1 After Ahab's death Moab rebel ed against Israel.	1 Après la mort d’Akab, Moab se révolta contre Israël.
2 Ahaziah had fal en from the balcony of his upper room in Samaria, and was lying il ; so he sentmessengers, saying to them, 'Go and consult Baal-Zebub god of Ekron and ask whether I shal recover from myil ness.'	2 Okozias tomba par la fenêtre de sa chambre haute à Samarie, et comme il n’était pas bien, il envoya des hommes en leur disant: “Allez consulter Baal-Zéboub, le dieu d’Ékron, pour savoir si je guérirai de mon mal.”
3 But the angel of Yahweh said to Elijah the Tishbite, 'Up! Go and intercept the king of Samaria'smessengers. Say to them, "Is there no God in Israel, for you to go and consult Baal-Zebub god of Ekron?	3 Mais l’ange de Yahvé dit à Élie de Tichbé: “Lève-toi et va à la rencontre des messagers du roi de Samarie. Tu leur diras: N’y a-t-il donc plus de Dieu en Israël? Pourquoi allez-vous consulter Baal-Zéboub, le dieu d’Ékron?
4 Yahweh says this: You will never leave the bed you have got into; you are certainly going to die." ' AndElijah set out.	4 Puisque c’est ainsi, dit Yahvé, tu ne descendras pas du lit sur lequel tu es monté: sache que tu vas mourir.” Et Élie s’éloigna.
5 The messengers returned to the king, who said, 'Why have you come back?'	5 Les messagers revinrent donc auprès du roi; il leur dit: “Pourquoi êtes-vous revenus?”
6 'A man came to meet us,' they answered. 'He said, "Go back to the king who sent you and tell him:Yahweh says this: Is there no God in Israel, for you to go and consult Baal-Zebub god of Ekron? For this, youwil never leave the bed you have got into; you are certainly going to die." '	6 Ils répondirent: “Un homme est venu à notre rencontre et il nous a dit: ‘Allez, retournez auprès du roi qui vous a envoyés, et redites-lui cette parole de Yahvé: N’y a-t-il donc plus de Dieu en Israël pour que tu ailles consulter Baal-Zéboub, le dieu d’Ékron? C’est pourquoi tu ne descendras pas du lit sur lequel tu es monté, tu mourras, c’est décidé!’ ”
7 He said, 'This man who met you and said al this, what was he like?'	7 Il leur dit: “Comment était cet homme qui est venu à votre rencontre et qui vous a dit tout cela?”
8 'A man wearing a hair cloak', they answered, 'and a leather loincloth.' 'It was Elijah the Tishbite,' he said.	8 Ils répondirent: “Cet homme portait un vêtement de peau, il avait une ceinture de cuir autour des reins.” Okozias s’exclama: “C’est Élie de Tichbé!”
9 He then sent a captain of fifty soldiers with his fifty men to Elijah, whom they found sitting on top of a hil ;the captain went up to him and said, 'Man of God, the king says, "Come down." '	9 Il envoya vers Élie 50 hommes avec leur chef, qui montèrent à sa recherche; il était assis au sommet de la montagne. Le chef lui cria: “Homme de Dieu, c’est un ordre du roi, descends!”
10 Elijah answered the captain, 'If I am a man of God, may fire fal from heaven and destroy both you andyour fifty men.' And fire fell from heaven and destroyed him and his fifty men.	10 Élie répondit au chef des 50: “Si je suis un homme de Dieu, que le feu du ciel descende et te dévore, toi et tes 50 hommes!” Et le feu du ciel descendit: il le dévora, lui et ses 50 hommes.
11 The king sent a second captain of fifty to him, again with fifty men, and he too went up and said, 'Manof God, this is the king's order, "Come down at once." '	11 De nouveau le roi envoya 50 hommes avec un autre chef; lui aussi cria: “Homme de Dieu, voici l’ordre du roi: Dépêche-toi de descendre!”
12 Elijah answered them, 'If I am a man of God, may fire fal from heaven and destroy both you and yourfifty men.' And lightning fel from heaven and destroyed him and his fifty men.	12 Élie répondit: “Si je suis un homme de Dieu, que le feu du ciel descende et qu’il te dévore, toi et tes 50 hommes!” Et le feu de Dieu descendit du ciel: il le dévora lui et ses 50 hommes.
13 The king then sent a third captain of fifty to him, with another fifty men. The third captain of fifty cameup to Elijah, fel on his knees before him and pleaded with him. 'Man of God,' he said, 'may my life and the livesof these fifty servants of yours count for something in your eyes.	13 Une troisième fois le roi envoya 50 hommes avec leur chef; arrivé près d’Élie, le troisième chef se mit à genoux et le supplia, il lui dit: “Homme de Dieu, je suis ton serviteur, que ma vie et celle de mes hommes compte un peu pour toi!
14 Fire has fal en from heaven and destroyed two captains of fifties and their companies, but this timemay my life count for something in your eyes!'	14 Le feu de Dieu est déjà descendu du ciel dévorer les deux premiers chefs avec leur 50 hommes, épargne ma vie à présent!”
15 The angel of Yahweh said to Elijah, 'Go down with him; do not be afraid of him.' He rose andaccompanied him down to the king,	15 Alors l’ange de Yahvé dit à Élie: “Descends avec lui, tu n’as rien à craindre de sa part.” Il se leva donc et descendit avec eux auprès du roi.
16 and said to him, 'Yahweh says this, "Since you sent messengers to consult Baal-Zebub god of Ekron,you wil never leave the bed you have got into; you are certainly going to die." '	16 Il lui dit: “Voici ce que dit Yahvé: Parce que tu as envoyé des messagers pour consulter Baal-Zéboub, le dieu d’Ékron, tu ne descendras pas du lit sur lequel tu es monté. Tu mourras: c’est décidé!”
17 And, in accordance with the word of Yahweh which Elijah had uttered, he died. Since he had no son,his brother Jehoram succeeded him, in the second year of Jehoram son of Jehoshaphat, king of Judah.	17 Okozias mourut en effet selon la parole de Yahvé qu’avait rapportée Élie. Joram, son frère, régna à sa place, car il n’avait pas de fils (c’était la deuxième année de Joram fils de Josaphat, roi de Juda).
18 The rest of the history of Ahaziah, and his career, is this not recorded in the Book of the Annals of theKings of Israel?	18 Le reste des actes d’Okozias, ce qu’il a fait, tout cela n’est-il pas écrit dans le Livre des Chroniques des rois d’Israël?
