| 1 Ora ascolta, Giacobbe, servo mio, Israele che ho eletto! | 1 "But now hear, O Jacob my servant, Israel whom I have chosen! |
| 2 Così parla il Signore, che ti ha fatto, ti ha formato nel seno materno e ti aiuta: "Non temere, servo mio Giacobbe, Iesurùn, che ho eletto! | 2 Thus says the LORD who made you, who formed you from the womb and will help you: Fear not, O Jacob my servant, Jeshurun whom I have chosen. |
| 3 Perché farò scorrere acqua nella steppa e fiumi nella terra arida. Effonderò il mio spirito sulla tua progenie e la mia benedizione sulla tua posterità. | 3 For I will pour water on the thirsty land, and streams on the dry ground; I will pour my Spirit upon your descendants, and my blessing on your offspring. |
| 4 Cresceranno come erba in mezzo all'acqua, come salici lungo i corsi d'acqua. | 4 They shall spring up like grass amid waters, like willows by flowing streams. |
| 5 Questi dirà: "Io appartengo al Signore", quegli si chiamerà col nome di Giacobbe; un altro scriverà sulla mano: "del Signore", e verrà indicato con il nome d'Israele". | 5 This one will say, 'I am the LORDs,' another will call himself by the name of Jacob, and another will write on his hand, 'The LORDs,' and surname himself by the name of Israel." |
| 6 Così parla il Signore, il re d'Israele, il suo redentore, il Signore degli eserciti: "Io sono il primo e io sono l'ultimo, all'infuori di me non vi è Dio. | 6 Thus says the LORD, the King of Israel and his Redeemer, the LORD of hosts: "I am the first and I am the last; besides me there is no god. |
| 7 Chi è come me? Lo proclami! Lo annunci e me lo esponga! Chi ha fatto intendere le cose future dall'eternità? Ci annuncino ciò che succederà! | 7 Who is like me? Let him proclaim it, let him declare and set it forth before me. Who has announced from of old the things to come? Let them tell us what is yet to be. |
| 8 Non lasciatevi spaventare e non temete! Non l'ho forse fatto intendere e annunciato da molto tempo? Voi ne siete testimoni: vi è forse un dio all'infuori di me? Non vi è una roccia! Non ne conosco!". | 8 Fear not, nor be afraid; have I not told you from of old and declared it? And you are my witnesses! Is there a God besides me? There is no Rock; I know not any." |
| 9 I fabbricatori di idoli sono tutti un niente e i loro oggetti preziosi non valgono a nulla. I loro testimoni non vedono e non comprendono, per cui saranno coperti di vergogna. | 9 All who make idols are nothing, and the things they delight in do not profit; their witnesses neither see nor know, that they may be put to shame. |
| 10 Chi forma un dio e fonde il simulacro senza attendere vantaggio? | 10 Who fashions a god or casts an image, that is profitable for nothing? |
| 11 Ecco, tutti i suoi seguaci saranno coperti di confusione e gli artigiani non sono che uomini. Si raccolgano tutti e si presentino! Saranno insieme spaventati e confusi. | 11 Behold, all his fellows shall be put to shame, and the craftsmen are but men; let them all assemble, let them stand forth, they shall be terrified, they shall be put to shame together. |
| 12 Il fabbro lavora il ferro sulle braci e col martello gli dà la forma, lo rifinisce col suo braccio vigoroso, soffre la fame ed è estenuato, non beve acqua e si stanca. | 12 The ironsmith fashions it and works it over the coals; he shapes it with hammers, and forges it with his strong arm; he becomes hungry and his strength fails, he drinks no water and is faint. |
| 13 Il falegname stende il regolo, disegna l'idolo con lo stilo, lo fabbrica con scalpelli, lo misura con il compasso facendolo a forma d'uomo, come una splendida figura umana, perché possa abitare in un tempio. | 13 The carpenter stretches a line, he marks it out with a pencil; he fashions it with planes, and marks it with a compass; he shapes it into the figure of a man, with the beauty of a man, to dwell in a house. |
| 14 Egli si taglia i cedri, prende un cipresso o una quercia, che fa crescere vigorosi tra gli alberi della foresta; egli pianta un frassino, che la pioggia fa crescere. | 14 He cuts down cedars; or he chooses a holm tree or an oak and lets it grow strong among the trees of the forest; he plants a cedar and the rain nourishes it. |
| 15 Ciò serve all'uomo per bruciare; ne prende una parte, e si scalda e ancora ne accende il fuoco e cuoce il pane; con il resto fabbrica un dio e l'adora, ne fa un simulacro e lo venera. | 15 Then it becomes fuel for a man; he takes a part of it and warms himself, he kindles a fire and bakes bread; also he makes a god and worships it, he makes it a graven image and falls down before it. |
| 16 Una metà la brucia al fuoco e sulle sue braci cuoce la carne, mangia l'arrosto e si sazia, inoltre si riscalda e dice: "Ah, mi sono riscaldato, ho visto la fiamma!". | 16 Half of it he burns in the fire; over the half he eats flesh, he roasts meat and is satisfied; also he warms himself and says, "Aha, I am warm, I have seen the fire!" |
| 17 Con il resto egli fabbrica un dio, un simulacro, lo venera, lo adora e gli rivolge la preghiera dicendo: "Salvami, perché tu sei il mio dio!". | 17 And the rest of it he makes into a god, his idol; and falls down to it and worships it; he prays to it and says, "Deliver me, for thou art my god!" |
| 18 Non sanno e non comprendono, perché i loro occhi sono coperti in modo da non vedere, i loro cuori impediti in modo da non comprendere. | 18 They know not, nor do they discern; for he has shut their eyes, so that they cannot see, and their minds, so that they cannot understand. |
| 19 Egli non considera nel suo cuore, non ha né scienza né intelligenza per dire: "La metà l'ho bruciata sul fuoco e sulle sue braci ho anche cotto il pane; ho arrostito la carne e l'ho mangiata; con il resto fabbricherò l'abominazione, venererò un pezzo di legno"? | 19 No one considers, nor is there knowledge or discernment to say, "Half of it I burned in the fire, I also baked bread on its coals, I roasted flesh and have eaten; and shall I make the residue of it an abomination? Shall I fall down before a block of wood?" |
| 20 Egli si pasce di cenere, il suo cuore sedotto lo travia; egli non salverà la sua vita e non dirà: "Non è forse una falsità ciò che tengo in mano?". | 20 He feeds on ashes; a deluded mind has led him astray, and he cannot deliver himself or say, "Is there not a lie in my right hand?" |
| 21 "Ricorda queste cose, o Giacobbe, o Israele, poiché tu sei il mio servo! Ti ho formato, tu sei il mio servo; o Israele, io non ti dimenticherò! | 21 Remember these things, O Jacob, and Israel, for you are my servant; I formed you, you are my servant; O Israel, you will not be forgotten by me. |
| 22 Ho disperso come una nube le tue trasgressioni, i tuoi peccati come una nuvola. Ritorna a me, perché io ti ho redento". | 22 I have swept away your transgressions like a cloud, and your sins like mist; return to me, for I have redeemed you. |
| 23 Giubilate, o cieli, perché il Signore ha agito! Esultate, profondità della terra! Gridate di gioia, o montagne, e tu, foresta, con tutti i tuoi alberi! Perché il Signore ha redento Giacobbe e ha manifestato la sua gloria in Israele. | 23 Sing, O heavens, for the LORD has done it; shout, O depths of the earth; break forth into singing, O mountains, O forest, and every tree in it! For the LORD has redeemed Jacob, and will be glorified in Israel. |
| 24 Così parla il Signore, il tuo redentore, colui che ti ha formato fin dal seno materno: "Io sono il Signore che ha creato tutto, che da solo ho disteso i cieli, ho fissato la terra: chi era con me? | 24 Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer, who formed you from the womb: "I am the LORD, who made all things, who stretched out the heavens alone, who spread out the earth-- Who was with me? -- |
| 25 Io anniento i presagi degli indovini e faccio delirare i maghi; faccio indietreggiare i sapienti e rendo folle la loro scienza. | 25 who frustrates the omens of liars, and makes fools of diviners; who turns wise men back, and makes their knowledge foolish; |
| 26 Confermo la parola del mio servo e do successo al consiglio dei miei inviati; io che dico a Gerusalemme: "Sarai abitata" ed alle città di Giuda: "Sarete ricostruite", e riedificherò le sue rovine. | 26 who confirms the word of his servant, and performs the counsel of his messengers; who says of Jerusalem, 'She shall be inhabited,' and of the cities of Judah, 'They shall be built, and I will raise up their ruins'; |
| 27 Sono io che dico all'oceano: "Séccati", e faccio inaridire i tuoi fiumi. | 27 who says to the deep, 'Be dry, I will dry up your rivers'; |
| 28 Sono io che dico a Ciro: "Mio pastore"! Ed egli compirà tutti i miei desideri; che dico a Gerusalemme: "Sarai riedificata", ed al tempio: "Sarai ristabilito"!". | 28 who says of Cyrus, 'He is my shepherd, and he shall fulfil all my purpose'; saying of Jerusalem, 'She shall be built,' and of the temple, 'Your foundation shall be laid.'" |
