Proverbi 5

DIODATI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Figliuol mio, attendi alla mia sapienza, Inchina il tuo orecchio al mio intendimento;	1 My son, pay attention to my wisdom, listen careful y to what I know;
2 Acciocchè tu osservi gli avvedimenti, E che le tue labbra conservino la scienza.	2 so that you may preserve discretion and your lips may guard knowledge. Take no notice of a loose-living woman,
3 Perciocchè le labbra della donna straniera stillano favi di miele. E il suo palato è più dolce che olio;	3 for the lips of the adulteress drip with honey, her palate is more unctuous than oil,
4 Ma il fine di essa è amaro come assenzio, Acuto come una spada a due tagli.	4 but in the end she is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword.
5 I suoi piedi scendono alla morte; I suoi passi fanno capo all’inferno.	5 Her feet go down to death, Sheol the goal of her steps;
6 I suoi sentieri sono vaganti, senza che essa sappia ove va, Perchè non considera attentamente la via della vita.	6 far from fol owing the path of life, her course is uncertain and she does not know it.
7 Ora dunque, figliuoli, ascoltatemi, E non vi dipartite da’ detti della mia bocca.	7 And now, son, listen to me, never deviate from what I say:
8 Allontana la tua via da essa, E non accostarti all’uscio della sua casa;	8 set your course as far from her as possible, go nowhere near the door of her house,
9 Che talora tu non dia il tuo onore agli stranieri, E gli anni tuoi al crudele;	9 or she wil hand over your honour to others, the years of your life to a man without pity,
10 Che talora i forestieri non si sazino delle tue facoltà; E che le tue fatiche non vadano nella casa dello strano;	10 and strangers wil batten on your property, and your produce go to the house of a stranger,
11 E che tu non gema alla fine, Quando la tua carne ed il tuo corpo saranno consumati;	11 and, at your ending, your body and flesh having been consumed, you wil groan
12 E non dica: Come ebbi io in odio l’ammaestramento? E come rigettò il mio cuore la correzione?	12 and exclaim, 'Alas, I hated discipline, my heart spurned al correction;
13 E come non ascoltai la voce di quelli che mi ammaestravano, E non inchinai il mio orecchio a quelli che m’insegnavano?	13 I would not attend to the voice of my masters, I would not listen to those who tried to teach me.
14 Quasi che sono stato in ogni male, In mezzo della raunanza e della congregazione	14 Now I have come to nearly every kind of misery, in the assembly and in the community.'
15 Bevi delle acque della tua cisterna, E de’ ruscelli di mezzo della tua fonte.	15 Drink the water from your own storage-well, fresh water from your own spring.
16 Spandansi le tue fonti fuori, Ed i ruscelli delle tue acque per le piazze.	16 Even if your fountains overflow outside, your streams of water in the public squares:
17 Sieno quelle acque a te solo, E a niuno strano teco.	17 let them be for you alone, and not for strangers with you.
18 Sia la tua fonte benedetta; E rallegrati della moglie della tua giovanezza.	18 May your fountain-head be blessed! Find joy with the wife you married in your youth,
19 Siati ella una cerva amorosa, ed una cavriuola graziosa; Inebbrinti le sue mammelle in ogni tempo; Sii del continuo invaghito del suo amore.	19 fair as a hind, graceful as a fawn: hers the breasts that ever fill you with delight, hers the love that everholds you captive.
20 E perchè, figliuol mio, t’invaghiresti della straniera, Ed abbracceresti il seno della forestiera?	20 Why be seduced, my son, by someone else's wife, and fondle the breast of a woman who belongs toanother?
21 Conciossiachè le vie dell’uomo sieno davanti agli occhi del Signore, E ch’egli consideri tutti i suoi sentieri.	21 For the eyes of Yahweh observe human ways, and survey al human paths.
22 Le iniquità dell’empio lo prenderanno, Ed egli sarà ritenuto con le funi del suo peccato.	22 The wicked is snared in his own misdeeds, is caught in the meshes of his own sin.
23 Egli morrà per mancamento di correzione; E andrà errando per la molta sua pazzia	23 For want of discipline, he dies, led astray by his own excessive folly.
