1 Concerning other things, brothers, pray for us, so that the Word of God may advance and be glorified, just as it is among you,	1 À part cela, frères, priez pour nous. Que la Parole de Dieu continue sa course et gagne le prix, comme c’est arrivé chez vous,
2 and so that we may be freed from pertinacious and evil men. For not everyone is faithful.	2 et que nous puissions échapper aux individus indésirables et mauvais, car tous ne croient pas.
3 But God is faithful. He will strengthen you, and he will guard you from evil.	3 Le Seigneur est fidèle: il vous affermira et vous gardera du Mauvais.
4 And we have confidence about you in the Lord, that you are doing, and will continue to do, just as we have instructed.	4 Nous sommes persuadés dans le Seigneur que vous faites et ferez tout ce que nous vous disons.
5 And may the Lord direct your hearts, in the charity of God and with the patience of Christ.	5 Que le Seigneur maintienne vos cœurs tournés vers l’amour de Dieu et la capacité de souffrir du Christ!
6 But we strongly caution you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, to draw yourselves away from every brother who is walking in disorder and not according to the tradition that they received from us.	6 Frères, nous insistons auprès de vous au nom de Jésus Christ, le Seigneur: si un des frères vit de façon indisciplinée et ne se soumet pas aux traditions que vous avez reçues de nous, séparez-vous de lui.
7 For you yourselves know the manner in which you ought to imitate us. For we were not disorderly among you.	7 Vous savez comment nous imiter; au milieu de vous nous ne vivions pas sans règle.
8 Nor did we eat bread from anyone for free, but rather, we worked night and day, in hardship and weariness, so as not to be burdensome to you.	8 Nous ne nous sommes pas fait nourrir gratuitement: nous avons travaillé de jour et de nuit avec peines et fatigues pour n’être à la charge d’aucun de vous.
9 It was not as if we had no authority, but this was so that we might present ourselves as an example to you, in order to imitate us.	9 Nous en aurions eu le droit, mais nous voulions rester pour vous le modèle à imiter.
10 Then, too, while we were with you, we insisted on this to you: that if anyone was not willing to work, neither should he eat.	10 Et quand nous étions parmi vous, nous vous avons dit: celui qui ne veut pas travailler, qu’il ne mange pas.
11 For we have heard that there are some among you who act disruptively, not working at all, but eagerly meddling.	11 Mais voilà ce que nous apprenons: il y en a parmi vous qui vivent de façon désordonnée et qui, au lieu de travailler, se mêlent des affaires des autres.
12 Now we charge those who act in this way, and we beg them in the Lord Jesus Christ, that they work in silence and eat their own bread.	12 Nous avertissons ces gens-là et nous faisons appel à eux au nom du Seigneur Jésus: qu’ils travaillent de façon stable et gagnent leur pain.
13 And you, brothers, do not grow weak in doing good.	13 Et vous, frères, ne vous lassez pas de faire le bien.
14 But if anyone does not obey our word by this epistle, take note of him and do not keep company with him, so that he may be ashamed.	14 Si quelqu’un n’écoute pas ce que nous disons dans cette lettre, donnez-lui un avertissement et cessez de le fréquenter pour lui faire honte.
15 But do not be willing to consider him as an enemy; instead, correct him as a brother.	15 Ne le traitez pas en ennemi, mais reprenez-le comme un frère.
16 Then may the Lord of peace himself give you an everlasting peace, in every place. May the Lord be with all of you.	16 Que le Seigneur de la paix vous donne la paix en tout temps et partout. Que le Seigneur soit avec vous tous!
17 The greeting of Paul with my own hand, which is the seal in every epistle. So do I write.	17 La salutation finale est de ma propre main à moi, Paul: c’est mon signe de reconnaissance dans toutes mes lettres; c’est mon écriture.
18 May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.	18 Que la grâce de Jésus Christ, notre Seigneur, soit avec vous tous.
