Proverbs 2

1 My son, if you would accept my words, and conceal my commandments within you,	1 Figliuol mio, se tu vorrai dar ricetto alle mio parole, e riporre gli insegnamenti miei nel tuo seno,
2 so that your ears may listen to wisdom, then bend your heart in order to know prudence.	2 Affinchè le tue orecchie siano intente alle voci della sapienza, rivolgi il cuor tuo a conoscere la prudenza:
3 For if you would call upon wisdom and bend your heart to prudence,	3 Perocché se tu invocherai la sapienza, e il cuor tuo rivolgerai alla prudenza;
4 if you will seek her like money, and dig for her as if for treasure,	4 Se cercherai di lei, come si fa delle ricchezze, e la scaverai, come si fa dei tesori,
5 then you will understand the fear of the Lord, and you will discover the knowledge of God.	5 Allora tu apparerai il timor del Signore, e troverai la scienza di Dio:
6 For the Lord bestows wisdom, and out of his mouth, prudence and knowledge.	6 Perocché il Signore è quegli, che da la sapienza, e dalla bocca di lui (viene) la prudenza, e la scienza.
7 He will preserve the salvation of the righteous, and he will protect those who walk in simplicity:	7 Egli è il custode della salute de' giusti, e protettore di quelli, che camminano nella innocenza.
8 serving the paths of justice, and guarding the ways of sanctity.	8 E' regge i passi de' giusti, e governa le vie dei santi.
9 Then you shall understand justice and judgment, and equity, and every good path.	9 Allora tu intenderai la giustizia, la rettitudine, e l'equità, e tutti i sentieri della onestà.
10 If wisdom is to enter into your heart, and if knowledge is to become pleasing to your soul,	10 Se entrerà in cuor tuo la sapienza, e se la scienza sarà tuo diletto,
11 then counsel must guard you, and prudence must serve you,	11 Tuo custode sarà il buon consiglio, e la prudenza ti salverà,
12 so that you may be rescued from the evil way, and from the man who speaks perversities,	12 Lontano tenendoti dalla via del male, e dagli uomini di lingua perversa:
13 from those who leave the straight path to walk in dark ways,	13 I quali abbandonan la via diritta, e battono vie tenebrose.
14 who rejoice when they have done evil, and who exult in the most wicked things.	14 I quali si rallegrano del male, che han fatto, e delle loro malvagità fanno festa.
15 Their ways are perverse, and their steps are infamous.	15 Le vie de' quali son storte, e vituperesi i loro andamenti.
16 So may you be rescued from the foreign woman, and from the outsider, who softens her speech,	16 Ella ti farà star lontano dalla donna altrui, e dalla donna straniera, che ha melate parole.
17 and who leaves behind the Guide of her youth,	17 E abbandona il rettore di sua giovinezza,
18 and who has forgotten the covenant of her God. For her household inclines toward death, and her paths toward Hell.	18 Ed ha messo in dimenticanza il patto del Dio suo: la casa di lei declina verso la morte, e le sue vie verso l'inferno.
19 All those who enter to her will not return again, nor will they take hold of the paths of life.	19 Tutti quelli, che entrano in casa di lei non torneranno indietro, né ripiglieranno le vie della vita.
20 So may you walk in the good way, and keep to the difficult paths of the just.	20 Affinchè tu segua la buona strada e non esca dai sentieri de' giusti.
21 For those who are upright shall live upon the earth, and the simple shall continue upon it.	21 Perocché gli uomini retti abiteranno la terra, e gli innocenti vi averan ferma stanza.
22 Yet truly, the impious shall perish from the earth, and those who act unjustly shall be taken away from it.	22 Ma gli empj saranno sterminati dalla terra, e quelli, che operano iniquamente, ne saranno rapiti.
