1 Quando Israele uscì dall'Egitto, la casa di Giacobbe di mezzo a un popolo straniero,	1 When Israel went out of Egypt, the house of Jacob from a people of strange language;
2 Giuda diventò il suo santuario, Israele il suo dominio.	2 Judah was his sanctuary, and Israel his dominion.
3 Il mare vide e se ne fuggì, il Giordano si volse indietro;	3 The sea saw it, and fled: Jordan was driven back.
4 i monti saltellarono come arieti, le colline come agnelli d'un gregge.	4 The mountains skipped like rams, and the little hills like lambs.
5 Che hai tu, mare, che fuggi, e tu, Giordano, che ti volgi indietro?	5 What ailed thee, O thou sea, that thou fleddest? thou Jordan, that thou wast driven back?
6 Perché voi, monti, saltellate come arieti, e voi, colline, come agnelli d'un gregge?	6 Ye mountains, that ye skipped like rams; and ye little hills, like lambs?
7 Trema, o terra, davanti al Signore, davanti al Dio di Giacobbe:	7 Tremble, thou earth, at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob;
8 egli muta la rupe in stagno, una roccia in sorgente d'acqua.	8 Which turned the rock into a standing water, the flint into a fountain of waters.
