1 A mild answer calms wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.	1 Uma resposta branda aplaca o furor, uma palavra dura excita a cólera.
2 The tongue of the wise pours out knowledge, but the mouth of fools spurts forth folly.	2 A língua dos sábios ornamenta a ciência, a boca dos imbecis transborda loucura.
3 The eyes of the LORD are in every place, keeping watch on the evil and the good.	3 Em todo o lugar estão os olhos do Senhor, observando os maus e os bons.
4 A soothing tongue is a tree of life, but a perverse one crushes the spirit.	4 A língua sã é uma árvore de vida; a língua perversa corta o coração.
5 The fool spurns his father's admonition, but prudent is he who heeds reproof.	5 O néscio desdenha a instrução de seu pai, mas o que atende à repreensão torna-se sábio.
6 In the house of the just there are ample resources, but the earnings of the wicked are in turmoil.	6 Na casa do justo há riqueza abundante, mas perturbação nos frutos dos maus.
7 The lips of the wise disseminate knowledge, but the heart of fools is perverted.	7 Os lábios do sábio destilam saber, e não assim é o coração dos insensatos.
8 The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD, but the prayer of the upright is his delight.	8 Os sacrifícios dos pérfidos são abominação para o Senhor, a oração dos homens retos lhe é agradável.
9 The way of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD, but he loves the man who pursues virtue.	9 O Senhor abomina o caminho do mau, mas ama o que se prende à justiça.
10 Severe punishment is in store for the man who goes astray; he who hates reproof will die.	10 Severa é a correção para o que se afasta do caminho, e o que aborrece a repreensão perecerá.
11 The nether world and the abyss lie open before the LORD; how much more the hearts of men!	11 A habitação dos mortos e o abismo estão abertos diante do Senhor; quanto mais os corações dos filhos dos homens!
12 The senseless man loves not to be reproved; to wise men he will not go.	12 O zombador não gosta de quem o repreende, nem vai em busca dos sábios.
13 A glad heart lights up the face, but by mental anguish the spirit is broken.	13 O coração contente alegra o semblante, o coração triste deprime o espírito.
14 The mind of the intelligent man seeks knowledge, but the mouth of fools feeds on folly.	14 O coração do inteligente procura a ciência; a boca dos tolos sacia-se de loucuras.
15 Every day is miserable for the depressed, but a lighthearted man has a continual feast.	15 Para o aflito todos os dias são maus; para um coração contente, são um perpétuo festim.
16 Better a little with fear of the LORD than a great fortune with anxiety.	16 Vale mais o pouco com o temor do Senhor que um grande tesouro com a inquietação.
17 Better a dish of herbs where love is than a fatted ox and hatred with it.	17 Mais vale um prato de legume com amizade que um boi cevado com ódio.
18 An ill-tempered man stirs up strife, but a patient man allays discord.	18 O homem iracundo excita questões, mas o paciente apazigua as disputas.
19 The way of the sluggard is hemmed in as with thorns, but the path of the diligent is a highway.	19 O caminho do preguiçoso é como uma sebe de espinhos, o caminho dos corretos é sem tropeço.
20 A wise son makes his father glad, but a fool of a man despises his mother.	20 O filho sábio alegra seu pai; o insensato despreza sua mãe.
21 Folly is joy to the senseless man, but the man of understanding goes the straight way.	21 A loucura diverte o insensato, mas o homem inteligente segue o caminho reto.
22 Plans fail when there is no counsel, but they succeed when counselors are many.	22 Os projetos malogram por falta de deliberação; conseguem bom êxito com muitos conselheiros.
23 There is joy for a man in his utterance; a word in season, how good it is!	23 Saber dar uma resposta é fonte de alegria; como é agradável uma palavra oportuna!
24 The path of life leads the prudent man upward, that he may avoid the nether world below.	24 O sábio escala o caminho da vida, para evitar a descida à morada dos mortos.
25 The LORD overturns the house of the proud, but he preserves intact the widow's landmark.	25 O Senhor destrói a casa dos soberbos, mas firma os limites da viúva.
26 The wicked man's schemes are an abomination to the LORD, but the pure speak what is pleasing to him.	26 Os projetos dos pérfidos são abomináveis ao Senhor, mas as palavras benevolentes são puras.
27 He who is greedy of gain brings ruin on his own house, but he who hates bribes will live.	27 O homem cobiçoso perturba a sua casa, aquele que odeia os subornos viverá.
28 The just man weighs well his utterance, but the mouth of the wicked pours out evil.	28 O coração do justo estuda a sua resposta; a boca dos maus, porém, vomita o mal.
29 The LORD is far from the wicked, but the prayer of the just he hears.	29 O Senhor está longe dos maus, mas atende à oração dos justos.
30 A cheerful glance brings joy to the heart; good news invigorates the bones.	30 O brilho dos olhos alegra o coração; uma boa notícia fortifica os ossos.
31 He who listens to salutary reproof will abide among the wise.	31 Quem der atenção às repreensões salutares habitará entre os sábios.
32 He who rejects admonition despises his own soul, but he who heeds reproof gains understanding.	32 O que rejeita a correção faz pouco caso de sua vida; quem ouve a repreensão adquire sabedoria.
33 The fear of the LORD is training for wisdom, and humility goes before honors.	33 O temor do Senhor é uma escola de sabedoria. A humildade precede a glória.
