1 Noemi, sua suocera, disse a Rut: "Figlia mia, non devo io forse cercarti una sistemazione, nella quale tu possa trovarti bene?	1 When she was back with her mother-in-law, Naomi said to her, "My daughter, I must seek a home for you that will please you.
2 Orbene Booz, con le serve del quale sei stata, non è forse nostro parente? Ecco, egli vaglia l'orzo nell'aia questa sera.	2 Now is not Boaz, with whose servants you were, a relative of ours? This evening he will be winnowing barley at the threshing floor.
3 Tu lavati, ungiti, mettiti il mantello e scendi nell'aia. Non farti vedere da lui fino a che non abbia finito di mangiare e di bere;	3 So bathe and anoint yourself; then put on your best attire and go down to the threshing floor. Do not make yourself known to the man before he has finished eating and drinking.
4 e quando si sarà coricato, osserva in quale luogo egli si sarà coricato, poi va', e scoprilo dai piedi e coricati tu stessa. Egli poi ti dirà quello che devi fare".	4 But when he lies down, take note of the place where he does so. Then go, uncover a place at his feet, and lie down. He will tell you what to do."
5 Rut le disse: "Farò tutto quello che mi hai detto".	5 "I will do whatever you advise," Ruth replied.
6 Scese infatti Rut nell'aia e fece tutto come le aveva ordinato la suocera.	6 So she went down to the threshing floor and did just as her mother-in-law had instructed her.
7 Booz mangiò e bevve e il suo cuore si rallegrò e andò a coricarsi al limite del mucchio di orzo. Ella venne piano piano, raggiunse il posto dei suoi piedi e si coricò.	7 Boaz ate and drank to his heart's content. Then when he went and lay down at the edge of the sheaves, she stole up, uncovered a place at his feet, and lay down.
8 Avvenne che a mezzanotte l'uomo si riscosse e guardò in giro ed ecco: una donna giaceva ai suoi piedi!	8 In the middle of the night, however, the man gave a start and turned around to find a woman lying at his feet.
9 Allora egli disse: "Chi sei?". Ella rispose: "Sono Rut, tua serva; stendi il lembo del tuo mantello sulla tua serva, perché tu sei il mio riscattatore".	9 He asked, "Who are you?" And she replied, "I am your servant Ruth. Spread the corner of your cloak over me, for you are my next of kin."
10 Egli disse: "Benedetta sia tu dal Signore, figlia mia; il tuo secondo atto di pietà è migliore del primo, perché non sei andata dietro ai giovani, poveri o ricchi che fossero.	10 He said, "May the LORD bless you, my daughter! You have been even more loyal now than before in not going after the young men, whether poor or rich.
11 Ora, figlia mia, non temere; tutto quello che dici io te lo farò, perché tutti nel mio popolo sanno che tu sei una donna virtuosa.	11 So be assured, daughter, I will do for you whatever you say; all my townspeople know you for a worthy woman.
12 Ora, sì, veramente, io sono il riscattatore; ma c'è un altro riscattatore più vicino di me.	12 Now, though indeed I am closely related to you, you have another relative still closer.
13 Resta qui questa notte e domani mattina: se egli vorrà riscattarti, bene, ti riscatti; ma se non vorrà riscattarti, ti riscatterò io, per la vita del Signore! Resta coricata fino al mattino".	13 Stay as you are for tonight, and tomorrow, if he wishes to claim you, good! let him do so. But if he does not wish to claim you, as the LORD lives, I will claim you myself. Lie there until morning."
14 Ella restò coricata ai suoi piedi fino al mattino, poi si alzò prima che si potesse distinguere una persona dall'altra ed egli le disse: "Che non si sappia che una donna è venuta nell'aia".	14 So she lay at his feet until morning, but rose before men could recognize one another. Boaz said, "Let it not be known that this woman came to the threshing floor."
15 Poi aggiunse: "Stendi il mantello che hai indosso e afferralo bene"; ella lo afferrò, egli vi versò sei misure di orzo e gliele mise addosso. Rut rientrò in città,	15 Then he said to her, "Take off your cloak and hold it out." When she did so, he poured out six measures of barley, helped her lift the bundle, and left for the city.
16 andò dalla suocera e questa le domandò: "Come va, figlia mia?". Ella le raccontò tutto quello che l'uomo le aveva fatto e	16 Ruth went home to her mother-in-law, who asked, "How have you fared, my daughter?" So she told her all the man had done for her,
17 disse: "Mi ha dato queste misure di orzo e ha detto: "Non tornare a mani vuote da tua suocera".	17 and concluded, "He gave me these six measures of barley because he did not wish me to come back to my mother-in-law emptyhanded!"
18 Noemi disse: "Resta qui, figlia mia, fino a che tu sappia come andrà a finire la cosa, perché l'uomo non sarà tranquillo fino a che la cosa non sia sistemata".	18 Naomi then said, "Wait here, my daughter, until you learn what happens, for the man will not rest, but will settle the matter today."
