1 Peter 5

1 I urge the elders among you, as a fellow-elder myself and a witness to the sufferings of Christ, and asone who is to have a share in the glory that is to be revealed:	1 Adunque li vecchi li quali son tra voi priego io, vecchio e testimonio delle passioni di Cristo, e apparizione della gloria che dee essere manifestata nel tempo che verrà,
2 give a shepherd's care to the flock of God that is entrusted to you: watch over it, not simply as a dutybut gladly, as God wants; not for sordid money, but because you are eager to do it.	2 pasciate il gregge di Dio il quale è intra voi, provedendo (allora) non constrettamente, ma spontabeamente secondo Iddio, e non per cose di sozzo guadagno,
3 Do not lord it over the group which is in your charge, but be an example for the flock.	3 nè come quelli che signoreggiano intra li clerici; ma (siate) fatti forma al gregge per volontà,
4 When the chief shepherd appears, you wil be given the unfading crown of glory.	4 acciò che, quando apparirà il principe de' pastori, riceviate corona di gloria che non marcisce.
5 In the same way, younger people, be subject to the elders. Humility towards one another must be thegarment you all wear constantly, because God opposes the proud but accords his favour to the humble.	5 Simigliantemente voi, uomini giovani, siate sottoposti alli vecchi; tutti insieme dimostrate la umilità, però che il Signore contrasta alli superbi, ma alli umili dà grazia.
6 Bow down, then, before the power of God now, so that he may raise you up in due time;	6 Umiliatevi dunque sotto alla potente mano di Dio, acciò che vi esalti nel tempo della visitazione,
7 unload al your burden on to him, since he is concerned about you.	7 tutta la vostra sollicitudine ponendo in lui, però che lui ha cura di voi.
8 Keep sober and alert, because your enemy the devil is on the prowl like a roaring lion, looking forsomeone to devour.	8 Siate temperati, e vegliate; chè il vostro avversario diavolo, sì come leone ruggente, va dintorno addomandando chi egli divori.
9 Stand up to him, strong in faith and in the knowledge that it is the same kind of suffering that thecommunity of your brothers throughout the world is undergoing.	9 Al quale contrastate, forti nella fede; sapendo d'essere fatta quella medesima passione a quella vostra fraternità, la quale è nel mondo.
10 You wil have to suffer only for a little while: the God of all grace who called you to eternal glory inChrist wil restore you, he wil confirm, strengthen and support you.	10 Ma Iddio d' ogni grazia, il quale ne chiamò nell'eternate sua gloria in Cristo Iesù, un poco passionati egli compirà e confermerà e salderà voi.
11 His power lasts for ever and ever. Amen.	11 A lui sia gloria e imperio ne' SECULA SECULORUM. Amen.
12 I write these few words to you through Silvanus, who is a trustworthy brother, to encourage you andattest that this is the true grace of God. Stand firm in it!	12 Per Silvano, fedele fratello, si come io penso, scrissi a voi brevemente, pregando e testimoniandovi, che questa è la verace grazia di Dio nella quale state.
13 Your sister in Babylon, who is with you among the chosen, sends you greetings; so does my son,Mark.	13 Salutavi la Chiesa la quale è ragunata in Babilonia, e Marco mio figliuolo.
14 Greet one another with a kiss of love. Peace to you al who are in Christ.	14 Salutatevi insieme nel santo bascio. La grazia di Dio sia con tutti voi che siete in Cristo. Amen.
