1 Now, the boy Samuel was serving Yahweh in the presence of Eli; in those days it was rare for Yahwehto speak; visions were uncommon.	1 Отрок Самуил служил Господу при Илии; слово Господне было редко в те дни, видения [были] не часты.
2 One day, it happened that Eli was lying down in his room. His eyes were beginning to grow dim; hecould no longer see.	2 И было в то время, когда Илий лежал на своем месте, --глаза же его начали смежаться, и он не мог видеть, --
3 The lamp of God had not yet gone out, and Samuel was lying in Yahweh's sanctuary, where the ark ofGod was,	3 и светильник Божий еще не погас, и Самуил лежал в храме Господнем, где ковчег Божий;
4 when Yahweh cal ed, 'Samuel! Samuel!' He answered, 'Here I am,'	4 воззвал Господь к Самуилу: И отвечал он: вот я!
5 and, running to Eli, he said, 'Here I am, as you cal ed me.' Eli said, 'I did not call. Go back and lie down.'So he went and lay down.	5 И побежал к Илию и сказал: вот я! ты звал меня. Но тот сказал: я не звал тебя; пойди назад, ложись. И он пошел и лег.
6 And again Yahweh cal ed, 'Samuel! Samuel!' He got up and went to Eli and said, 'Here I am, as youcal ed me.' He replied, 'I did not cal , my son; go back and lie down.'	6 Но Господь в другой раз воззвал к Самуилу: Он встал, и пришел к Илию вторично, и сказал: вот я! ты звал меня. Но тот сказал: я не звал тебя, сын мой; пойди назад, ложись.
7 As yet, Samuel had no knowledge of Yahweh and the word of Yahweh had not yet been revealed tohim.	7 Самуил еще не знал тогда [голоса] Господа, и еще не открывалось ему слово Господне.
8 Again Yahweh called, the third time. He got up and went to Eli and said, 'Here I am, as you cal ed me.'Eli then understood that Yahweh was cal ing the child,	8 И воззвал Господь к Самуилу еще в третий раз. Он встал и пришел к Илию и сказал: вот я! ты звал меня. Тогда понял Илий, что Господь зовет отрока.
9 and he said to Samuel, 'Go and lie down, and if someone calls say, "Speak, Yahweh; for your servant islistening." ' So Samuel went and lay down in his place.	9 И сказал Илий Самуилу: пойди назад и ложись, и когда [Зовущий] позовет тебя, ты скажи: говори, Господи, ибо слышит раб Твой. И пошел Самуил и лег на месте своем.
10 Yahweh then came and stood by, cal ing as he had done before, 'Samuel! Samuel!' Samuelanswered, 'Speak, Yahweh; for your servant is listening.'	10 И пришел Господь, и стал, и воззвал, как в тот и другой раз: Самуил, Самуил! И сказал Самуил: говори, [Господи], ибо слышит раб Твой.
11 Yahweh then said to Samuel, 'I am going to do something in Israel which wil make the ears of all whohear of it ring.	11 И сказал Господь Самуилу: вот, Я сделаю дело в Израиле, о котором кто услышит, у того зазвенит в обоих ушах;
12 I shal carry out that day against Eli everything that I have said about his family, from beginning to end.	12 в тот день Я исполню над Илием все то, что Я говорил о доме его; Я начну и окончу;
13 You are to tel him that I condemn his family for ever, since he is aware that his sons have beencursing God and yet has not corrected them.	13 Я объявил ему, что Я накажу дом его на веки за ту вину, что он знал, как сыновья его нечествуют, и не обуздывал их;
14 Therefore -- I swear it to the family of Eli -- no sacrifice or offering shal ever expiate the guilt of Eli'sfamily.'	14 и посему клянусь дому Илия, что вина дома Илиева не загладится ни жертвами, ни приношениями хлебными вовек.
15 Samuel lay where he was until morning and then opened the doors of Yahweh's temple. Samuel wasafraid to tel Eli about the vision,	15 И спал Самуил до утра, и отворил двери дома Господня; и боялся Самуил объявить видение сие Илию.
16 but Eli cal ed Samuel and said, 'Samuel, my son.' 'Here I am,' he replied.	16 Но Илий позвал Самуила и сказал: сын мой Самуил! Тот сказал: вот я!
17 Eli asked, 'What message did he give you? Please do not hide it from me. May God bring unnameableil s on you and worse ones, too, if you hide from me anything of what he said to you.'	17 И сказал [Илий]: что сказано тебе? не скрой от меня; то и то сделает с тобою Бог, и еще больше сделает, если ты утаишь от меня что-либо из всего того, что сказано тебе.
18 Samuel then told him everything, hiding nothing from him. Eli said, 'He is Yahweh; let him do what hethinks good.'	18 И объявил ему Самуил все и не скрыл от него [ничего]. Тогда сказал [Илий]: Он--Господь; что Ему угодно, то да сотворит.
19 Samuel grew up. Yahweh was with him and did not let a single word fal to the ground of all that hehad told him.	19 И возрос Самуил, и Господь был с ним; и не осталось ни одного из слов его неисполнившимся.
20 Al Israel knew, from Dan to Beersheba, that Samuel was attested as a prophet of Yahweh.	20 И узнал весь Израиль от Дана до Вирсавии, что Самуил удостоен быть пророком Господним.
21 Yahweh continued to manifest himself at Shiloh, revealing himself to Samuel there,	21 И продолжал Господь являться в Силоме после того, как открыл Себя Самуилу в Силоме чрез слово Господне.
