Amos 3

LA SACRA BIBBIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Ascoltate questa parola che il Signore ha pronunciato contro di voi, figli d'Israele, contro tutta la stirpe che ho fatto salire dalla terra d'Egitto:	1 Listen, Israelites, to this prophecy which Yahweh pronounces against you, against the whole familywhich I brought up from Egypt:
2 Soltanto voi ho conosciuto tra tutte le stirpi del mondo. Perciò visiterò contro di voi tutte le vostre iniquità.	2 You alone have I intimately known of all the families of earth, that is why I shal punish you for al yourwrong-doings.
3 Faranno forse viaggio due insieme, se non si sono messi d'accordo?	3 Do two people travel together unless they have agreed to do so?
4 Ruggirà forse il leone nella foresta, senz'avere una preda? Darà forse il leoncello la sua voce dalla sua tana, se non ha preso qualcosa?	4 Does the lion roar in the forest if it has no prey? Does the young lion growl in his lair if it has caughtnothing?
5 O cadrà l'uccelletto nella trappola a terra, se non v'è laccio in essa? O scatterà una trappola dal suolo, se non ha preso qualcosa?	5 Does a bird fall on the ground in a net unless a trap has been set for it? Will the net spring up from theground without catching something?
6 Se squillerà tromba in città, il popolo non sarà atterrito? Se accadrà sventura in città, non sarà il Signore che l'ha fatto?	6 Does the trumpet sound in the city without the people being alarmed? Does misfortune come to a city ifYahweh has not caused it?
7 In verità il Signore Dio non fa cosa alcuna, se non ha rivelato il suo disegno ai suoi servi i profeti.	7 No indeed, Lord Yahweh does nothing without revealing his secret to his servants the prophets.
8 Il leone ha ruggito, chi non tremerà? Il Signore Dio ha parlato, chi non profeterà?	8 The lion roars: who is not afraid? Lord Yahweh has spoken: who will not prophesy?
9 Fate udire sui palazzi in Asdòd e sui palazzi nella terra d'Egitto, e dite: Raccoglietevi sui monti di Samaria e vedete: agitazioni grandi nel mezzo di essa ed estorsioni nell'interno di essa.	9 From the palace roofs of Assyria and from the palace roofs of Egypt, proclaim aloud, 'Assemble on thehil s of Samaria and observe the grave disorders inside her and the acts of oppression there!'
10 Non sanno far cosa retta, dice il Signore, essi che accumulano violenza e sopruso nei loro palazzi.	10 Little they know of right conduct -declares Yahweh- who cram their palaces with violence andextortion.
11 Perciò così ha detto il Signore Dio: Un oppressore! E' attorno alla terra! Farà crollare giù da te la tua fortezza e saranno saccheggiati i tuoi palazzi.	11 This is why -- Lord Yahweh says this- an enemy will soon besiege the land, he wil bring down yourstrength and your palaces wil be looted.
12 Così ha detto il Signore: Come un pastore salva, strappando dalle fauci del leone, due zampe o l'estremità di un orecchio, così saranno strappati i figli d'Israele, essi, che abitano in Samaria su un cantuccio di lettino, alla testata di un divano.	12 Yahweh says this: As the shepherd rescues two legs or the tip of an ear from the lion's mouth, so wilthe children of Israel be salvaged who now lol in Samaria in the corners of their beds, on their divans ofDamascus.
13 Ascoltate e attestate nella casa di Giacobbe: oracolo del Signore, Dio delle schiere.	13 Listen and testify against the House of Jacob -declares the Lord Yahweh, God Sabaoth-
14 Davvero, nel giorno in cui giudicherò le prevaricazioni d'Israele contro di lui, farò visita contro gli altari di Betel; saranno spezzati i corni dell'altare e cadranno a terra.	14 the day when I punish Israel for his crimes I shal also punish the altars of Bethel; the horns of thealtar wil be hacked off and wil fal to the ground.
15 Percuoterò la casa dell'inverno insieme alla casa dell'estate, periranno le case d'avorio e verranno meno molte abitazioni. Oracolo del Signore.	15 I shall blast winter house with summer house, ivory houses wil be destroyed and many mansionscease to be -declares Yahweh.
