Sirach 39

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA VOLGARE
1 Not so with one who concentrates his mind and his meditation on the Law of the Most High. Heresearches into the wisdom of al the Ancients, he occupies his time with the prophecies.	1 Il savio ricercherae la sapienza di tutti li antichi, e istudierae nelli profeti.
2 He preserves the discourses of famous men, he is at home with the niceties of parables.	2 Conserverae li detti delli famosi uomini, ed entrerae insiememente nelle sagacitadi delle parole.
3 He researches into the hidden sense of proverbs, he ponders the obscurities of parables.	3 Ricercherae li occulti delli proverbii, e converserae nelli secreti delle parabole.
4 He enters the service of princes, he is seen in the presence of rulers. He travels in foreign countries, hehas experienced human good and human evil.	4 Amministrerae tra' grandi uomini, e apparirae nel conspetto de' rettori.
5 At dawn and with al his heart he turns to the Lord his Creator; he pleads in the presence of the MostHigh, he opens his mouth in prayer and makes entreaty for his sins.	5 Passerae nella terra delle strane genti; tenterae li mali e li beni nelli uomini.
6 If such be the wil of the great Lord, he wil be filled with the spirit of intel igence, he wil shower forthwords of wisdom, and in prayer give thanks to the Lord.	6 Il cuore suo darae a vegliare per tempo al Signore che il fece; nel conspetto dello Altissimo pregherae.
7 He will grow upright in purpose and learning, he will ponder the Lord's hidden mysteries.	7 Aprirà la bocca sua nella orazione, e per li peccati suoi pregherae.
8 He will display the instruction he has received, taking his pride in the Law of the Lord's covenant.	8 Se l'alto Dio vorrà, riempierà lui di spirito d' intelligenza.
9 Many wil praise his intel igence and it wil never be forgotten. His memory will not disappear,generation after generation his name will live.	9 Egli, sì come piova, gitterae dolci parlari della sua sapienza, e nella orazione si confesserae al Signore.
10 Nations wil proclaim his wisdom, the assembly will celebrate his praises.	10 Egli lo dirizzerae nel consiglio suo e nella disciplina; e nelli secreti suoi il consigliarae.
11 If he lives long, his name will be more glorious than a thousand others, and if he dies, that wil satisfyhim just as wel .	11 Farae manifestare la disciplina della sua dottrina, e gloriarassi nella legge del testamento del Signore.
12 And here are some more of my reflections: yes, I am as ful as the moon at the ful !	12 Molti loderanno la sapienza sua; infino nel secolo non si cancellerae (il suo senno).
13 Listen to me, devout children, and blossom like the rose that grows on the bank of a watercourse.	13 E nen si partirae la memoria di lui; il nome suo fia richiesto di generazione in generazione.
14 Give off a sweet smel like incense, flower like the lily, spread your fragrance abroad, sing a song ofpraise blessing the Lord for all his works.	14 Le genti parleranno della sapienza sua, e la chiesa dirae la lode di colui.
15 Declare the greatness of his name, proclaim his praise with song and with lyre, and this is how youmust sing his praises:	15 S'elli basterà, il nome suo lascieranne più di mille; e riposerassi, e gioveragli.
16 'How wonderful, the actions of the Lord! Whatever he orders is done at the proper time!' You must notsay, 'What is this? Why is that?' There is a proper time for every question.	16 Ancora consiglieroe, acciò che io parli; però che sì come di furore sono pieno.
17 At his word, the water stops and piles up high, at his voice, the watery reservoirs take shape,	17 Nelle voci dico: udite me, divini frutti, e fruttificate sì come rosa piantata sopra li rivi dell' acqua.
18 at his command, whatever he wants is done, no one can stop him, if he intends to save.	18 E fruttificate odore, sì come Libano.
19 He can see whatever human beings are doing, nothing can be hidden from his eye;	19 Fiorite fiori, sì come giglio; date odore e fate frondi in grazia, e conlaudate in cantico, e benedite Iddio nell' opere sue.
20 his gaze stretches from eternity to eternity, and nothing can astonish him.	20 Date al nome suo magnificenza, e confessatevi a lui nella voce delle labbra vostre nelle citare; e direte così nella confessione vostra :
21 You must not say, 'What is this? Why is that?' for everything has been made for a purpose.	21 L'opere del Signore sono tutte buone.
22 As his blessing covers the dry land like a river and soaks it like a flood,	22 Nella parola sua stette l'acqua sì come uno muro, e nel sermone dalla sua bocca sì come li ricevimenti delle acque.
23 so retribution is his legacy to the nations, just as he has turned fresh waters to salt.	23 Però che [nel] li suoi comandamenti egli è pacificatore, e non è scemamento nella salute sua.
24 His ways are as smooth for the devout, as they are ful of obstacles for the wicked.	24 L'opera d' ogni uomo è dinanzi da lui; nulla cosa è nascosa dinanzi dagli occhi suoi.
25 Good things were created from the beginning for good people, as bad ones were for sinners.	25 Di secolo in secolo guarda, e non è nel conspetto suo cosa ammirabile.
26 The prime needs of human beings for living are water and fire, iron and salt, wheat-flour, milk andhoney, the juice of the grape, oil and clothing.	26 Non è a lui a dire: che è questo, o che è quello? tutte cose in loro tempo si domanderanno.
27 Al these are good for those who are good, but turn out bad for sinners.	27 La sua benedizione sì come uno fiume si spanderà.
28 Some winds have been created for punishing, in his fury, he uses them as scourges; on the day ofdoom, they unleash their violence and appease the wrath of their Creator.	28 Come il diluvio inebriò la terra, così l'ira sua erediterae nelle genti che non cercarono lui.
29 Fire and hail, famine and death, have al been created for punishing.	29 Com' elli l'acqua convertì in siccità, e la terra è seccata, così [come] le vie della terra alle vie di loro (cioè de' fiumi) sono dirette; così saranno le offensioni nell' ira sua a' peccatori.
30 Wild animals' fangs, scorpions, vipers, the avenging sword for the ruin of the godless:	30 Dal cominciamento li beni sono creati alli buoni; così alli rei e li beni e li mali.
31 all of them exult in discharging his orders, ready on earth whenever the need arises and, when theirtime comes, not fal ing short of his word.	31 Il principio della cosa necessaria della vita degli uomini si è: acqua, fuoco, ferro e sale e latte e pane di farina monda, e miele e grappolo d' uva e olio e vestimento.
32 That is why I was determined from the outset, why I have pondered and why I have written,	32 Queste cose a' santi tutte sono ne' beni; e così si convertono in male alli malvagi e alli peccatori.
33 'The works of the Lord are all good, when the time is right, he gives whatever is needed.	33 Sono spiriti (maligni), li quali sono creati a vendetta (de' rei); e nello suo furore confermarono li suoi tormenti.
34 You must not say, "This is worse than that," for, sooner or later, everything proves its worth.	34 Nel tempo della fine del secolo getteranno la forza; e ritornerà in sè medesimi il furore di colui che gli fece.
35 So now, sing with al your heart and voice, and bless the name of the Lord!'	35 Fuoco, gragnuola, fame e morte, tutte queste cose sono create a vendetta;
	36 li denti delle bestie, li scorpioni e li serpenti e la spada che punisce in disterminamento delli iniqui.
	37 Pascerannosi nelli comandamenti suoi, e apparecchierannosi sopra terra nella necessitade, e nelli suoi tempi non travalicheranno punto.
	38 Però sono io (sapienza) confermata dal principio; io mi consigliai e pensai e lasciai alle scritture.
	39 Tutte l'opere di Dio sono buone, e ciascuna opera governa li suoi pesi.
	40 Non è dire: questa cosa è peggiore di quella; ogni cosa si prova nel suo tempo.
	41 E ora benedite e collaudate insieme il nome di Dio in ogni cuore e in ogni bocca.
