Isaia 1

LA SACRA BIBBIA	NEW AMERICAN BIBLE
1 Visione che Isaia, figlio di Amoz, ebbe su Giuda e Gerusalemme al tempo di Ozia, Iotam, Acaz ed Ezechia, re di Giuda.	1 The vision which Isaiah, son of Amoz, had concerning Judah and Jerusalem in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz and Hezekiah, kings of Judah.
2 Udite, cieli, ascolta, terra, poiché parla il Signore: "Ho cresciuto dei figli, li ho esaltati, ed essi si sono ribellati contro di me.	2 Hear, O heavens, and listen, O earth, for the LORD speaks: Sons have I raised and reared, but they have disowned me!
3 Il bue riconosce il suo proprietario, e l'asino la mangiatoia del suo padrone, ma Israele non conosce e il mio popolo non comprende".	3 An ox knows its owner, and an ass, its master's manger; But Israel does not know, my people has not understood.
4 Guai alla nazione peccatrice, al popolo carico di iniquità, alla razza di malfattori, ai figli corrotti! Hanno abbandonato il Signore, hanno disprezzato il Santo d'Israele, si sono voltati indietro.	4 Ah! sinful nation, people laden with wickedness, evil race, corrupt children! They have forsaken the LORD, spurned the Holy One of Israel, apostatized.
5 Dove volete ancora essere colpiti, voi che accumulate ribellioni? Tutta la testa è inferma, tutto il cuore languisce.	5 Where would you yet be struck, you that rebel again and again? The whole head is sick, the whole heart faint.
6 Dalla pianta del piede fino al capo, niente vi è d'intatto; ferite, lividure e piaghe aperte non sono state pulite né fasciate né lenite con olio.	6 From the sole of the foot to the head there is no sound spot: Wound and welt and gaping gash, not drained, or bandaged, or eased with salve.
7 Il vostro paese è desolato, le vostre città bruciate dal fuoco, il vostro suolo, gli stranieri lo divorano in vostra presenza; la desolazione è come una catastrofe prodotta da stranieri.	7 Your country is waste, your cities burnt with fire; Your land before your eyes strangers devour (a waste, like Sodom overthrown)--
8 La figlia di Sion è rimasta come una capanna in una vigna, come un rifugio in un campo di cocomeri, come una città assediata.	8 And daughter Zion is left like a hut in a vineyard, Like a shed in a melon patch, like a city blockaded.
9 Se il Signore degli eserciti non ci avesse lasciato alcuni scampati, saremmo come Sodoma, rassomiglieremmo a Gomorra.	9 Unless the LORD of hosts had left us a scanty remnant, We had become as Sodom, we should be like Gomorrah.
10 Ascoltate la parola del Signore, magistrati di Sodoma, prestate orecchio all'insegnamento del nostro Dio, popolo di Gomorra!	10 Hear the word of the LORD, princes of Sodom! Listen to the instruction of our God, people of Gomorrah!
11 Che m'importa dell'abbondanza dei vostri sacrifici?, dice il Signore. Sono sazio degli olocausti degli arieti e del grasso dei vitelli. Il sangue dei tori, degli agnelli e dei capri non lo gradisco.	11 What care I for the number of your sacrifices? says the LORD. I have had enough of whole-burnt rams and fat of fatlings; In the blood of calves, lambs and goats I find no pleasure.
12 Quando venite a presentarvi davanti a me, chi richiede da voi che calpestiate i miei atri?	12 When you come in to visit me, who asks these things of you?
13 Cessate di portare oblazioni inutili, l'incenso è per me un'abominazione, noviluni, sabati, pubbliche assemblee, non sopporto iniquità e feste solenni.	13 Trample my courts no more! Bring no more worthless offerings; your incense is loathsome to me. New moon and sabbath, calling of assemblies, octaves with wickedness: these I cannot bear.
14 L'anima mia odia i vostri noviluni e le vostre solennità; esse sono per me un peso, sono stanco di sopportarle.	14 Your new moons and festivals I detest; they weigh me down, I tire of the load.
15 Quando tendete le vostre mani, io chiudo i miei occhi davanti a voi. Anche quando moltiplicate la preghiera, io non ascolto, le vostre mani sono piene di sangue.	15 When you spread out your hands, I close my eyes to you; Though you pray the more, I will not listen. Your hands are full of blood!
16 Lavatevi, purificatevi, rimuovete dal mio cospetto il male delle vostre azioni, cessate di operare il male.	16 Wash yourselves clean! Put away your misdeeds from before my eyes; cease doing evil;
17 Imparate a fare il bene, ricercate il diritto, soccorrete l'oppresso, rendete giustizia all'orfano, difendete la vedova.	17 learn to do good. Make justice your aim: redress the wronged, hear the orphan's plea, defend the widow.
18 Orsù, venite e discutiamo, dice il Signore: se i vostri peccati sono come scarlatto, diventeranno bianchi come neve; se sono rossi come la porpora, diventeranno come lana.	18 Come now, let us set things right, says the LORD: Though your sins be like scarlet, they may become white as snow; Though they be crimson red, they may become white as wool.
19 Se sarete volonterosi ed obbedirete, mangerete i beni del paese.	19 If you are willing, and obey, you shall eat the good things of the land;
20 Ma se rifiutate e vi ribellate, sarete divorati dalla spada, perché la bocca del Signore ha parlato.	20 But if you refuse and resist, the sword shall consume you: for the mouth of the LORD has spoken!
21 Come mai è divenuta una meretrice la città fedele? Era piena di rettitudine, la giustizia abitava in essa, ora invece vi abitano gli assassini.	21 How has she turned adulteress, the faithful city, so upright! Justice used to lodge within her, but now, murderers.
22 Il tuo argento è diventato scorie, il tuo vino mescolato con acqua.	22 Your silver is turned to dross, your wine is mixed with water.
23 I tuoi prìncipi sono ribelli e compagni di ladri; tutti essi amano regali e corrono dietro alle ricompense. Non fanno giustizia all'orfano e la causa della vedova non giunge fino ad essi.	23 Your princes are rebels and comrades of thieves; Each one of them loves a bribe and looks for gifts. The fatherless they defend not, and the widow's plea does not reach them.
24 Perciò, oracolo del Signore, Dio degli eserciti, il Potente d'Israele: Ah, mi vendicherò dei miei avversari e farò vendetta dei miei nemici!	24 Now, therefore, says the Lord, the LORD of hosts, the Mighty One of Israel: Ah! I will take vengeance on my foes and fully repay my enemies!
25 Stenderò la mia mano sopra di te, purificherò le tue scorie, come in un forno rimuoverò tutto il tuo piombo.	25 I will turn my hand against you, and refine your dross in the furnace, removing all your alloy.
26 Renderò i tuoi giudici di nuovo come all'inizio e i tuoi consiglieri come al principio; dopo di ciò sarai chiamata "città della giustizia" "città fedele".	26 I will restore your judges as at first, and your counselors as in the beginning; After that you shall be called city of justice, faithful city.
27 Sion sarà redenta attraverso il giudizio e i suoi convertiti per la giustizia.	27 Zion shall be redeemed by judgment, and her repentant ones by justice.
28 Ma i ribelli e i peccatori saranno insieme annientati, e quelli che abbandonano il Signore periranno.	28 Rebels and sinners alike shall be crushed, those who desert the LORD shall be consumed.
29 Sì, sarete confusi a causa delle querce che amate, e arrossirete a causa dei giardini che prediligete.	29 You shall be ashamed of the terebinths which you prized, and blush for the groves which you chose.
30 Sì, sarete come quercia dalle foglie cadenti e come giardino cui manca l'acqua.	30 You shall become like a tree with falling leaves, like a garden that has no water.
31 Il vigoroso diventerà stoppa e la sua opera una favilla, ambedue bruceranno insieme e nessuno le spegnerà.	31 The strong man shall turn to tow, and his work shall become a spark; Both shall burn together, and there shall be none to quench the flames.
