force: and they shall appease the wrath of him that made them.	34 Nel tempo della fine del secolo getteranno la forza; e ritornerà in sè medesimi il furore di colui che gli fece.
35 Fire, hail, famine, and death, all these were created for vengeance.	35 Fuoco, gragnuola, fame e morte, tutte queste cose sono create a vendetta;
36 The teeth of beasts, and scorpions, and serpents, and the sword taking vengeance upon the ungodly unto destruction.	36 li denti delle bestie, li scorpioni e li serpenti e la spada che punisce in disterminamento delli iniqui.
37 In his commandments they shall feast, and they shall be ready upon earth when need is, and when their time is come they shall not transgress his word.	37 Pascerannosi nelli comandamenti suoi, e apparecchierannosi sopra terra nella necessitade, e nelli suoi tempi non travalicheranno punto.
38 Therefore from the beginning I was resolved, and I have meditated, and thought on these things and left them in writing.	38 Però sono io (sapienza) confermata dal principio; io mi consigliai e pensai e lasciai alle scritture.
39 All the works of the Lord are good, and he will furnish every work in due time.	39 Tutte l'opere di Dio sono buone, e ciascuna opera governa li suoi pesi.
40 It is not to be said: This is worse than that: for all shall be well approved in their time.	40 Non è dire: questa cosa è peggiore di quella; ogni cosa si prova nel suo tempo.
41 Now therefore with the whole heart and mouth praise ye him, and bless the name of the Lord.	41 E ora benedite e collaudate insieme il nome di Dio in ogni cuore e in ogni bocca.
