Seconda lettera ai Corinzi 1

LA SACRA BIBBIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Paolo, apostolo di Gesù Cristo per volontà di Dio, e il fratello Timoteo, alla chiesa di Dio che è a Corinto, e a tutti i santi dell'intera Acaia:	1 Paul, by the wil of God an apostle of Christ Jesus, and Timothy, our brother, to the church of God inCorinth and to al God's holy people in the whole of Achaia.
2 grazia a voi e pace da Dio nostro Padre e dal Signore Gesù Cristo.	2 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
3 Sia benedetto Dio, Padre del Signore nostro Gesù Cristo, Padre delle misericordie e Dio di ogni conforto,	3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the merciful Father and the God who givesevery possible encouragement;
4 il quale ci consola in ogni nostra tribolazione, affinché possiamo consolare quelli che si trovano in qualunque tribolazione con quel conforto con cui siamo confortati noi stessi da Dio.	4 he supports us in every hardship, so that we are able to come to the support of others, in everyhardship of theirs because of the encouragement that we ourselves receive from God.
5 Infatti, come abbondano le sofferenze di Cristo in noi, così, in virtù di Cristo, abbonda pure il nostro conforto.	5 For just as the sufferings of Christ overflow into our lives; so too does the encouragement we receive through Christ.
6 E quando siamo tribolati, è per la vostra consolazione e salvezza: quando siamo confortati, è per il vostro conforto, il quale si manifesta nel sopportare con forza le medesime sofferenze che anche noi sopportiamo.	6 So if we have hardships to undergo, this wil contribute to your encouragement and your salvation; if wereceive encouragement, this is to gain for you the encouragement which enables you to bear with perseverancethe same sufferings as we do.
7 La nostra speranza è ferma a vostro riguardo, convinti che come siete partecipi delle sofferenze lo sarete anche della consolazione.	7 So our hope for you is secure in the knowledge that you share the encouragement we receive, no lessthan the sufferings we bear.
8 Non vogliamo infatti che ignoriate, o fratelli, la tribolazione che ci è sopravvenuta nell'Asia: siamo stati gravati oltre misura, al di là delle forze, sì da dubitare anche della vita;	8 So in the hardships we underwent in Asia, we want you to be quite certain, brothers, that we wereunder extraordinary pressure, beyond our powers of endurance, so that we gave up al hope even of surviving.
9 ma abbiamo ricevuto su di noi la sentenza di morte affinché non confidassimo in noi, bensì in Dio che risuscita i morti.	9 In fact we were carrying the sentence of death within our own selves, so that we should be forced totrust not in ourselves but in God, who raises the dead.
10 Da tanta morte egli ci ha liberato e ci libererà, e abbiamo speranza in lui che ci libererà ancora,	10 He did save us from such a death and will save us -- we are relying on him to do so.
11 grazie all'aiuto della vostra preghiera per noi, affinché per il favore ottenutoci da molte persone, da parte di molti siano rese grazie per noi.	11 Your prayer for us wil contribute to this, so that, for God's favour shown to us as the result of theprayers of so many, thanks too may be given by many on our behalf.
12 Poiché noi abbiamo un vanto, ed è la testimonianza della coscienza di esserci comportati nel mondo, e particolarmente con voi, con la semplicità e limpidezza di Dio, non con la sapienza della carne, ma con la benevolenza di Dio.	12 There is one thing that we are proud of, namely our conscientious conviction that we have alwaysbehaved towards everyone, and especial y towards you, with that unal oyed holiness that comes from God,relying not on human reasoning but on the grace of God.
13 Né vi scriviamo in maniera diversa da quello che potete leggere e comprendere; e spero che comprenderete fino in fondo,	13 In our writing, there is nothing that you cannot read clearly and understand;
14 come ci avete già compreso in parte, che noi siamo il vostro vanto, come voi il nostro, nel giorno del Signore nostro Gesù.	14 and it is my hope that, just as you have already understood us partial y, so you wil understand fullythat you can be as proud of us as we shal be of you when the Day of our Lord Jesus comes.
15 E in questa fiducia avevo deciso in un primo tempo di venire, perché riceveste una seconda grazia,	15 It was with this assurance that I had been meaning to come to you first, so that you would benefitdoubly;
16 e di lì recarmi in Macedonia, per ritornare nuovamente tra voi dalla Macedonia, per essere fatto proseguire da voi verso la Giudea.	16 both to visit you on my way to Macedonia, and then to return to you again from Macedonia, so thatyou could set me on my way to Judaea.
17 Forse in questo progetto ci siamo comportati con leggerezza? O quello che decido lo decido secondo la carne, così che si trova in me il "sì, sì" e il "no, no"?	17 Since that was my purpose, do you think I lightly changed my mind? Or that my plans are based onordinary human promptings and I have in my mind Yes, yes at the same time as No, no?
18 Come è vero che Dio è fedele, la nostra parola verso di voi non è "sì" e "no"!	18 As surely as God is trustworthy, what we say to you is not both Yes and No.
19 Poiché il Figlio di Dio, Gesù Cristo che è stato predicato tra voi da me, da Silvano e Timoteo, non fu "sì" e "no", ma in lui c'è stato il "sì".	19 The Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was proclaimed to you by us, that is, by me and by Silvanus andTimothy, was never Yes-and-No; his nature is al Yes.
20 Tutte le promesse di Dio in lui sono diventate "sì". Per questo, attraverso lui, sale a Dio anche il nostro "Amen" per la sua gloria.	20 For in him is found the Yes to al God's promises and therefore it is 'through him' that we answer'Amen' to give praise to God.
21 E Dio stesso ci conferma, insieme a voi, in Cristo, e ci ha conferito l'unzione	21 It is God who gives us, with you, a sure place in Christ
22 e ci ha dato il sigillo e la caparra dello Spirito nei nostri cuori.	22 and has both anointed us and marked us with his seal, giving us as pledge the Spirit in our hearts.
23 Io però chiamo Dio a testimonio sulla mia vita, che non sono venuto a Corinto per risparmiarvi.	23 By my life I cal on God to be my witness that it was only to spare you that I did not come to Corinthagain.
24 No, non comandiamo sulla vostra fede, ma siamo i collaboratori della vostra gioia; ché, quanto alla fede, voi state saldi.	24 We have no wish to lord it over your faith, but to work with you for your joy; for your stand in the faith isfirm.
