1 Is there any benefit, then, in being a Jew? Is there any advantage in being circumcised?	1 Adunque che ha in sè più il iudeo (che gli altri)? e che utilità ha fatta la circoncisione?
2 A great deal, in every way. First of al , it was to the Jews that the message of God was entrusted.	2 (Certo) molto per ogni modo. In prima, perchè al iudeo furono creduti i parlari di Dio.
3 What if some of them were unfaithful? Do you think their lack of faith could cancel God's faithfulness?	3 Ma se alquanti di loro non credettero? Or la loro incredulità ha evacuata la fede di Dio? Non già.
4 Out of the question! God wil always be true even if no human being can be relied on. As scripturesays: That you may show your saving justice when you pass sentence and your victory may appear when yougive judgement.	4 Perchè Dio è verace, e ogni uomo è bugiardo, secondo ch' egli è scritto: (Dio,) tu sarai giustificato nei tuoi sermoni, e vincerai quando tu sarai giudicato
5 But if our injustice serves to bring God's saving justice into view, can we say that God is unjust when --to use human terms -- he brings his retribution down on us?	5 Ma se la nostra iniquità loda la giustizia di Dio, che diceremo? È Dio iniquo, se dimostra la sua ira?
6 Out of the question! It would mean that God could not be the judge of the world.	6 Secondo l'uomo dico. Non piaccia a Dio; altramente come giudicarà Dio questo mondo?
7 You might as wel say that if my untruthfulness makes God demonstrate his truthfulness, to his greaterglory, then I should not be judged to be a sinner at al .	7 Chè se la verità di Dio nella mia bugia è cresciuta nella sua gloria, perchè son giudicato io come peccatore?
8 In this case, the slanderous report some people are spreading would be true, that we teach that oneshould do evil that good may come of it. In fact such people are justly condemned.	8 E non, secondo che noi siamo biastemanti, e come si dicono alquanti, facciamo male perchè ci vengano i beni; (la sentenza) de' quali è giusta la (loro) dannazione.
9 Wel : are we any better off? Not at al : we have already indicted Jews and Greeks as being al alikeunder the dominion of sin.	9 Perchè adunque? siamo prima che loro? Per niun modo; anzi sentenziamo che iudei e greci sono tutti peccatori,
10 As scripture says: Not one of them is upright, not a single one,	10 secondo ch' è scritto: non è alcuno giusto;
11 not a single one is wise, not a single one seeks God.	11 non è alcuno che intenda; non è niuno che addimandi Dio.
12 Al have turned away, all alike turned sour, not one of them does right, not a single one.	12 Tutti son inclinati al peccato; insieme sono tutti fatti inutili; non è uno che pur bene faccia.
13 Their throats are wide -- open graves, their tongues seductive. Viper's venom behind their lips;	13 La loro bocca è aperto sepolcro; e ingannavano con loro lingue; e veneno di serpente è sotto le labbra loro;
14 their speech is ful of cursing and bitterness.	14 la bocca dei quali è piena di maledizione e di amarezza;
15 Their feet quick to shed innocent blood,	15 e li loro piedi son veloci a spargere il sangue;
16 wherever they go there is havoc and ruin.	16 e nelle loro vie sì è sciagura e rompimento;
17 They do not know the way of peace,	17 e la via della pace non hanno cognosciuto;
18 there is no fear of God before their eyes.	18 il timor di Dio non è inanzi agli occhi loro.
19 Now we are wel aware that whatever the Law says is said for those who are subject to the Law, sothat every mouth may be silenced, and the whole world brought under the judgement of God.	19 Ma sappiamo che ciò che la legge dice, a coloro che son nella legge parla, acciò ogni bocca sia chiusa, e tutto il mondo sia sottoposto a Dio.
20 So then, no human being can be found upright at the tribunal of God by keeping the Law; al that theLaw does is to tell us what is sinful.	20 Imperocchè per l'opere della legge dinanzi a Dio non è giustificato alcuno. Certo per la legge è la cognizione del peccato.
21 God's saving justice was witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, but now it has been revealedaltogether apart from law:	21 Ma ora, senza la legge, la giustizia di Dio è manifestata, e testimoniata per la legge e pei profeti.
22 God's saving justice given through faith in Jesus Christ to al who believe.	22 Ma la giustizia di Dio per la fede di Iesù Cristo è sopra tutti coloro che credono in esso; perchè non è disguaglianza.
23 No distinction is made: all have sinned and lack God's glory,	23 Chè ogni uomo pecca, e ha bisogno della gloria di Dio.
24 and all are justified by the free gift of his grace through being set free in Christ Jesus.	24 E noi insieme giustificati per la grazia di Dio, e per lo ricomperamento ch' è in Iesù Cristo.
25 God appointed him as a sacrifice for reconciliation, through faith, by the shedding of his blood, and soshowed his justness; first for the past, when sins went unpunished because he held his hand;	25 Il quale propuose Dio (padre), perdonatore per la fede nel suo sangue, a dimostramento della sua giustizia, per la remissione de' peccati che sono passati,
26 and now again for the present age, to show how he is just and justifies everyone who has faith inJesus.	26 alla sofferenza di Dio, a dimostrare la sua giustizia in questo tempo; perchè elli è giusto, e facci giusti coloro che sono della fede di Iesù Cristo.
27 So what becomes of our boasts? There is no room for them. On what principle- that only actionscount? No; that faith is what counts,	27 Adunque (tu giudeo) ove è il tuo vantamento? Cessato è. Per qual legge (è cessato)? per la legge delle opere? No; ma per la legge della fede.
28 since, as we see it, a person is justified by faith and not by doing what the Law tel s him to do.	28 Imperò che noi arbitramo che l'uomo si possa salvare per la fede senza l'opere della legge.
29 Do you think God is the God only of the Jews, and not of gentiles too? Most certainly of gentiles too,	29 Sarebbe Dio pure de' giudei? Non è egli ancora di tutte l'altre genti? Si è per certo.
30 since there is only one God; he will justify the circumcised by their faith, and he will justify theuncircumcised through their faith.	30 Imperocchè quello medesimo Dio, che giustica la circoncisione dalla fede, etiam lo incirconciso per la fede.
31 Are we saying that the Law has been made pointless by faith? Out of the question; we are placing theLaw on its true footing.	31 Adunque distruggiamo la legge per la fede? Non fia; innanzi ordiniamo (e confermiamo) la legge.
