Lettera ai Colossesi 2

LA SACRA BIBBIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Voglio infatti informarvi quale dura lotta affronto per voi e per quelli di Laodicea e per quanti non mi hanno visto di persona,	1 I want you to know, then, what a struggle I am having on your behalf and on behalf of those in Laodicea,and on behalf of so many others who have never seen me face to face.
2 affinché i loro cuori siano confortati, uniti strettamente nell'amore e protesi verso una ricca e perfetta intelligenza, verso una profonda conoscenza del mistero di Dio, Cristo,	2 It is all to bind them together in love and to encourage their resolution until they are rich in the assuranceof their complete understanding and have knowledge of the mystery of God
3 nel quale sono nascosti tutti i tesori della sapienza e conoscenza.	3 in which al the jewels of wisdom and knowledge are hidden.
4 Dico questo, affinché nessuno vi seduca con argomenti speciosi.	4 I say this to make sure that no one deceives you with specious arguments.
5 Se infatti con il corpo sono lontano, con lo spirito sono con voi e vedo con gioia la vostra disciplina e la vostra saldezza nella fede per Cristo.	5 I may be absent in body, but in spirit I am there among you, delighted to find how wel -ordered you areand to see how firm your faith in Christ is.
6 Come dunque avete ricevuto il Cristo Gesù, il Signore, in lui continuate a vivere,	6 So then, as you received Jesus as Lord and Christ, now live your lives in him,
7 radicati e sopraelevati su di lui e consolidati nella fede come siete stati istruiti, abbondando in ringraziamenti.	7 be rooted in him and built up on him, held firm by the faith you have been taught, and overflowing withthanksgiving.
8 Badate che nessuno vi faccia sua preda con la "filosofia", questo fatuo inganno che si ispira alle tradizioni umane, agli elementi del mondo e non a Cristo,	8 Make sure that no one captivates you with the empty lure of a 'philosophy' of the kind that human beingshand on, based on the principles of this world and not on Christ.
9 poiché è in lui che dimora corporalmente tutta la pienezza della divinità,	9 In him, in bodily form, lives divinity in al its ful ness,
10 e voi siete stati riempiti in lui, che è il capo di ogni principio e potenza;	10 and in him you too find your own fulfilment, in the one who is the head of every sovereignty and rulingforce.
11 in lui inoltre siete stati circoncisi di una circoncisione non operata dall'uomo, ma nella spoliazione del corpo carnale, nella circoncisione del Cristo.	11 In him you have been circumcised, with a circumcision performed, not by human hand, but by thecomplete stripping of your natural self. This is circumcision according to Christ.
12 Sepolti con lui nel battesimo, in lui siete stati anche risuscitati in virtù della fede nella potenza di Dio che lo ha ridestato da morte.	12 You have been buried with him by your baptism; by which, too, you have been raised up with himthrough your belief in the power of God who raised him from the dead.
13 Proprio voi, che eravate morti per le trasgressioni e l'incirconcisione della vostra carne, Dio ha richiamato in vita con lui condonandoci tutti i falli; e,	13 You were dead, because you were sinners and uncircumcised in body: he has brought you to life withhim, he has forgiven us every one of our sins.
14 annullando le nostre obbligazioni dalle clausole a noi svantaggiose, le ha soppresse inchiodandole alla croce.	14 He has wiped out the record of our debt to the Law, which stood against us; he has destroyed it bynailing it to the cross;
15 Egli, spogliati i Prìncipi e le Potenze, ne fece pubblico spettacolo, dopo aver trionfato su di loro per suo tramite.	15 and he has stripped the sovereignties and the ruling forces, and paraded them in public, behind him inhis triumphal procession.
16 Pertanto, nessuno vi recrimini per cibi, bevande o in materia di festa annuale o di novilunio o di settimane,	16 Then never let anyone criticise you for what you eat or drink, or about observance of annual festivals,New Moons or Sabbaths.
17 che sono ombra delle cose avvenire, mentre la realtà è il corpo del Cristo.	17 These are only a shadow of what was coming: the reality is the body of Christ.
18 Nessuno arbitrariamente vi defraudi, compiacendosi in pratiche di poco conto e nel culto degli angeli, indagando su ciò che ha visto, scioccamente inorgoglito dalla sua mentalità carnale	18 Do not be cheated of your prize by anyone who chooses to grovel to angels and worship them, pinningevery hope on visions received, vainly puffed up by a human way of thinking;
19 e staccato dal capo, dal quale tutto il corpo, ricevendo nutrimento e coesione attraverso le giunture e i legamenti, realizza la crescita di Dio.	19 such a person has no connection to the Head, by which the whole body, given al that it needs andheld together by its joints and sinews, grows with the growth given by God.
20 Se siete morti con Cristo agli elementi del mondo, perché, come se viveste nel mondo, vi sottomettete a prescrizioni quali:	20 If you have really died with Christ to the principles of this world, why do you stil let rules dictate to you,as though you were still living in the world?
21 "Non prendere! Non gustare! Non toccare!"?	21 -'Do not pick up this, do not eat that, do not touch the other,'
22 Sono tutte cose destinate a logorarsi con l'uso, essendo precetti e insegnamenti umani.	22 and al about things which perish even while they are being used -- according to merely humancommandments and doctrines!
23 Hanno reputazione di saggezza a motivo della loro affettata religiosità, umiltà e austerità verso il corpo, ma sono prive di ogni valore, perché saziano la carne.	23 In these rules you can indeed find what seems to be good sense -- the cultivation of the wil , and ahumility which takes no account of the body; but in fact they have no value against self-indulgence.
