1 This is the text of the letter that the prophet Jeremiah sent from Jerusalem to those who were left of theelders in exile, to the priests, the prophets and all the people whom Nebuchadnezzar had deported fromJerusalem to Babylon.	1 - E queste sono le parole dello scritto che Geremia profeta mandò da Gerusalemme ai superstiti dei seniori della cattività, e ai sacerdoti e ai profeti, e a tutto il popolo che Nabucodonosor aveva deportato da Gerusalemme in Babilonia,
2 This was after King Jeconiah had left Jerusalem with the queen mother, the eunuchs, the chief men ofJudah and Jerusalem, and the blacksmiths and metalworkers.	2 dopo che il re Jeconia e la regina e gli eunuchi e i principi di Giuda e di Gerusalemme coi fabbri e gli artefici furono usciti da Gerusalemme;
3 The letter was entrusted to Elasah son of Shaphan and to Gemariah son of Hilkiah, whom Zedekiahking of Judah had sent to Babylon, to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon. 4 'Yahweh Sabaoth, the God of Israel, says this to al the exiles deported from Jerusalem to Babylon:	4 «Così dice il Signore degli eserciti, il Dio d'Israele a tutti i fuoriusciti che ho trasportati da Gerusalemme in esilio a Babilonia:
5 Build houses, settle down; plant gardens and eat what they produce;	5 - Fabbricatevi case e abitatele, coltivate orti e cibatevi dei loro prodotti.
6 marry and have sons and daughters; choose wives for your sons, find husbands for your daughters sothat these can bear sons and daughters in their turn; you must increase there and not decrease.	6 Ammogliatevi e procreate figliuoli e figliuole, cercate mogli ai vostri figli, e date a marito le vostre figlie, e allevino figliuoli e figliuole e crescete costì e non vogliate rimanere pochi di numero.
7 Work for the good of the city to which I have exiled you; pray to Yahweh on its behalf, since on itswelfare yours depends.	7 E cercate la pace della città nella quale vi ho fatto emigrare e pregate il Signore per essa, perchè nella sua pace sarà pace anche per voi.-
8 For Yahweh Sabaoth, the God of Israel, says this: Do not be deceived by the prophets who are withyou or by your diviners; do not listen to the dreams you have,	8 Così dice il Signore degli eserciti, il Dio d'Israele: - Non vi seducano i vostri profeti che sono in mezzo di voi e i vostri indovini, e non date retta ai sogni che sognate;
9 since they prophesy lies to you in my name. I have not sent them, Yahweh declares.	9 perchè quelli vi profetizzano falsamente in nome mio; io non li ho mandati, - dice il Signore.
10 For Yahweh says this: When the seventy years granted to Babylon are over, I shal intervene on yourbehalf and fulfil my favourable promise to you by bringing you back to this place.	10 Perchè così dice il Signore: - Quando saranno in sul compiersi, per Babilonia, settant'anni, vi visiterò e manterrò la mia parola buona di ricondurvi in questo luogo.
11 Yes, I know what plans I have in mind for you, Yahweh declares, plans for peace, not for disaster, togive you a future and a hope.	11 Perchè so ben io le intenzioni che ho sopra di voi, dice il Signore, gli intenti di pace e non di afflizione, per darvi un avvenire e la pazienza dell'attesa.
12 When you cal to me and come and pray to me, I shal listen to you.	12 Voi mi invocherete e ricorrerete a me e mi pregherete ed io vi esaudirò.
13 When you search for me, you will find me; when you search wholeheartedly for me,	13 Mi cercherete e mi troverete, se mi cercherete con tutto il vostro cuore.
14 I shal let you find me (Yahweh declares. I shal restore your fortunes and gather you in from al thenations and wherever I have driven you, Yahweh declares. I shal bring you back to the place from which I exiledyou).	14 Mi lascerò ritrovare da voi, dice il Signore, e vi ricondurrò dal vostro esilio e vi raccoglierò da tutte le nazioni e da tutti i luoghi nei quali vi aveva allontanati, dice il Signore, e vi farò tornare dal luogo ove vi aveva fatti emigrare.-
15 'Since you say: Yahweh has raised up prophets for us in Babylon-	15 A proposito di quanto avete detto: - il Signore ha fatto sorgere in Babilonia dei profeti a noi.-
16 this is what Yahweh says about the king now occupying the throne of David and all the people living inthis city, your brothers who did not go with you into exile:	16 Perchè così dice il Signore al re che siede sul trono di David, e a tutto il popolo che abita questa città, e ai vostri fratelli che non sono usciti con voi per l'esilio:
17 Yahweh Sabaoth says this: I am now going to send them sword, famine and plague; I shal makethem like rotten figs, so bad as to be uneatable.	17 - Il Signore degli eserciti dice dunque così: "Ecco ch'io manderò la spada, la fame e la peste contro di loro, e li renderò come i fichi guasti che non si possono più mangiare, perchè sono andati a male.
18 I shal pursue them with sword, famine and plague. I shall make them an object of terror to al thekingdoms of the earth, a curse, a thing of horror, scorn and derision to al the nations where I have driven them,	18 E li perseguiterò colla spada, colla fame e colla peste, e li darò alla vessazione in tutti i regni della terra, in esecrazione, orrore, ludibrio, e obbrobrio a tutte le genti tra le quali li avrò cacciati;
19 because they have refused to listen to my words, Yahweh declares, although I have persistently sentthem al my servants the prophets; but they would not listen, Yahweh declares.	19 perchè non diedero ascolto alle mie parole, dice il Signore, che mandai a dir loro per mezzo dei miei servi i profeti, facendomi premura e mandando; e non avete voluto ascoltare" - dice il Signore.
20 But al you exiles, whom I have sent from Jerusalem to Babylon, listen to Yahweh's word!	20 Ascoltate dunque la parola del Signore, voi tutti dell'esilio, che ho mandati via da Gerusalemme in Babilonia.
21 'This is what Yahweh Sabaoth, God of Israel, says about Ahab son of Kolaiah, and Zedekiah son ofMaaseiah, who prophesy lies to you in my name: I shal hand them over now to Nebuchadnezzar king ofBabylon who wil put them to death before your very eyes.	21 Così dice il Signore degli eserciti, il Dio d'Israele, ad Acab, figlio di Colia, e a Sedecia, figlio di Maasia che in nome mio vi vanno profetando il falso: - Ecco che io li consegnerò in mano di Nabucodonosor, re di Babilonia, e li farò perire sotto i vostri occhi.
22 This curse, based on their fate, wil be used by al the exiles of Judah in Babylon: May Yahweh treatyou like Zedekiah and Ahab, roasted alive by the king of Babylon,	22 E tutti gli esiliati di Giuda che sono in Babilonia prenderanno da essi argomento d'imprecazione e diranno: "Ti metta il Signore come Sedecia e come Acab, che il re di Babilonia arrostì sul fuoco!".
23 because they have done a scandalous thing in Israel, committing adultery with their neighbour's wivesand speaking lying words in my name without orders from me. I know al the same and am witness to it, Yahwehdeclares.'	23 Perchè hanno commesso una insensataggine in Israele, e hanno violato le mogli dei loro amici, e pronunciato parole mendaci in nome mio che io non avevo loro ordinato: sono giudice e testimonio io - dice il Signore.
24 'And to Shemaiah of Nehelam you wil speak as fol ows:	24 E a Semeia Neelamita dirai:
25 Yahweh Sabaoth, God of Israel, says this: Since you, on your own initiative, have sent a letter to allthe people in Jerusalem, to the priest Zephaniah son of Maaseiah (and to al the priests), saying:	25 - Così dice il Signore degli eserciti, il Dio d'Israele: "Perciocchè hai mandato scritti a nome tuo a tutto il popolo che è in Gerusalemme, e a Sofonia figlio di Maasia sacerdote, e agli altri sacerdoti dicendo:
26 Yahweh has appointed you priest in place of the priest Jehoiada to keep order in the Temple ofYahweh, to put any crazy fel ow posing as a prophet in the stocks and col ar,	26 Il signore ha costituito te sacerdote in luogo del sacerdote Joiada, perchè eserciti la tua autorità di capo nella casa del Signore, contro ogni uomo esaltato e che fa il profeta, onde metterlo in catene e in carcere.
27 why then have you not disciplined Jeremiah of Anathoth, now posing as a prophet to you?	27 Or dunque, perchè non hai tu sgridato Geremia di Anatot che si spaccia per profeta a voi?
28 Why, he has even sent us a message in Babylon, saying: It wil be a long time. Build houses, settledown; plant gardens and eat what they produce.'. . .	28 E a questo titolo ha mandato a noi in Babilonia a dire: Andrà a lungo, fabbricatevi case e abitatele, coltivate orti e cibatevi dei loro prodotti!"-».
29 (Now, after the priest Zephaniah had read this letter to the prophet Jeremiah),	29 Lesse dunque il sacerdote Sofonia questa lettera a Geremia profeta.
30 the word of Yahweh came then to Jeremiah as fol ows,	30 Il Signore allora comunicò a Geremia la sua parola dicendogli:
31 'Send this message to al the exiles, "This is what Yahweh says about Shemaiah of Nehelam: SinceShemaiah has prophesied to you without my sending him, and since he has caused you to rely on what is false	31 «Manda a tutti quei dell'esilio dicendo: - Così dice il Signore a conto di Semeia Neelamita: "Giacchè Semeia si è dato a profetare a voi e io non l'ho mandato, e vi ha fatto confidare nella menzogna,
32 for that reason, Yahweh declares, I shal punish Shemaiah of Nehelam and his descendants; no malemember of his family wil survive among this people to see the happiness that I wil bestow on my people(Yahweh declares, since he has preached rebel ion against Yahweh)." '	32 per questo, così dice il Signore: Ecco che io visiterò Semeia Neelamita e la sua figliolanza; egli non avrà nessuno che segga in mezzo a questo popolo e non vedrà il bene che io farò al mio popolo, dice il Signore, perchè ha pronunciato parole prevaricatrici contro il Signore" -».
