LA SACRA BIBBIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Ricordati, Signore, di quanto ci è accaduto, guarda e vedi il nostro ludibrio!	1 Yahweh, remember what has happened to us; consider, and see our degradation.
2 La nostra eredità è passata a stranieri, le nostre case a sconosciuti.	2 Our heritage has passed to strangers, our homes to foreigners.
3 Orfani siamo diventati, senza padre, le nostre madri sono come vedove.	3 We are orphans, we are fatherless; our mothers are like widows.
4 Beviamo la nostra acqua a prezzo d'argento, acquistiamo a pagamento la nostra legna.	4 We have to buy our own water to drink, our own wood we can get only at a price.
5 Con un giogo sul collo siamo inseguiti: siamo esausti e non ci è dato riposo.	5 The yoke is on our necks; we are persecuted; exhausted we are, al owed no rest.
6 All'Egitto abbiamo teso la mano, all'Assiria, per saziarci di pane.	6 We made a pact with Egypt, with Assyria, to have plenty of food.
7 I nostri padri hanno peccato e non sono più, a noi sono addossate le loro colpe.	7 Our ancestors sinned; they are no more, and we bear the weight of their guilt.
8 Schiavi signoreggiano su di noi, nessuno può strapparci dalle loro mani.	8 Slaves rule us; there is no one to rescue us from their clutches.
9 A rischio della nostra vita ci procuriamo il pane dinanzi alla spada del deserto.	9 At peril of our lives we earn our bread, by risking the sword of the desert.
10 La nostra pelle s'è screpolata come un forno per l'ardore della fame.	10 Our skin is as hot as an oven, from the scorch of famine.
11 Alle donne hanno fatto oltraggio in Sion, alle vergini nella città di Giuda.	11 The women in Zion have been raped, the young girls in the towns of Judah.
12 Hanno impiccato i nobili con le loro mani, non è stato onorato il volto dei vegliardi.	12 Princes have been hanged by their hands; the face of the old has won no respect.
13 I giovani sono stati aggiogati alla macina di grano, i ragazzi sono caduti sotto il carico di legna.	13 Youths have been put to the mil , boys stagger under loads of wood.
14 I vegliardi hanno cessato di adunarsi alla porta, i giovani hanno cessato le loro canzoni.	14 The elders have deserted the gateway; the young have given up their music.
15 E' finita la gioia del nostro cuore: s'è volta in lutto la nostra danza.	15 Joy has vanished from our hearts; our dancing has turned to mourning.
16 E' caduta la corona dal nostro capo: guai a noi che abbiamo peccato!	16 The crown has fallen from our heads. Alas that ever we sinned!
17 Per questo s'è ammalato il nostro cuore, per questo si sono intorbiditi i nostri occhi:	17 This is why our hearts are sick; this is why our eyes are dim:
18 per il monte Sion, che è desolato: lo percorrono le volpi.	18 because Mount Zion is desolate; jackals roam to and fro on it.
19 Ma tu, Signore, resti per sempre, il tuo trono è di generazione in generazione.	19 Yet you, Yahweh, rule from eternity; your throne endures from age to age.
20 Perché ci dimenticherai in eterno? Ci abbandonerai per la lunghezza dei giorni?	20 Why do you never remember us? Why do you abandon us so long?
21 Facci ritornare a te, Signore, e noi ritorneremo, rinnova i nostri giorni come in antico!	21 Make us come back to you, Yahweh, and we will come back. Restore us as we were before!
22 Poiché non ci rigetti definitivamente né sei sdegnato oltre misura contro di noi.	22 Unless you have utterly rejected us, in an anger which knows no limit.
