Mi è nota la tua condotta: porti il nome di vivente e invece sei morto. | 1 "And to the angel of the church in Sardis write: 'The words of him who has the seven spirits of God and the seven stars. "'I know your works; you have the name of being alive, and you are dead. |
| 2 Sii vigilante e da' vigore a quanto resta, che altrimenti finirebbe per morire; infatti non trovo perfetta la tua condotta al cospetto del mio Dio. | 2 Awake, and strengthen what remains and is on the point of death, for I have not found your works perfect in the sight of my God. |
| 3 Tieni, dunque, in mente come hai ricevuto e udito; conserva e convertiti. Se tu però non sarai vigilante, verrò come un ladro, cioè senza che tu sappia l'ora della mia venuta. | 3 Remember then what you received and heard; keep that, and repent. If you will not awake, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what hour I will come upon you. |
| 4 Tuttavia hai alcune persone in Sardi che non hanno macchiato le loro vesti; perciò cammineranno con me in vesti bianche; sì, ne sono degne. | 4 Yet you have still a few names in Sardis, people who have not soiled their garments; and they shall walk with me in white, for they are worthy. |
| 5 Il vittorioso parimenti sarà avvolto in vesti bianche; io non ne cancellerò il nome dal libro della vita; anzi proclamerò il suo nome al cospetto del Padre mio e dei suoi angeli. | 5 He who conquers shall be clad thus in white garments, and I will not blot his name out of the book of life; I will confess his name before my Father and before his angels. |
| 6 Chi ha orecchi ascolti quello che lo Spirito dice alle chiese. | 6 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.' |
| 7 All'angelo della chiesa di Filadelfia scrivi: Così parla il Santo, il Verace, colui che possiede la chiave di Davide, colui che apre e nessuno chiude, che chiude e nessuno apre. | 7 "And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write: 'The words of the holy one, the true one, who has the key of David, who opens and no one shall shut, who shuts and no one opens. |
| 8 Mi è nota la tua condotta; ecco: metto davanti a te una porta aperta, che nessuno può chiudere. Per quanto sia poca la forza che hai, pure hai conservato la mia parola e non hai rinnegato il mio nome. | 8 "'I know your works. Behold, I have set before you an open door, which no one is able to shut; I know that you have but little power, and yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name. |
| 9 Ecco, ti dono alcuni della sinagoga di Satana, di quelli che dicono di essere Giudei e non lo sono, ma mentiscono. Ecco: farò che essi vengano e si prostrino ai tuoi piedi; e riconosceranno che io ti amo. | 9 Behold, I will make those of the synagogue of Satan who say that they are Jews and are not, but lie--behold, I will make them come and bow down before your feet, and learn that I have loved you. |
| 10 Poiché hai conservato la mia parola di costanza, anch'io ti preserverò dall'ora della prova che sta per abbattersi su tutto il mondo abitato e affliggerà gli abitanti della terra. | 10 Because you have kept my word of patient endurance, I will keep you from the hour of trial which is coming on the whole world, to try those who dwell upon the earth. |
| 11 Vengo presto: tieni stretto ciò che hai, affinché nessuno prenda la tua corona. | 11 I am coming soon; hold fast what you have, so that no one may seize your crown. |
| 12 Il vittorioso, lo porrò come colonna nel tempio del mio Dio e giammai ne uscirà; vi scriverò il nome del mio Dio e il nome della città del mio Dio, la nuova Gerusalemme che discende dal cielo da presso il mio Dio, e inoltre il mio nome nuovo. | 12 He who conquers, I will make him a pillar in the temple of my God; never shall he go out of it, and I will write on him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem which comes down from my God out of heaven, and my own new name. |

| 14 All'angelo della chiesa di Laodicea scrivi: Così parla l'Amen, il Testimone fedele e verace, il Principio della creazione di Dio. | 14 "And to the angel of the church in La-odicea write: 'The words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of God's creation. |
| 15 Mi è nota la tua condotta: che cioè non sei né freddo né caldo; oh, se tu fossi freddo o caldo! | 15 "'I know your works: you are neither cold nor hot. Would that you were cold or hot! |
| 16 Ma così, poiché tu sei tiepido, cioè né caldo né freddo, io sono sul punto di vomitarti dalla mia bocca. | 16 So, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spew you out of my mouth. |
| 17 Tu dici: "Sono ricco; sono diventato ricco, non ho bisogno di nulla"; e non ti accorgi che proprio tu sei il più infelice: miserabile, povero, cieco e nudo. | 17 For you say, I am rich, I have prospered, and I need nothing; not knowing that you are wretched, pitiable, poor, blind, and naked. |
| 18 Ti esorto ad acquistare da me oro raffinato nel fuoco, con cui arricchirti davvero; di comprarti delle vesti bianche, con cui coprirti e nascondere la tua nudità, e collirio con cui ungerti gli occhi, affinché possa vederci. | 18 Therefore I counsel you to buy from me gold refined by fire, that you may be rich, and white garments to clothe you and to keep the shame of your nakedness from being seen, and salve to anoint your eyes, that you may see. |
| 19 Quelli che amo, li rimprovero e li castigo. Affréttati perciò a convertirti. | 19 Those whom I love, I reprove and chasten; so be zealous and repent. |
| 20 Ecco: io sto alla porta e busso. Se uno, udendo la mia voce, mi aprirà la porta, io entrerò da lui e cenerò con lui ed egli con me. | 20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if any one hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me. |
| 21 Il vittorioso, lo farò sedere con me sul mio trono, proprio come io ho vinto e perciò mi sono assiso insieme al Padre mio sul suo trono. | 21 He who conquers, I will grant him to sit with me on my throne, as I myself conquered and sat down with my Father on his throne. |
| 22 Chi ha orecchi ascolti quello che lo Spirito dice alle chiese. | 22 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.'" |
