Jeremiah 43

NEW JERUSALEM	JERUSALEM
1 When Jeremiah had finished tel ing all the people al the words of Yahweh their God, which Yahwehtheir God had sent him to tel them -- al the words quoted above-	1 Lorsque Jérémie eut achevé de dire à tout le peuple toutes les paroles de Yahvé leur Dieu, dontYahvé leur Dieu l'avait chargé pour eux -- toutes les paroles rapportées --
2 Azariah son of Hoshaiah, and Johanan son of Kareah, and all those arrogant men, said to Jeremiah,'You are lying. Yahweh our God did not send you to say, "Do not go to Egypt and settle there."	2 Azarya, fils de Hoshaya, Yohanân, fils de Qaréah, et tous ces hommes insolents répondirent àJérémie: "C'est un mensonge que tu débites. Yahvé notre Dieu ne t'a pas chargé de dire: N'allez pas en Egyptepour y séjourner.
3 It was Baruch son of Neriah, who keeps inciting you against us, to hand us over to the Chaldaeans sothat they can put us to death or deport us to Babylon.'	3 Mais c'est Baruch, fils de Nériyya, qui t'excite contre nous, pour nous livrer aux mains desChaldéens qui nous mettront à mort ou nous déporteront à Babylone.
4 So neither Johanan nor any of the military leaders nor any of the people obeyed the voice of Yahwehby staying in the country of Judah.	4 Aussi, ni Yohanân, fils de Qaréah, ni aucun des officiers, ni personne du peuple n'obéit à la voixde Yahvé en demeurant au pays de Juda.
5 Instead, Johanan son of Kareah and al the military leaders led off the entire remnant of Judah, thosewho had come back from all the nations where they had been driven to live in the country of Judah:	5 Yohanân, fils de Qaréah, et tous les chefs de l'armée emmenèrent tout le reste de Juda, ceux quiétaient revenus de chez tous les peuples où ils étaient dispersés, pour habiter au pays de Juda,
6 men, women, children, the royal princesses too, and every single person that Nebuzaradancommander of the guard had left with Gedaliah son of Ahikam, son of Shaphan, including the prophet Jeremiahand Baruch son of Neriah.	6 hommes, femmes et enfants, ainsi que les filles du roi et toutes les personnes que Nebuzaradân,commandant de la garde, avait laissées avec Godolias, fils d'Ahiqam, fils de Shaphân, notamment le prophèteJérémie et Baruch, fils de Nériyya.
7 And so, in disobedience to the voice of Yahweh, they reached Egypt and arrived at Tahpanhes.	7 Ils se rendirent donc en Egypte, puisqu'ils n'obéirent pas à la voix de Yahvé, et parvinrent àTahpanhès.
8 At Tahpanhes the word of Yahweh was addressed to Jeremiah as fol ows,	8 Or la parole de Yahvé fut adressée à Jérémie, à Tahpanhès, en ces termes:
9 'Take some large stones and bury them in the cement on the terrace outside the entrance of Pharaoh'spalace in Tahpanhes, where the Judaeans can see you.	9 Prends de grandes pierres et, en présence des Judéens, enfouis-les dans du ciment sur la terrassequi se trouve à l'entrée du palais de Pharaon, à Tahpanhès.
10 Then say to them, "Yahweh, God of Israel, says this: Look, I shal send for my servantNebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, and he wil place his throne on these stones I have buried, and spread hiscanopy above them.	10 Puis dis à ces gens: "Ainsi parle Yahvé Sabaot, le Dieu d'Israël. Voici, je vais envoyer chercherNabuchodonosor, roi de Babylone, mon serviteur; il installera son trône sur ces pierres que j'ai enfouies, et ildéploiera sur elles son dais.
11 When he comes, he wil defeat Egypt: Those for the plague, to the plague; those for captivity, tocaptivity; those for the sword, to the sword!	11 Il viendra et frappera le pays d'Egypte: Qui est pour la peste, à la peste! Qui est pour la captivité,en captivité! Qui est pour l'épée, à l'épée!
12 "He wil set fire to the temples of the gods of Egypt; he wil burn these gods or take them prisoner; likea shepherd wrapping his cloak round him, so he will wrap Egypt round him, and then leave without anyonelaying hands on him.	12 Il mettra le feu aux temples des dieux de l'Egypte, il brûlera ces dieux ou les déportera, ils'enveloppera du pays d'Egypte comme le berger s'enveloppe de son manteau, puis il en sortira en paix.
13 He wil break the obelisks of the temple of the Sun in Egypt, and burn down the temples of the gods ofEgypt." '	13 Il brisera les obélisques du temple du Soleil, qui se trouve en Egypte, et incendiera les templesdes dieux de l'Egypte.
