Proverbs 2

1 My son, if you would accept my words, and conceal my commandments within you,	1 Reçois mes paroles, garde mon enseignement;
2 so that your ears may listen to wisdom, then bend your heart in order to know prudence.	2 que ton oreille, mon fils, s’ouvre à la sagesse, que ton cœur se plie à la vérité;
3 For if you would call upon wisdom and bend your heart to prudence,	3 fais appel à l’intelligence et laisse-toi guider par la raison;
4 if you will seek her like money, and dig for her as if for treasure,	4 cherche la sagesse comme l’argent, comme un trésor caché:
5 then you will understand the fear of the Lord, and you will discover the knowledge of God.	5 alors tu pénétreras dans la crainte de Yahvé et tu trouveras la connaissance de Dieu.
6 For the Lord bestows wisdom, and out of his mouth, prudence and knowledge.	6 Car c’est Yahvé qui donne la sagesse, de sa bouche sortent le savoir et la vérité.
7 He will preserve the salvation of the righteous, and he will protect those who walk in simplicity:	7 Il vient en aide aux hommes droits, il est un bouclier pour ceux qui restent honnêtes.
8 serving the paths of justice, and guarding the ways of sanctity.	8 Il reste en alerte tout au long du droit chemin pour y protéger la marche de ses fidèles.
9 Then you shall understand justice and judgment, and equity, and every good path.	9 Alors tu comprendras ce qui est juste, droit et honnête, tout ce qui mène au bonheur.
10 If wisdom is to enter into your heart, and if knowledge is to become pleasing to your soul,	10 La sagesse alors entrera dans ton cœur et le savoir sera ta jouissance.
11 then counsel must guard you, and prudence must serve you,	11 La prudence veillera sur toi, la réflexion sera ta sauvegarde;
12 so that you may be rescued from the evil way, and from the man who speaks perversities,	12 elles te tiendront à l’écart des chemins du mal et des hommes aux paroles trompeuses,
13 from those who leave the straight path to walk in dark ways,	13 qui délaissent les droits sentiers et s’en vont par les routes obscures;
14 who rejoice when they have done evil, and who exult in the most wicked things.	14 qui trouvent leur joie à faire le mal et prennent plaisir aux abominations,
15 Their ways are perverse, and their steps are infamous.	15 qui vont par des chemins tortueux, par des sentiers qui se perdent.
16 So may you be rescued from the foreign woman, and from the outsider, who softens her speech,	16 La sagesse te gardera de la femme d’un autre, de la belle inconnue aux douces paroles,
17 and who leaves behind the Guide of her youth,	17 qui abandonne le partenaire de sa jeunesse et oublie les alliances de son Dieu.
18 and who has forgotten the covenant of her God. For her household inclines toward death, and her paths toward Hell.	18 De sa maison on déboule vers la mort, ses sentiers mènent droit à la tombe.
19 All those who enter to her will not return again, nor will they take hold of the paths of life.	19 Ceux qui y vont n’en reviendront pas, ils ne retrouveront pas le chemin de la vie.
20 So may you walk in the good way, and keep to the difficult paths of the just.	20 Mais toi tu marcheras sur le chemin des gens honnêtes, tu suivras les sentiers des justes.
21 For those who are upright shall live upon the earth, and the simple shall continue upon it.	21 Car les hommes droits habiteront le pays, les gens intègres y prolongeront leurs jours.
22 Yet truly, the impious shall perish from the earth, and those who act unjustly shall be taken away from it.	22 Les méchants au contraire seront chassés du pays, les traîtres en seront expulsés.
