Genesis 6

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLIA
1 When people began being numerous on earth, and daughters had been born to them,	1 Cuando la humanidad comenzó a multiplicarse sobre la haz de la tierra y les nacieron hijas,
2 the sons of God, looking at the women, saw how beautiful they were and married as many of them asthey chose.	2 vieron los hijos de Dios que las hijas de los hombres les venían bien, y tomaron por mujeres a las que preferían de entre todas ellas.
3 Yahweh said, 'My spirit cannot be indefinitely responsible for human beings, who are only flesh; let thetime al owed each be a hundred and twenty years.'	3 Entonces dijo Yahveh: «No permanecerá para siempre mi espíritu en el hombre, porque no es más que carne; que sus días sean 120 años.»
4 The Nephilim were on earth in those days (and even afterwards) when the sons of God resorted to thewomen, and had children by them. These were the heroes of days gone by, men of renown.	4 Los nefilim existían en la tierra por aquel entonces (y también después), cuando los hijos de Dios se unían a las hijas de los hombres y ellas les daban hijos: estos fueron los héroes de la antigüedad, hombres famosos.
5 Yahweh saw that human wickedness was great on earth and that human hearts contrived nothing butwicked schemes al day long.	5 Viendo Yahveh que la maldad del hombre cundía en la tierra, y que todos los pensamientos que ideaba su corazón eran puro mal de continuo,
6 Yahweh regretted having made human beings on earth and was grieved at heart.	6 le pesó a Yahveh de haber hecho al hombre en la tierra, y se indignó en su corazón.
7 And Yahweh said, 'I shal rid the surface of the earth of the human beings whom I created -- humanand animal, the creeping things and the birds of heaven -- for I regret having made them.'	7 Y dijo Yahveh: «Voy a exterminar de sobre la haz del suelo al hombre que he creado, - desde el hombre hasta los ganados, las sierpes, y hasta las aves del cielo - porque me pesa haberlos hecho.»
8 But Noah won Yahweh's favour.	8 Pero Noé halló gracia a los ojos de Yahveh.
9 This is the story of Noah: Noah was a good man, an upright man among his contemporaries, and hewalked with God.	9 Esta es la historia de Noé: Noé fue el varón más justo y cabal de su tiempo. Noé andaba con Dios.
10 Noah fathered three sons, Shem, Ham and Japheth.	10 Noé engendró tres hijos: Sem, Cam y Jafet.
11 God saw that the earth was corrupt and ful of lawlessness.	11 La tierra estaba corrompida en la presencia de Dios: la tierra se llenó de violencias.
12 God looked at the earth: it was corrupt, for corrupt were the ways of al living things on earth.	12 Dios miró a la tierra, y he aquí que estaba viciada, porque toda carne tenía una conducta viciosa sobre la tierra.
13 God said to Noah, 'I have decided that the end has come for al living things, for the earth is full oflawlessness because of human beings. So I am now about to destroy them and the earth.	13 Dijo, pues, Dios a Noé: «He decidido acabar con toda carne, porque la tierra está llena de violencias por culpa de ellos. Por eso, he aquí que voy a exterminarlos de la tierra.
14 Make yourself an ark out of resinous wood. Make it of reeds and caulk it with pitch inside and out.	14 Hazte un arca de maderas resinosas. Haces el arca de cañizo y la calafateas por dentro y por fuera con betún.
15 This is how to make it: the length of the ark is to be three hundred cubits, its breadth fifty cubits, andits height thirty cubits.	15 Así es como la harás: longitud del arca, trescientos codos; su anchura, cincuenta codos; y su altura, treinta codos.
16 Make a roof to the ark, building it up to a cubit higher. Put the entrance in the side of the ark, which isto be made with lower, second and third decks.	16 Haces al arca una cubierta y a un codo la rematarás por encima, pones la puerta del arca en su costado, y haces un primer piso, un segundo y un tercero.
17 'For my part I am going to send the flood, the waters, on earth, to destroy al living things having thebreath of life under heaven; everything on earth is to perish.	17 «Por mi parte, voy a traer el diluvio, las aguas sobre la tierra, para exterminar toda carne que tiene hálito de vida bajo el cielo: todo cuanto existe en la tierra perecerá.
18 But with you I shal establish my covenant and you wil go aboard the ark, yourself, your sons, yourwife, and your sons' wives along with you.	18 Pero contigo estableceré mi alianza: Entrarás en el arca tú y tus hijos, tu mujer y las mujeres de tus hijos contigo.
19 From al living creatures, from al living things, you must take two of each kind aboard the ark, to savetheir lives with yours; they must be a male and a female.	19 Y de todo ser viviente, de toda carne, meterás en el arca una pareja para que sobrevivan contigo. Serán macho y hembra.
20 Of every species of bird, of every kind of animal and of every kind of creature that creeps along theground, two must go with you so that their lives may be saved.	20 De cada especie de aves, de cada especie de ganados, de cada especie de sierpes del suelo entrarán contigo sendas parejas para sobrevivir.
21 For your part, provide yourself with eatables of al kinds, and lay in a store of them, to serve as foodfor yourself and them.'	21 Tú mismo procúrate toda suerte de víveres y hazte acopio para que os sirvan de comida a ti y a ellos.»
22 Noah did this; exactly as God commanded him, he did.	22 Así lo hizo Noé y ejecutó todo lo que le había mandado Dios.
