| 1 Il peccato di Giuda è scritto con penna di ferro, con punta di diamante è inciso sulla tavola del loro cuore e sui corni dei loro altari, | 1 "The sin of Judah is written with a pen of iron; with a point of diamond it is engraved on the tablet of their heart, and on the horns of their altars, |
| 2 quale ricordo, per i loro figli, dei loro altari e dei loro pali sacri presso alberi verdeggianti, sulle alture elevate, | 2 while their children remember their altars and their Asherim, beside every green tree, and on the high hills, |
| 3 sulle montagne e nella pianura. La tua ricchezza, tutti i tuoi tesori al saccheggio consegnerò, per i tuoi peccati sulle alture, entro tutti i tuoi confini. | 3 on the mountains in the open country. Your wealth and all your treasures I will give for spoil as the price of your sin throughout all your territory. |
| 4 Dovrai, perfino, ritirar la tua mano dalla tua eredità, quella che ti avevo dato, perché ti farò servire i tuoi nemici in un paese che non conosci. Un fuoco, infatti, avete acceso nell'ira mia che in eterno rimarrà acceso! | 4 You shall loosen your hand from your heritage which I gave to you, and I will make you serve your enemies in a land which you do not know, for in my anger a fire is kindled which shall burn for ever." |
| 5 Così dice il Signore: "Maledetto l'uomo che confida nell'uomo e che fa della carne il suo braccio mentre dal Signore si ritira il suo cuore! | 5 Thus says the LORD: "Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his arm, whose heart turns away from the LORD. |
| 6 Egli è qual tamarisco nella steppa che non si accorge quando giunge la felicità, ma abita tra le arsure del deserto, una terra salata che nessuno abita! | 6 He is like a shrub in the desert, and shall not see any good come. He shall dwell in the parched places of the wilderness, in an uninhabited salt land. |
| 7 Benedetto l'uomo che confida nel Signore ed è il Signore la sua speranza! | 7 "Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, whose trust is the LORD. |
| 8 Egli sarà come albero piantato presso l'acqua, verso il ruscello spinge le sue radici; non se ne accorge quando giunge il calore e permane verde il suo fogliame; perfino nell'anno di siccità non si preoccupa e non cessa di produrre il suo frutto. | 8 He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit." |
| 9 Ingannevole è il cuore più di ogni cosa e incurabile! Chi lo può conoscere? | 9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately corrupt; who can understand it? |
| 10 Io, il Signore, scruto il cuore ed esamino i reni per giudicare ciascuno secondo la propria condotta, secondo il frutto delle proprie azioni. | 10 "I the LORD search the mind and try the heart, to give to every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his doings." |
| 11 Pernice che cova ma non ha deposto, è chi accumula ricchezza ingiustamente. A metà dei suoi giorni deve lasciarla e al termine suo apparirà uno stolto". | 11 Like the partridge that gathers a brood which she did not hatch, so is he who gets riches but not by right; in the midst of his days they will leave him, and at his end he will be a fool. |
| 12 Trono di gloria eccelso fin dall'inizio è il luogo del nostro santuario. | 12 A glorious throne set on high from the beginning is the place of our sanctuary. |
| 13 Speranza di Israele, Signore, chiunque ti abbandona, arrossirà! Chi si allontana da te, in terra sarà scritto, perché ha abbandonato la sorgente d'acqua viva, il Signore! | 13 O LORD, the hope of Israel, all who forsake thee shall be put to shame; those who turn away from thee shall be written in the earth, for they have forsaken the LORD, the fountain of living water. |
| 14 Guariscimi, Signore, e sarò guarito, salvami e sarò salvato. Sì, il mio vanto sei tu! | 14 Heal me, O LORD, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved; for thou art my praise. |
| 15 Ecco, essi mi dicono: "Dov'è la parola del Signore? Orsù, si realizzi!". | 15 Behold, they say to me, "Where is the word of the LORD? Let it come!" |
| 16 Io, tuttavia, non ho insistito per la sventura presso di te e il giorno irrimediabile non ho desiderato. Tu lo sai! Quanto è uscito dal mio labbro è allo scoperto alla tua presenza. | 16 I have not pressed thee to send evil, nor have I desired the day of disaster, thou knowest; that which came out of my lips was before thy face. |
| 17 Non divenire, per me, uno spavento: mio rifugio sei tu nel giorno della sventura. | 17 Be not a terror to me; thou art my refuge in the day of evil. |
| 18 Arrossiscano i miei persecutori, ma non arrossisca io; siano essi spaventati, ma non sia spaventato io; manda contro di loro il giorno di sventura, con doppia distruzione distruggili! | 18 Let those be put to shame who persecute me, but let me not be put to shame; let them be dismayed, but let me not be dismayed; bring upon them the day of evil; destroy them with double destruction! |
| 19 Così mi ha detto il Signore: "Va' e poniti alla porta dei figli del popolo, per la quale entrano ed escono i re di Giuda, e presso tutte le porte di Gerusalemme. | 19 Thus said the LORD to me: "Go and stand in the Benjamin Gate, by which the kings of Judah enter and by which they go out, and in all the gates of Jerusalem, |
| 20 Dirai loro: Ascoltate la parola del Signore, o re di Giuda, voi tutti di Giuda e voi tutti abitanti di Gerusalemme che entrate per queste porte. | 20 and say: 'Hear the word of the LORD, you kings of Judah, and all Judah, and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, who enter by these gates. |
| 21 Così dice il Signore: Badate bene, per la vostra vita, a non trasportare carichi in giorno di sabato e a non introdurli per le porte di Gerusalemme. | 21 Thus says the LORD: Take heed for the sake of your lives, and do not bear a burden on the sabbath day or bring it in by the gates of Jerusalem. |
| 22 Non portate pesi fuori dalle vostre case in giorno di sabato e non fate alcuna opera servile, ma santificate il giorno di sabato come io ho ordinato ai vostri padri. | 22 And do not carry a burden out of your houses on the sabbath or do any work, but keep the sabbath day holy, as I commanded your fathers. |
| 23 Ma essi non ascoltarono e non piegarono il loro orecchio, ma indurirono la loro cervice per non ascoltare e per non accettare l'ammaestramento. | 23 Yet they did not listen or incline their ear, but stiffened their neck, that they might not hear and receive instruction. |
| 24 Ma se veramente mi ascolterete, oracolo del Signore, senza introdurre carichi per le porte di questa città in giorno di sabato, ma santificherete il giorno di sabato senza fare in esso alcuna opera servile, | 24 "'But if you listen to me, says the LORD, and bring in no burden by the gates of this city on the sabbath day, but keep the sabbath day holy and do no work on it, |
| 25 allora entreranno per queste porte della città re e prìncipi, seduti sul trono di Davide, cavalcando carri e cavalli, essi e i loro prìncipi, gli uomini di Giuda e gli abitanti di Gerusalemme, e abiteranno questa città per sempre. | 25 then there shall enter by the gates of this city kings who sit on the throne of David, riding in chariots and on horses, they and their princes, the men of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and this city shall be inhabited for ever. |
| 26 Verranno dalle città di Giuda e dai dintorni di Gerusalemme e dal territorio di Beniamino, dalla Sefela, dalla montagna e dal Negheb, offriranno olocausto e sacrificio, offerta e incenso e renderanno lode alla casa del Signore. | 26 And people shall come from the cities of Judah and the places round about Jerusalem, from the land of Benjamin, from the Shephelah, from the hill country, and from the Negeb, bringing burnt offerings and sacrifices, cereal offerings and frankincense, and bringing thank offerings to the house of the LORD. |
| 27 Ma se non mi ascolterete, santificando il giorno di sabato, senza trasportare pesi in giorno di sabato e senza introdurli per le porte di Gerusalemme, allora accenderò un fuoco contro le sue porte: esso divorerà i palazzi di Gerusalemme e non si estinguerà". | 27 But if you do not listen to me, to keep the sabbath day holy, and not to bear a burden and enter by the gates of Jerusalem on the sabbath day, then I will kindle a fire in its gates, and it shall devour the palaces of Jerusalem and shall not be quenched.'" |
