EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Hijos, obedezcan a sus padres en el Señor porque esto es lo justo,	1 Children, be obedient to your parents in the Lord -- that is what uprightness demands.
2 ya que el primer mandamiento que contiene una promesa es este: Honra a tu padre y a tu madre,	2 The first commandment that has a promise attached to it is: Honour your father and your mother,
3 para que seas feliz y tengas una larga vida en la tierra.	3 and the promise is: so that you may have long life and prosper in the land.
4 Padres, no irriten a sus hijos; al contrario, edúquenlos, corrigiéndolos y aconsejándolos, según el espíritu del Señor.	4 And parents, never drive your children to resentment but bring them up with correction and adviceinspired by the Lord.
5 Esclavos, obedezcan a sus patrones con temor y respeto, sin ninguna clase de doblez, como si sirvieran a Cristo;	5 Slaves, be obedient to those who are, according to human reckoning, your masters, with deep respectand sincere loyalty, as you are obedient to Christ:
6 no con una obediencia fingida que trata de agradar a los hombres, sino como servidores de Cristo, cumpliendo de todo corazón la voluntad de Dios.	6 not only when you are under their eye, as if you had only to please human beings, but as slaves ofChrist who wholeheartedly do the wil of God.
7 Sirvan a sus dueños de buena gana, como si se tratara del Señor y no de los hombres,	7 Work wil ingly for the sake of the Lord and not for the sake of human beings.
8 teniendo en cuenta que el Señor retribuirá a cada uno el bien que haya hecho, sea un esclavo o un hombre libre.	8 Never forget that everyone, whether a slave or a free man, wil be rewarded by the Lord for whateverwork he has done wel .
9 Y ustedes, patrones, compórtense de la misma manera con sus servidores y dejen a un lado las amenazas, sabiendo que el Señor de ellos, que lo es también de ustedes, está en el cielo, y no hace acepción de personas.	9 And those of you who are employers, treat your slaves in the same spirit; do without threats, and neverforget that they and you have the same Master in heaven and there is no favouritism with him.
10 Por lo demás, fortalézcanse en el Señor con la fuerza de su poder.	10 Finally, grow strong in the Lord, with the strength of his power.
11 Revístanse con la armadura de Dios, para que puedan resistir las insidias del demonio.	11 Put on the ful armour of God so as to be able to resist the devil's tactics.
12 Porque nuestra lucha no es contra enemigos de carne y sangre, sino contra los Principados y Potestades, contra los Soberanos de este mundo de tinieblas, contra los espíritus del mal que habitan en el espacio.	12 For it is not against human enemies that we have to struggle, but against the principalities and theruling forces who are masters of the darkness in this world, the spirits of evil in the heavens.
