Jeremiah 43

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 When Jeremiah had finished tel ing all the people al the words of Yahweh their God, which Yahwehtheir God had sent him to tel them -- al the words quoted above-	1 Apenas Jeremías terminó de comunicar a todo el pueblo todas las palabras del Señor, su Dios, las que el Señor había mandado decirles –las palabras antes mencionadas –
2 Azariah son of Hoshaiah, and Johanan son of Kareah, and all those arrogant men, said to Jeremiah,'You are lying. Yahweh our God did not send you to say, "Do not go to Egypt and settle there."	2 Azarías, hijo de Maasías, Iojanán, hijo de Caréaj, y todos aquellos hombres arrogantes dijeron a Jeremías: «¡Es falso lo que tú dices! No es el Señor, nuestro Dios, el que te ha enviado a decirnos: «No entren en Egipto para residir allí»
3 It was Baruch son of Neriah, who keeps inciting you against us, to hand us over to the Chaldaeans sothat they can put us to death or deport us to Babylon.'	3 Es Baruc, hijo de Nerías, el que te instiga contra nosotros, a fin de entregarnos en manos de los caldeos, para que ellos nos maten o nos destierren a Babilonia».
4 So neither Johanan nor any of the military leaders nor any of the people obeyed the voice of Yahwehby staying in the country of Judah.	4 Pero Iojanán, hijo de Caréaj, lo mismo que todos los jefes de las tropas y todo el pueblo, se negaron a escuchar la voz del Señor, que les mandaba quedarse en el país de Judá.
5 Instead, Johanan son of Kareah and al the military leaders led off the entire remnant of Judah, thosewho had come back from all the nations where they had been driven to live in the country of Judah:	5 Iojanán, hijo de Caréaj, y todos los jefes de las tropas tomaron a todo el resto de Judá, a los que habían vuelvo a residir en el país de Judá, después de haber sido dispersados entre las naciones vecinas:
6 men, women, children, the royal princesses too, and every single person that Nebuzaradancommander of the guard had left with Gedaliah son of Ahikam, son of Shaphan, including the prophet Jeremiahand Baruch son of Neriah.	6 a los hombres, las mujeres, los niños y las hijas del rey, a todas las personas que Nebuzaradán, comandante de la guardia, había dejado con Godolías, hijo de Ajicam, hijo de Safán, y también al profeta Jeremías y a Baruc, hijo de Nerías.
7 And so, in disobedience to the voice of Yahweh, they reached Egypt and arrived at Tahpanhes.	7 Y ellos entraron en el país de Egipto, porque no escucharon la voz del Señor. Así llegaron a Tafnis.
8 At Tahpanhes the word of Yahweh was addressed to Jeremiah as fol ows,	8 La palabra del Señor llegó a Jeremías en Tafnis, en estos términos:
9 'Take some large stones and bury them in the cement on the terrace outside the entrance of Pharaoh'spalace in Tahpanhes, where the Judaeans can see you.	9 Toma en tus manos unas piedras grandes, y húndelas, a la vista de algunos judíos, en el cemento del piso de ladrillos que está a la entrada de la casa del Faraón, en Tafnis.
10 Then say to them, "Yahweh, God of Israel, says this: Look, I shal send for my servantNebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, and he wil place his throne on these stones I have buried, and spread hiscanopy above them.	10 Luego les dirás: Así habla el Señor de los ejércitos, el Dios de Israel: Miren que yo mando traer a Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia, mi servidor: él instalará su trono encima de estas piedras que yo he hundido, y extenderá sobre ellas su baldaquino.
11 When he comes, he wil defeat Egypt: Those for the plague, to the plague; those for captivity, tocaptivity; those for the sword, to the sword!	11 El vendrá y castigará al país de Egipto: ¡El destinado a la muerte, a la muerte, el destinado al cautiverio, al cautiverio, el destinado a la espada, a la espada!
12 "He wil set fire to the temples of the gods of Egypt; he wil burn these gods or take them prisoner; likea shepherd wrapping his cloak round him, so he will wrap Egypt round him, and then leave without anyonelaying hands on him.	12 Prenderá fuego a los templos de los dioses de Egipto, los quemará y llevará cautivos a los dioses; espulgará el país de Egipto como un pastor espulga su ropa, y saldrá de allí sano y salvo.
13 He wil break the obelisks of the temple of the Sun in Egypt, and burn down the temples of the gods ofEgypt." '	13 Hará pedazos los obeliscos de Bet Semes –la que está en el país de Egipto– e incendiará los templos de los dioses de Egipto.
