1 Then the leaders of the families of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, from the stock of the sons of Joseph, approached and spoke to Moses before the leaders of Israel, and they said:	1 Ma i principi delle famiglie di Galaad figliuolo di Machir figliuolo di Manasse, dellastirpe de' figliuoli di Giuseppe, andarono a parlare a Mosè dinanzi ai principi d'Israele, edissero:
2 “The Lord has instructed you, our ruler, so that you would divide the land by lot to the sons of Israel, and so that you would give to the daughters of Zelophehad, our brother, the possession owed to their father.	2 Il Signore ha dato ordine a te, signor nostro, che tu divida a sorte la terra tra ifigliuoli d'Israele, e che tu dia alle figliuole di Salphaad nostro fratello la porzionedovuta al padre:
3 But if men of another tribe receive them as wives, their possession will follow them, and having been transferred to another tribe, there will be a reduction in our inheritance.	3 Or se elle si mariteranno a persone di altra tribù, riterranno seco i loro beni, i qualitrasportati in altra tribù, diminuiranno la nostra eredità.
4 And so it may be that, when the Jubilee of remission, that is, the fiftieth year, has arrived, the distribution by lots shall be confounded, and the possession of the one shall be transferred to others.”	4 E così egli avverrà che venuto l'anno del giubbileo, cioè il cinquantesimo anno diremissione, la distribuzione fatta a sorte resterà confusa: e i beni degli uni passerannoagli altri.
5 Moses answered the sons of Israel, and, at the instruction of the Lord, he said: “The tribe of the sons of Joseph has spoken correctly.	5 Rispose Mosè a' figliuoli d'Israele disse per ordine del Signore: Bene ha parlato la tribùde' figliuoli di Giuseppe.
6 And so, this is the law which has been promulgated by the Lord about the daughters of Zelophehad: Let them marry whomever they may wish, but only among the men of their own tribe,	6 Ed ecco la legge stabilita dal Signore per le figliuole di Salphaad: Sposino chi vorranno,purché prendano uomini della loro tribù:
7 lest the possession of the sons of Israel become commingled, from tribe to tribe. For all men shall take wives from their own tribe and kinship;	7 Affinché non vadano a confondersi i beni de' figliuoli d'Israele col passare d'una in altratribù. Imperocché tutti gli uomini prenderanno moglie della loro tribù, e famiglia:
8 and all women shall take husbands from their same tribe, so that the inheritance may remain within the families,	8 E tutte le donne prenderanno marito della stessa tribù, affinché l'eredità resti nellafamiglia,
9 and so that the tribes may not be mingled together, but may remain such as they were separated by the Lord.”	9 E le tribù non si mescolino insieme, ma si rimangano,
10 And the daughters of Zelophehad acted according to what was ordered.	10 Come dal Signore furon distinte. E le figliuole di Salphaad fecero, come era stato lorocomandato.
11 And Mahlah, and Tirzah, and Hoglah, and Milcah, and Noa were wed to the sons of their paternal uncle,	11 E Maala, e Thersa, ed Hegla, e Melcha, e Noa sposarono i figliuoli dello zio loro paterno
12 from the family of Manasseh, who was a son of Joseph. And the possession which had been distributed to them remained in the tribe and family of their father.	12 Della famiglia di Manasse, il quale fu figliuolo di Giuseppe: e i beni che furono ad esseassegnati restarono nella tribù, e nella famiglia del padre loro.
13 These are the commandments and judgments which the Lord ordered by the hand of Moses to the sons of Israel, in the plains of Moab, above the Jordan, opposite Jericho.	13 Queste sono le leggi e gli ordini dati dal Signore per mezzo di Mosè a' figliuoli d'Israelenelle pianure di Moab lungo il Giordano dirimpetto a Gerico.
