Psalms 33

1 A psalm for David. Rejoice in the Lord, O ye just: praise becometh the upright.	1 Giubilate nel Signore, o giusti; ai retti s'addice la lode.
2 Give praise to the Lord on the harp; sing to him with the psaltery, the instrument of ten strings.	2 Celebrate il Signore con la cetra, con l'arpa a dieci corde a lui inneggiate.
3 Sing to him a new canticle, sing well unto him with a loud noise.	3 Cantate a lui un cantico nuovo, salmodiate con arte in giubilo festoso.
4 For the word of the Lord is right, and all his works are done with faithfulness.	4 Poiché retta è la parola del Signore e fedeltà ogni sua opera.
5 He loveth mercy and judgment; the earth is full of the mercy of the Lord.	5 Egli ama la giustizia e l'equità; della misericordia del Signore è piena la terra.
6 By the word of the Lord the heavens were established; and all the power of them by the spirit of his mouth:	6 Con la parola del Signore furon fatti i cieli e col soffio della sua bocca tutto il loro ornamento.
7 Gathering together the waters of the sea, as in a vessel; laying up the depths in storehouses.	7 Egli riunì come in un otre le acque del mare, in serbatoi collocò gli abissi.
8 Let all the earth fear the Lord, and let all the inhabitants of the world be in awe of him.	8 Tema il Signore tutta la terra, lo riveriscano tutti gli abitanti del mondo;
9 For he spoke and they were made: he commanded and they were created.	9 poiché egli parlò e fu fatto, egli comandò ed esso fu creato.
10 The Lord bringeth to naught the counsels of nations; and he rejecteth the devices of people, and casteth away the counsels of princes.	10 Sventa il Signore il piano dei popoli, rende vani i propositi delle nazioni.
11 But the counsel of the Lord standeth for ever: the thoughts of his heart to all generations.	11 Il piano del Signore sussiste per sempre, il proposito del suo cuore di generazione in generazione.
12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord: the people whom he hath chosen for his inheritance.	12 Beata la nazione il cui Dio è il Signore, il popolo ch'egli s'è scelto per eredità.
13 The Lord hath looked from heaven: he hath beheld all the sons of men.	13 Il Signore guarda dal cielo, osserva tutti i figli dell'uomo.
14 From his habitation which he hath prepared, he hath looked upon all that dwell on the earth.	14 Dal luogo della sua dimora guarda su tutti gli abitanti della terra.
15 He who hath made the hearts of every one of them: who understandeth all their works.	15 Ad uno ad uno plasmò il loro cuore, egli scruta tutte le loro azioni.
16 The king is not saved by a great army: nor shall the giant be saved by his own great strength.	16 Nessun re può salvarsi con la moltitudine dei suoi soldati; nessun prode trova scampo nell'abbondanza del suo vigore.
17 Vain is the horse for safety: neither shall he be saved by the abundance of his strength.	17 Impotente è il cavallo a portar salvezza e scampo non può portare con l'abbondanza della sua forza.
18 Behold the eyes of the Lord are on them that fear him: and on them that hope in his mercy.	18 Ecco, l'occhio del Signore è sopra quelli che lo temono, su quelli che sperano nella sua misericordia,
19 To deliver their souls from death; and feed them in famine.	19 per liberare dalla morte le loro anime, per farli sopravvivere in tempo di fame.
20 Our soul waiteth for the Lord: for he is our helper and protector.	20 Verso il Signore anela l'anima nostra: egli è nostro aiuto e nostro scudo.
21 For in him our heart shall rejoice: and in his holy name we have trusted.	21 Sì, in lui gioisce il nostro cuore; sì, noi confidiamo nel santo suo nome.
22 Let thy mercy, O Lord, be upon us, as we have hoped in thee.	22 Sia su di noi, o Signore, la tua misericordia, poiché in te abbiamo posto la nostra fiducia.
