1 A wise son heareth the doctrine of his father: but he that is a scorner, beareth not when he is reproved.	1 O filho sábio ama a correcção; o que porém é mofador não faz caso, quando é repreendido. O homem (justo) será saciado de bens pelo fruto da sua boca; o desejo dos pérfidos é a violência.
2 Of the fruit of his own mouth shall a man be filled with good things: but the soul of transgressors is wicked.
3 He that keepeth his mouth, keepeth his soul: but he that hath no guard on his speech shall meet with evils.	3 Aquele que guarda a sua boca guarda a sua alma; o que é inconsiderado no falar sentirá males.
4 The sluggard willeth and willeth not: but the soul of them that work, shall be made fat.	4 O preguiçoso quer, mas em vão; a alma dos que trabalham, essa será saciada,
5 The just shall hate a lying word: but the wicked confoundeth, and shall be confounded.	5 O justo detesta a palavra mentirosa; o ímpio procura a vergonha e a desonra.
6 Justice keepeth the way of the innocent: but wickedness overthroweth the sinner.	6 A justiça guarda o caminho do integro; o pecado causa a ruína do pecador.
7 One is as it were rich, when he hath nothing: and another is as it were poor, when he hath great riches.	7 Há quem pareça rico, não tendo nada, e há quem pareça pobre, possuindo muitas riquezas.
8 The ransom of a man's life are his riches: but he that is poor beareth not reprehension.	8 O resgate da vida do homem (rico) está nas suas riquezas; o pobre nada tem com que se resgatar.
9 The light of the just giveth joy: but the lamp of the wicked shall be put out.	9 A luz (ou prosperidade) dos justos alegremente brilha; a candeia dos ímpios apagar-se-á,
10 Among the proud there are always contentions: but they that do all things with counsel, are ruled by wisdom.	10 Entre os soberbos há sempre contendas; porém aqueles que fazem tudo com conselho regem-se pela sabedoria.
11 Substance got in haste shall be diminished: but that which by little and little is gathered with the hand shall increase.	11 Os bens que se ajuntam muito depressa, desaparecem, mas os que se colhem à mão, pouco a pouco, multiplicar-se-ão.
12 Hope that is deferred afflicteth the soul: desire when it cometh is a tree of life.	12 A esperança, que se retarda, aflige a alma; o (bom) desejo que se satisfaz, é uma árvore da vida.
13 Whosoever speaketh ill of any thing, bindeth himself for the time to come: but he that feareth the commandment, shall dwell in peace. Deceitful souls go astray in sins: the just are merciful, and shew mercy.	13 Aquele que despreza uma coisa (que a lei manda) perecerá; o que teme o preceito, será recompensado.
14 The law of the wise is a fountain of life, that he may decline from the ruin of death.	14 o ensinamento do sábio é uma fonte de vida, para evitar os laços da morte.
15 Good instruction shall give grace: in the way of scorners is a deep pit.	15 Uma Inteligência sã grangeia favor, mas o caminho dos pérfidos é áspero.
16 The prudent mall doth all things with counsel: but he that is a fool, layeth open his folly.	16 O homem prudente tudo faz com conselho, mas o insensato descobre a sua loucura.
17 The messenger of the wicked shall fall into mischief: but a faithful ambassador is health.	17 O mau mensageiro traz a desgraça; o embaixador fiel é um remédio.
18 Poverty and shame to him that refuseth instruction: but he that yieldeth to reproof, shall be glorified.	18 Aquele que abandona a disciplina, experimentará indigência e ignominia: o que se sujeita a quem o repreende será glorificado.
19 The desire that is accomplished, delighteth the soul: fools hate them that flee from evil things.	19 O desejo (bom), quando.se satisfaz, deleita a alma; os insensatos sentem horror em fugir do mal.
20 He that walketh with the wise, shall be wise: a friend of fools shall become like to them.	20 Aquele que anda com os sábios, será sábio: o amigo dos insensatos tornar-se-á semelhante a eles.
21 ,21Evil pursueth sinners: and to the just good shall be repaid.	21 A desgraça persegue os pecadores; os bens serão a recompensa dos justos.
22 The good man leaveth heirs, sons, and grandsons: and the substance of the sinner is kept for the just.	22 O homem virtuoso deixa por herdeiros os seus filhos e netos; ao contrário, a riqueza do pecador está reservada para o justo.
23 Much food is in the tillage of fathers: but for others it is gathered with out judgment.	23 Há muito alimento nos campos paternos; mas os bens (amontoados) sem justiça são para outros.
24 He that spareth the rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him correcteth him betimes.	24 Aquele que poupa a vara, quer mal ao seu filho; o que o ama, corrige-o sem demora.
25 The just eateth and filleth his soul: but the belly of the wicked is never to be filled.	25 O justo come e sacia o seu apetite, mas o ventre dos maus sofre penúria.
