Jeremiah 43

NEW JERUSALEM	SAGRADA BIBLIA
1 When Jeremiah had finished tel ing all the people al the words of Yahweh their God, which Yahwehtheir God had sent him to tel them -- al the words quoted above-	1 Assim que Jeremias acabou de dizer ao povo o que o Senhor lhe tinha encarregado de transmitir,
2 Azariah son of Hoshaiah, and Johanan son of Kareah, and all those arrogant men, said to Jeremiah,'You are lying. Yahweh our God did not send you to say, "Do not go to Egypt and settle there."	2 Azarias, filho de Osaías, Joanã, filho de Carée, e todos aqueles orgulhosos exclamaram: São mentiras o que proferes. Não te deu o Senhor, nosso Deus, o encargo de nos dizer que não fôssemos morar no Egito.
3 It was Baruch son of Neriah, who keeps inciting you against us, to hand us over to the Chaldaeans sothat they can put us to death or deport us to Babylon.'	3 É Baruc, filho de Néria, que te lança contra nós com o fim de nos entregar aos caldeus para a morte e para a deportação à Babilônia.
4 So neither Johanan nor any of the military leaders nor any of the people obeyed the voice of Yahwehby staying in the country of Judah.	4 E assim Joanã, filho de Carée, os chefes e os sobreviventes do povo mostraram-se surdos à voz do Senhor que lhes ordenara permanecerem em Judá.
5 Instead, Johanan son of Kareah and al the military leaders led off the entire remnant of Judah, thosewho had come back from all the nations where they had been driven to live in the country of Judah:	5 Joanã, filho de Carée, e os chefes conduziram os sobreviventes judeus que haviam regressado dos países em que se tinham dispersado, a fim de habitarem novamente na terra de Judá.
6 men, women, children, the royal princesses too, and every single person that Nebuzaradancommander of the guard had left with Gedaliah son of Ahikam, son of Shaphan, including the prophet Jeremiahand Baruch son of Neriah.	6 Eram homens, mulheres e crianças, as princesas reais, todos os que Nabuzardã, chefe dos guardas havia deixado junto de Godolias, filho de Aicão, filho de Safã, entre eles o profeta Jeremias e Baruc, filho de Néria.
7 And so, in disobedience to the voice of Yahweh, they reached Egypt and arrived at Tahpanhes.	7 Desobedecendo, assim, à voz do Senhor, partiram para o Egito e alcançaram Táfnis.
8 At Tahpanhes the word of Yahweh was addressed to Jeremiah as fol ows,	8 Em Táfnis foi dirigida a Jeremias a palavra do Senhor nestes termos:
9 'Take some large stones and bury them in the cement on the terrace outside the entrance of Pharaoh'spalace in Tahpanhes, where the Judaeans can see you.	9 toma em tuas mãos pedras bem grandes e, ante os olhos dos judeus, introduze-as na calçada em frente à porta do palácio do faraó, em Táfnis.
10 Then say to them, "Yahweh, God of Israel, says this: Look, I shal send for my servantNebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, and he wil place his throne on these stones I have buried, and spread hiscanopy above them.	10 E, em seguida, lhes dirás: Eis o que diz o Senhor dos exércitos, Deus de Israel: vou mandar chamar aqui meu servo Nabucodonosor, rei de Babilônia; colocar-lhe-ei o trono sobre as pedras introduzidas neste lugar, e sobre elas estenderá ele também o seu tapete.
11 When he comes, he wil defeat Egypt: Those for the plague, to the plague; those for captivity, tocaptivity; those for the sword, to the sword!	11 Ele virá aqui e ferirá o Egito. O que é para a morte, à morte! O que é para o cativeiro, ao cativeiro! O que é para a espada, à espada!
12 "He wil set fire to the temples of the gods of Egypt; he wil burn these gods or take them prisoner; likea shepherd wrapping his cloak round him, so he will wrap Egypt round him, and then leave without anyonelaying hands on him.	12 Lançará fogo aos templos dos deuses do Egito, e os queimará, levando cativos {os seus ídolos}. Despojará o Egito, qual pastor a limpar seu manto, e regressará triunfante.
13 He wil break the obelisks of the temple of the Sun in Egypt, and burn down the temples of the gods ofEgypt." '	13 E destruirá os obeliscos do templo do Sol, no Egito, e entregará às chamas todos os templos dos seus deuses.
