1 A mild answer calms wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.	1 Una respuesta suave calma el furor, una palabra hiriente aumenta la ira.
2 The tongue of the wise pours out knowledge, but the mouth of fools spurts forth folly.	2 La lengua de los sabios hace agradable la ciencia, la boca de los insensatos esparce necedad.
3 The eyes of the LORD are in every place, keeping watch on the evil and the good.	3 En todo lugar, los ojos de Yahveh, observando a los malos y a los buenos.
4 A soothing tongue is a tree of life, but a perverse one crushes the spirit.	4 Lengua mansa, árbol de vida, lengua perversa rompe el alma.
5 The fool spurns his father's admonition, but prudent is he who heeds reproof.	5 El tonto desprecia la corrección de su padre; quien sigue la reprensión es cauto.
6 In the house of the just there are ample resources, but the earnings of the wicked are in turmoil.	6 La casa del justo abunda en riquezas, en las rentas del malo no falta inquietud.
7 The lips of the wise disseminate knowledge, but the heart of fools is perverted.	7 Los labios de los sabios siembran ciencia, pero no así el corazón de los necios.
8 The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD, but the prayer of the upright is his delight.	8 Yahveh abomina el sacrificio de los malos; la oración de los rectos alcanza su favor.
9 The way of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD, but he loves the man who pursues virtue.	9 Yahveh abomina el camino malo; y ama al que va tras la justicia.
10 Severe punishment is in store for the man who goes astray; he who hates reproof will die.	10 Corrección severa a quien deja el camino; el que odia la reprensión perecerá.
11 The nether world and the abyss lie open before the LORD; how much more the hearts of men!	11 Seol y Perdición están ante Yahveh: ¡cuánto más los corazones de los hombres!
12 The senseless man loves not to be reproved; to wise men he will not go.	12 El arrogante no quiere ser reprendido, no va junto a los sabios.
13 A glad heart lights up the face, but by mental anguish the spirit is broken.	13 Corazón alegre hace buena cara, corazón en pena deprime el espíritu.
14 The mind of the intelligent man seeks knowledge, but the mouth of fools feeds on folly.	14 Corazón inteligente busca la ciencia, los labios de los necios se alimentan de necedad.
15 Every day is miserable for the depressed, but a lighthearted man has a continual feast.	15 Todos los días del pobre son malos, para el corazón dichoso, banquetes sin fin.
16 Better a little with fear of the LORD than a great fortune with anxiety.	16 Mejor es poco con temor de Yahveh, que gran tesoro con inquietud.
17 Better a dish of herbs where love is than a fatted ox and hatred with it.	17 Más vale un plato de legumbres, con cariño, que un buey cebado, con odio.
18 An ill-tempered man stirs up strife, but a patient man allays discord.	18 El hombre violento provoca disputas, el tardo a la ira aplaca las querellas.
19 The way of the sluggard is hemmed in as with thorns, but the path of the diligent is a highway.	19 El camino del perezoso es como un seto de espinos. la senda de los rectos es llana.
20 A wise son makes his father glad, but a fool of a man despises his mother.	20 El hijo sabio es la alegría de su padre, el hombre necio desprecia a su madre.
21 Folly is joy to the senseless man, but the man of understanding goes the straight way.	21 La necedad alegra al insensato, el hombre inteligente camina en derechura.
22 Plans fail when there is no counsel, but they succeed when counselors are many.	22 Donde no hay consultas, los planes fracasan; con muchos consejeros, se llevan a cabo.
23 There is joy for a man in his utterance; a word in season, how good it is!	23 El hombre halla alegría en la respuesta de su boca; una palabra a tiempo, ¡qué cosa más buena!
24 The path of life leads the prudent man upward, that he may avoid the nether world below.	24 Camino de la vida, hacia arriba, para el sabio, para que se aparte del seol, que está abajo.
25 The LORD overturns the house of the proud, but he preserves intact the widow's landmark.	25 La casa de los soberbios la destruye Yahveh, y mantiene en pie los linderos de la viuda.
26 The wicked man's schemes are an abomination to the LORD, but the pure speak what is pleasing to him.	26 Yahveh abomina los proyectos perversos; pero son puras las palabras agradables.
27 He who is greedy of gain brings ruin on his own house, but he who hates bribes will live.	27 Quien se da al robo, perturba su casa, quien odia los regalos, vivirá.
28 The just man weighs well his utterance, but the mouth of the wicked pours out evil.	28 El corazón del justo recapacita para responder, la boca de los malos esparce maldades.
29 The LORD is far from the wicked, but the prayer of the just he hears.	29 Yahveh se aleja de los malos, y escucha la plegaria de los justos.
30 A cheerful glance brings joy to the heart; good news invigorates the bones.	30 Una mirada luminosa alegra el corazón, una buena noticia reanima el vigor.
31 He who listens to salutary reproof will abide among the wise.	31 Oído que escucha reprensión saludable, tiene su morada entre los sabios.
32 He who rejects admonition despises his own soul, but he who heeds reproof gains understanding.	32 Quien desatiende la corrección se desprecia a sí mismo, quien escucha la reprensión adquiere sensatez.
33 The fear of the LORD is training for wisdom, and humility goes before honors.	33 El temor de Yahveh instruye en sabiduría: y delante de la gloria va la humildad.
