| 1 E disse a Mosè: "Sali dal Signore, tu, Aronne, Nadab, Abiu e settanta tra gli anziani d'Israele e vi prostrerete da lontano. | 1 And he said to Moses, "Come up to the LORD, you and Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel, and worship afar off. |
| 2 Mosè si avvicini da solo al Signore, ma essi non si avvicinino; il popolo non salirà con lui". | 2 Moses alone shall come near to the LORD; but the others shall not come near, and the people shall not come up with him." |
| 3 Mosè venne e raccontò al popolo tutte le parole del Signore e tutte le leggi, e tutto il popolo rispose a una sola voce: "Faremo tutte le cose che il Signore ha detto". | 3 Moses came and told the people all the words of the LORD and all the ordinances; and all the people answered with one voice, and said, "All the words which the LORD has spoken we will do." |
| 4 Mosè scrisse tutte le parole del Signore. Si alzò al mattino e costruì un altare sotto il monte, con dodici stele per le dodici tribù d'Israele. | 4 And Moses wrote all the words of the LORD. And he rose early in the morning, and built an altar at the foot of the mountain, and twelve pillars, according to the twelve tribes of Israel. |
| 5 Poi mandò alcuni giovani tra i figli d'Israele e offrirono olocausti e immolarono dei torelli come sacrifici di comunione in onore del Signore. | 5 And he sent young men of the people of Israel, who offered burnt offerings and sacrificed peace offerings of oxen to the LORD. |
| 6 Mosè prese la metà del sangue e la mise in bacini e metà del sangue la versò sull'altare. | 6 And Moses took half of the blood and put it in basins, and half of the blood he threw against the altar. |
| 7 Prese il libro dell'alleanza e lo lesse agli orecchi del popolo e dissero: "Faremo e ascolteremo tutto quello che il Signore ha detto". | 7 Then he took the book of the covenant, and read it in the hearing of the people; and they said, "All that the LORD has spoken we will do, and we will be obedient." |
| 8 Mosè prese il sangue e lo versò sul popolo e disse: "Ecco il sangue dell'alleanza, che il Signore ha contratto con voi con tutte queste parole". | 8 And Moses took the blood and threw it upon the people, and said, "Behold the blood of the covenant which the LORD has made with you in accordance with all these words." |
| 9 Mosè salì, con Aronne, Nadab, Abiu e i settanta anziani d'Israele. | 9 Then Moses and Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel went up, |
| 10 Videro il Dio d'Israele: sotto i suoi piedi c'era come un pavimento in piastre di zaffiro, della purezza dello stesso cielo. | 10 and they saw the God of Israel; and there was under his feet as it were a pavement of sapphire stone, like the very heaven for clearness. |
| 11 Non stese la sua mano contro i privilegiati dei figli d'Israele: guardarono il Signore, poi mangiarono e bevvero. | 11 And he did not lay his hand on the chief men of the people of Israel; they beheld God, and ate and drank. |
| 12 Il Signore disse a Mosè: "Sali da me sul monte e tienti là: ti darò delle tavole di pietra, la legge e i comandamenti che ho scritto per istruirli". | 12 The LORD said to Moses, "Come up to me on the mountain, and wait there; and I will give you the tables of stone, with the law and the commandment, which I have written for their instruction." |
| 13 Mosè si alzò con Giosuè suo servo, e salì sul monte di Dio. | 13 So Moses rose with his servant Joshua, and Moses went up into the mountain of God. |
| 14 Agli anziani disse: "Restate qui fino a quando ritorneremo da voi. Ecco Aronne e Cur con voi: chi avrà qualcosa si avvicinerà a loro". | 14 And he said to the elders, "Tarry here for us, until we come to you again; and, behold, Aaron and Hur are with you; whoever has a cause, let him go to them." |
| 15 Mosè salì sul monte e la nube coprì il monte. | 15 Then Moses went up on the mountain, and the cloud covered the mountain. |
| 16 La gloria del Signore dimorò sul monte Sinai e la nube lo coprì per sei giorni: al settimo giorno il Signore chiamò Mosè dal mezzo della nube. | 16 The glory of the LORD settled on Mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it six days; and on the seventh day he called to Moses out of the midst of the cloud. |
| 17 Al vederla, la gloria del Signore era come fuoco divorante in cima al monte, agli occhi dei figli d'Israele. | 17 Now the appearance of the glory of the LORD was like a devouring fire on the top of the mountain in the sight of the people of Israel. |
| 18 Mosè entrò nel mezzo della nube, salì sul monte e rimase sul monte quaranta giorni e quaranta notti. | 18 And Moses entered the cloud, and went up on the mountain. And Moses was on the mountain forty days and forty nights. |
