1 Perché si son mobilitate le genti e i popoli fan vani progetti?	1 Why do the nations protest and the peoples grumble in vain?
2 S'accampano i re della terra e i potenti hanno fatto alleanza contro il Signore e il suo consacrato:	2 Kings on earth rise up and princes plot together against the LORD and his anointed:
3 "Spezziamo le loro catene e il loro giogo gettiamo via da noi!".	3 "Let us break their shackles and cast off their chains!"
4 Colui che siede nei cieli se ne ride, il Signore si fa beffe di loro.	4 The one enthroned in heaven laughs; the Lord derides them,
5 Allora parlerà nella sua ira, nel suo sdegno li metterà in scompiglio:	5 Then speaks to them in anger, terrifies them in wrath:
6 "Ma io ho consacrato il mio re sul Sion, il mio santo monte!".	6 "I myself have installed my king on Zion, my holy mountain."
7 Proclamerò il decreto che il Signore ha pronunciato: "Mio figlio sei tu, io in questo giorno ti ho generato!	7 I will proclaim the decree of the LORD, who said to me, "You are my son; today I am your father.
8 Solo che tu me lo chieda, porrò le genti qual tua eredità, tua porzione saranno i confini della terra.	8 Only ask it of me, and I will make your inheritance the nations, your possession the ends of the earth.
9 Li spezzerai con verga di ferro, come vaso di argilla li frantumerai".	9 With an iron rod you shall shepherd them, like a clay pot you will shatter them."
10 E ora intendete, o re, accogliete l'ammonimento, governatori della terra.	10 And now, kings, give heed; take warning, rulers on earth.
11 Servite al Signore in timore e in tremore	11 Serve the LORD with fear; with trembling bow down in homage, Lest God be angry and you perish from the way in a sudden blaze of anger. Happy are all who take refuge in God!
12 baciate i suoi piedi: affinché non s'adiri e voi periate nella via; poiché in un baleno la sua ira divampa. Beati coloro che si rifugiano in lui!
