Nehemiah 3

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA VOLGARE
1 Eliashib the high priest with his brother priests then set to work and rebuilt the Sheep Gate; they madethe framework, hung its doors, fixed its bolts and bars and proceeded as far as the Tower of the Hundred andthe Tower of Hananel.	1 E levossi Eliasib, lo grande sacerdote, e li suoi fratelli sacerdoti, ed edificorono la porta degli animali; loro (dopo questo) la santificorono, e statuirono (ordinorono ed edificorono) le sue porte, e persino alla torre (per lo spazio) di cento cubiti santificorono quella, persino alla torre Ananeel.
2 The men of Jericho built next to him; Zaccur son of Imri built next to them.	2 E appo lui edificorono gli uomini di Ierico; e appo lui edificò Zacur figliuolo di Amri.
3 The sons of Ha-Senaah rebuilt the Fish Gate; they made the framework, hung its doors and fixed itsbolts and bars.	3 E la porta de' pesci edificorono i figliuoli di Asnaa; loro (la ordinorono e) coprìrla, e fecero le sue porte e serrature e le stanghe; e appo loro edificoe Marimut figliuolo di Uria figliuolo di Accus.
4 Meremoth son of Uriah, son of Hakkoz, carried out repairs next to them; Meshul am son of Berechiah,son of Meshezabel, carried out repairs next to him; and Zadok son of Baana carried out repairs next to him.	4 E appo lui edificò Mosollam figliuolo di Barachia figliuolo di Mesezebel; e appo lui edificò Sadoc figliuolo di Baana.
5 The men of Tekoa carried out repairs next to him, though their nobles would not demean themselves tohelp their masters.	5 E appo costoro edificorono i Tecueniti; e li loro principali e onorati non si volleno adoperare nell'opera del suo Signore Iddio.
6 Joiada son of Paseah and Meshul am son of Besodeiah repaired the gate of the New Quarter; theymade the framework, hung its doors and fixed its bolts and bars.	6 E la porta vecchia edificorono Ioiada [figliuolo di] Fasea e Mosollam figliuolo di Besodia; costoro la coprirono, e (edificorono e) feceno le sue porte e le chiavature e le stanghe.
7 Next to them repairs were carried out by Melatiah of Gibeon, Jadon of Meronoth, and the men ofGibeon and Mizpah, for the sake of the governor of Transeuphrates.	7 E appo loro edificò Meltia Gabaonite e Iadon Meronatite, uomini di Gabaon e Masfa, per lo governatore lo quale era nella regione di là dal fiume.
8 Next to them repairs were carried out by Uzziel son of Harhaiah, a member of the metal-workers' guild,and next to him repairs were carried out by Hananiah of the perfumers' guild. These renovated the wall ofJerusalem as far as the Broad Wal .	8 E appo lui edificò Eziel figliuolo di Araia orefice; e appo lui edificò Anania figliuolo di uno aromatario; e lasciorono Ierusalem insino al muro della piazza più lata.
9 Next to them repairs were carried out by Rephaiah son of Hur, who was head of one half of the districtof Jerusalem.	9 E appo lui edificò Rafaia figliuolo di Ur, principe di una contrada di Ierusalem.
10 Next to them Jedaiah son of Harumaph carried out repairs opposite his own house; next to him repairswere carried out by Hattush son of Hashabneiah.	10 E appo lui edificò Iedaia figliuolo di Aromaf contro alla casa sua; e appo lui edificò Attus figliuolo di Asebonia.
11 Malchijah son of Harim and Hasshub son of Pahath-Moab repaired another section as far as theFurnace Tower.	11 E la metà della contrada edificò Melchia figliuolo di Erem, e Asub figliuolo di Faat Moab, e la torre de' forni.
12 Next to them repairs were carried out by Shal um son of Hal ohesh, head of the other half of thedistrict of Jerusalem, by him and his sons.	12 E appo lui edificò Sellum figliuolo di Aloes, principe della metà della contrada di Ierusalem, lui e le sue figliuole.
13 Hanun and the inhabitants of Zanoah repaired the Val ey Gate: they rebuilt it, hung its doors and fixedits bolts and bars; they also repaired a thousand cubits of wal up to the Dung Gate.	13 E la porta della valle edificò Anun e gli abitatori di Zanoe; costoro la edificorono, e fecero le sue porte e le chiavature e le stanghe, e mille cubiti nel muro persino alla porta delle brutture.
14 Malchijah son of Rechab, head of the district of Beth-ha-Cherem, repaired the Dung Gate; he rebuilt it,hung its doors and fixed its bolts and bars.	14 E la porta delle brutture edificò Melchia figliuolo di Recab, principe della contrada di Betacaram; lui la edificò, e fece le sue porte e le serrature e le stanghe sue.
15 Shallum son of Col-Hozeh, head of the district of Mizpah, repaired the Fountain Gate; he rebuilt it,roofed it, hung its doors and fixed its bolts and bars. He also rebuilt the wal of the Pool of Siloah, adjoining theking's garden, as far as the steps going down from the City of David.	15 E la porta della fonte edificò Sellum figliuolo di Coloza, principe della villa di Masfa; lui la edificò, e coprilla, e fece le sue porte e le chiavature e le stanghe, e il muro della piscina di Siloe nell'orto del re, e persino alli gradi (del re) che discendono della città di David.
16 After him, Nehemiah son of Azbuk, head of half the district of Beth-Zur, carried out repairs from a pointopposite the Davidic Tombs to the artificial pool and the House of the Champions.	16 E dopo lui edificò Neemia figliuolo di Azboc principe della metà della contrada di Betsur, persino contro allo sepolcro di David, e insino alla piscina la quale è uno magno e superbo edificio, e persino alla casa de' forti.
17 After him, repairs were carried out by the Levites: Rehum son of Bani; and next to him Hashabiah,head of one half of the district of Keilah, carried out repairs for his own district.	17 E dopo lui edificorono i Leviti, (e dopo lui) Reum figliuolo di Benni; e dopo lui edificò Asebia principe della metà della contrada di Ceila nella contrada sua.
18 After him, repairs were carried out by their brothers: Binnui son of Henadad, head of the other half ofthe district of Keilah.	18 E dopo lui edificorono li fratelli suoi, Bavai figliuolo di Enadad, principe della metà (della contrada) di Ceila.
19 Next to him, Ezer son of Jeshua, headman of Mizpah, repaired another section in front of the ascentto the armoury at the Angle.	19 Ed edificò appo lui Azer figliuolo di Iosue principe di Masfa, la misura seconda, verso il salimento dell' angolo fermissimo (della città)..
20 After him, Baruch son of Zabbai repaired another section from the Angle to the door of the house ofEliashib the high priest.	20 Dopo lui edificò nel monte Baruc figliuolo di Zacai la misura seconda (verso) dall' angolo persino alla porta della casa di Eliasib, lo grande sacerdote.
21 After him, Meremoth son of Uriah, son of Hakkoz, repaired another section from the door of Eliashib'shouse as far as the end of Eliashib's house.	21 Dopo lui edificò Merimut figliuolo di Uria figliuolo di Accus la seconda misura, dalla porta [della casa] di Eliasib persino che si estendesse la casa di Eliasib.
22 And after him repairs were carried out by the priests who lived in the district.	22 E dopo lui edificorono li sacerdoti, uomini de' piani del Giordano.
23 After them repairs were carried out by Benjamin and Hasshub, opposite their own house. After themrepairs were carried out by Azariah son of Maaseiah, son of Ananiah, beside his own house.	23 Dopo lui edificò Beniamin e Asub contro alla casa sua; dopo lui edificoe Azaria figliuolo di Maasta figliuolo di Anania contro alla casa sua.
24 After him, Binnui son of Henadad repaired another section from Azariah's house as far as the Angle atthe corner.	24 Dopo lui edificò Bennui figliuolo di Enadad la seconda misura, dalla casa di Azaria persino al descenso, insino all' angolo.
25 After him, Palal son of Uzai carried out repairs in front of the Angle and the tower projecting from theking's Upper Palace by the Court of the Guard; and after him, Pedaiah son of Parosh carried out the repairs	25 Fael figliuolo di Ozi [contra] il descenso e la torre, la qual sopra avanza della casa grande del re, cioè nel palazzo della prigione; dopo lui Fadaia figliuolo di Faros.
26 to a point by the Water Gate to the east and the projecting tower.	26 E li Natinei abitavano in Ofel insino contra alla porta delle acque alla parte d'oriente, e alla torre che soprastava.
27 After him, the men of Tekoa repaired another section from in front of the great projecting tower as faras the wal of Ophel.	27 E dopo lui edificorono i Teuceni la seconda misura della regione, della torre grande e alta persino al muro del tempio.
28 From the Horse Gate onwards repairs were carried out by the priests, each in front of his own house.	28 Dalla parte di sopra dalla porta de' cavalli edificorono i sacerdoti, ciascuno contro alla casa sua.
29 After them repairs were carried out by Zadok son of Immer in front of his house, and after him repairswere carried out by Shemaiah son of Shechaniah, keeper of the East Gate.	29 Dopo loro edificò Sedoc figliuolo di Emmer contro alla casa sua; e dopo lui edificò Semaia figliuolo di Sechenia, guardiano della porta orientale.
30 After him Hananiah son of Shelemiah and Hanun sixth son of Zalaph repaired another section, afterwhom repairs were carried out by Meshul am son of Berechiah in front of his room.	30 Dopo lui edificò Anania figliuolo di Selemia, e Anun figliuolo di Selef sesto, la seconda misura; dopo lui edificò Mosollam figliuolo di Barachia, contro il suo gazofilacio; dopo lui edificò Melchia figliuolo dell' orefice persino alla casa de' Natinei, e di quelli che vendeano le scuta contro alla porta giudiciale, e insino al cenacolo dell' angolo.
31 After him Malchijah, of the metal-workers' guild, repaired as far as the Hal of the temple slaves andmerchants, in front of the Muster Gate, as far as the upper room at the corner.	31 E fra il cenacolo dell' angolo alla porta degli animali edificorono gli orefici e li mercatanti.
32 And between the upper room at the corner and the Sheep Gate repairs were carried out by thegoldsmiths and the merchants.
33 When Sanballat heard that we were rebuilding the wal , he became furiously angry.
34 He ridiculed the Jews and in front of his kinsmen and the aristocracy of Samaria he exclaimed, 'Whatare these pathetic Jews doing . . . ? Are they going to give up? Or offer sacrifices? Or complete the work in aday? Can they put new life into stones taken from rubbish heaps and even charred?'
35 And beside him Tobiah of Ammon remarked, 'If a jackal were to jump on what they are building, itwould knock their stone wal down!'
36 Listen, our God, for we are despised! Make their sneers fal back on their own heads! Send them asbooty to a land of captivity!
37 Do not pardon their wickedness, may their sin never be erased before you, for they have insulted thebuilders to their face!
38 Meanwhile we were rebuilding the wal , which was soon joined up al the way round to mid-height; thepeople put their hearts into the work.
