1 Unto the end. For those who will be changed: of David.	1 - Al corifeo: su «Gigli». Di David.
2 Save me, O God, for the waters have entered, even to my soul.	2 Salvami, o Dio, perchè son penetrate le acque sino all'anima mia;
3 I have become stuck in a deep quagmire, and there is no firm footing. I have arrived at the height of the sea, and a tempest has overwhelmed me.	3 sono immerso nel fango profondoe non c'è un punto d'appoggio; son caduto in fondo al mare e la tempesta mi sommerge.
4 I have endured hardships, while crying out. My jaws have become hoarse; my eyes have failed. Meanwhile, I hope in my God.	4 Mi son stancato a gridare, roca è la mia gola; si logorano i miei occhi nell'aspettare il mio Dio.
5 Those who hate me without cause have been multiplied beyond the hairs of my head. My enemies, who persecuted me unjustly, have been strengthened. Then I was required to pay for what I did not take.	5 Son più numerosi de' capelli del mio capoquei che m'odian senza motivo; forti sono i miei nemici che ingiustamente mi perseguitano: quel che non ho rapito, mi tocca restituire!
6 O God, you know my foolishness, and my offenses have not been hidden from you.	6 O Dio, tu sai la mia stoltezza, e i miei falli non ti son nascosti.
7 Let those who wait for you, O Lord, the Lord of hosts, not be shamed in me. Let those who seek you, O God of Israel, not be confounded over me.	7 Non arrossiscan per mequei che sperano in te, o Signore, Signore degli eserciti!non sian svergognati a motivo di mequei che ti cercano, o Dio d'Israele!
8 For because of you, I have endured reproach; confusion has covered my face.	8 Giacchè per te io sopporto l'obbrobrio, e la vergogna copre il mio volto.
9 I have become a stranger to my brothers and a sojourner to the sons of my mother.	9 Uno straniero son diventato per i miei fratellie un forestiero per i figli di mia madre.
10 For zeal for your house has consumed me, and the reproaches of those who reproached you have fallen upon me.	10 Perchè lo zelo della tua casa m'ha divoratoe gl'insulti de' tuoi ingiuriatori son ricaduti su me.
11 And I covered my soul with fasting, and it has become a reproach to me.	11 Ho afflitto col digiuno l'anima mia, e n'è derivato obbrobrio per me:
12 And I put on a haircloth as my garment, and I became a parable to them.	12 ho messo per mia veste un sacco, e son diventato la favola loro.
13 Those who sat at the gate spoke against me, and those who drank wine made me their song.	13 Sparlan di me quei che siedono alle porte, e fan canzonette su me i bevitori di vino.
14 But as for me, truly, my prayer is to you, O Lord. This time has pleased you well, O God. In the multitude of your mercy, in the truth of your salvation, hear me.	14 Ma io la mia preghiera [rivolgo] a te, o Signore: il tempo della benevolenza [è giunto già], o Dio. Nella grandezza della tua bontà esaudiscimi, con la fedeltà del tuo soccorso!
15 Rescue me from the quagmire, so that I may not become trapped. Free me from those who hate me and from deep waters.	15 Tirami su dal fango, ch'io non affondi; liberami dai quei che m'odiano e dalla profondità delle acque.
16 Do not allow the tempest of water to submerge me, nor the deep to absorb me. And do not allow the well to close in on me.	16 Non mi sommerga la tempesta de' flutti, nè m'ingoi la voragine, e non serri su mela fossa la sua bocca.
17 Hear me, O Lord, for your mercy is kind. Look upon me, according to the fullness of your compassion.	17 Esaudiscimi, o Signore, perchè la tua pietà è benigna: secondo la moltitudine delle tue misericordie china lo sguardo su me!
18 And do not turn your face away from your servant, for I am in trouble: heed me quickly.	18 Non voltar la faccia dal tuo servo; poichè son nell'angustia, affrettati ad esaudirmi!
19 Attend to my soul, and free it. Rescue me, because of my enemies.	19 Vieni all'anima mia e liberala: per via de' miei nemici, salvami!
20 You know my reproach, and my confusion, and my reverence.	20 Tu sai il mio obbrobrio, la mia vergogna e l'ignominia mia:
21 All those who trouble me are in your sight; my heart has anticipated reproach and misery. And I sought for one who might grieve together with me, but there was no one, and for one who might console me, and I found no one.	21 al tuo cospetto son tutti i miei persecutori. L'oltraggio ha spezzato il mio cuore e sono affranto. E ho atteso chi s'attristasse con me e non c' è stato, e chi mi consolasse e non l'ho trovato.
22 And they gave me gall for my food. And in my thirst, they gave me vinegar to drink.	22 E fiele m'ha dato per cibo, e nella mia sete m'hanno abbeverato d'aceto.
23 Let their table be a snare before them, and a retribution, and a scandal.	23 La loro mensa diventi dinanzi ad essi un laccioe un castigo e una pietra d'inciampo.
24 Let their eyes be darkened, so that they may not see, and may their back always be crooked.	24 Si offuschino i loro occhi, sì da non vederci [più], e il loro dorso tieni curvo sempre.
25 Pour out your indignation upon them, and may the fury of your anger take hold of them.	25 Versa su loro l'ira tuae il furore dell'ira tua gli afferri!
26 May their dwelling place be deserted, and may there be no one who dwells in their tabernacles.	26 Sia desolata la loro casae sotto le tende loro non ci sia chi abiti.
27 For they persecuted whomever you struck. And they have added to the grief of my wounds.	27 Perchè colui che tu avevi colpito, essi han perseguitato, e il dolor delle mie piaghe [hanno accresciuto].
28 Assign an iniquity upon their iniquity, and may they not enter into your justice.	28 Aggiungi iniquità alla loro iniquità, e non abbiamo accesso alla tua giustizia.
29 Delete them from the Book of the Living, and let them not be written down with the just.	29 Sian cancellati dal libro de' viventi, e tra i giusti non siano iscritti!
30 I am poor and sorrowful, but your salvation, O God, has taken me up.	30 Io son misero e dolente; il tuo soccorso salutare, o Dio, mi sollevi!
31 I will praise the name of God with a canticle, and I will magnify him with praise.	31 Celebrerò il nome di Dio con un cantico, lo magnificherò con una laude.
32 And it will please God more than a new calf producing horns and hoofs.	32 E piacerà [questo] a Dio più d'un giovenco, [più d'un] giovane [toro], che ha messo corna e unghie.
33 Let the poor see and rejoice. Seek God, and your soul will live.	33 Vedano i miseri e s'allietino;[e voi che] cercate Dio, riviva l'anima vostra!
34 For the Lord has heard the poor, and he has not despised his prisoners.	34 Perchè ascolta i miseri il Signore, e i suoi prigionieri non disprezza.
35 Let the heavens and the earth praise him: the sea, and everything that crawls in it.	35 Dian lode a lui i cieli e la terra, il mare e tutto quanto in esso si muove!
36 For God will save Zion, and the cities of Judah will be built up. And they will dwell there, and they will acquire it by inheritance.	36 Perchè Dio salverà Sione saran riedificate le città di Giuda, e vi abiteranno e la rioccuperanno:
37 And the offspring of his servants will possess it; and those who love his name will dwell in it.	37 e la stirpe de' suoi servi la possederà, e que' che amano il suo nome vi dimoreranno!
