CATHOLIC PUBLIC DOMAINEL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 A Canticle in steps. I rejoiced in the things that were said to me: “We shall go into the house of the Lord.”1 Canto de peregrinación.

Levanto mis ojos a las montañas:

¿de dónde me vendrá la ayuda?

2 Our feet were standing in your courts, O Jerusalem.2 La ayuda me viene del Señor,

que hizo el cielo y la tierra.

3 Jerusalem has been built as a city, whose participation is unto itself.3 El no dejará que resbale tu pie:

¡tu guardián no duerme!

4 For to that place, the tribes ascended, the tribes of the Lord: the testimony of Israel, to confess to the name of the Lord.4 No, no duerme ni dormita

el guardián de Israel.

5 For in that place, seats have sat down in judgment, seats above the house of David.5 El Señor es tu guardián,

es la sombra protectora a tu derecha:

6 Petition for the things that are for the peace of Jerusalem, and for abundance for those who love you.6 de día, no te dañará el sol,

ni la luna de noche.

7 Let peace be in your virtue, and abundance in your towers.7 El Señor te protegerá de todo mal

y cuidará tu vida.

8 For the sake of my brothers and my neighbors, I spoke peace about you.8 El te protegerá en la partida y el regreso,

ahora y para siempre.
9 For the sake of the house of the Lord our God, I sought good things for you.
