Leviticus 11

1 The LORD said to Moses and Aaron,	1 Il Signore disse a Mosè e ad Aronne:
2 "Speak to the Israelites and tell them: Of all land animals these are the ones you may eat:	2 "Parlate ai figli d'Israele: Questi sono gli animali che mangerete fra tutti quelli che sono sopra la terra:
3 any animal that has hoofs you may eat, provided it is cloven-footed and chews the cud.	3 ogni ruminante che ha lo zoccolo spaccato e l'unghia divisa.
4 But you shall not eat any of the following that only chew the cud or only have hoofs: the camel, which indeed chews the cud, but does not have hoofs and is therefore unclean for you;	4 Soltanto questi non mangerete fra i ruminanti e fra gli animali dallo zoccolo spaccato: il cammello, perché è ruminante, ma non ha lo zoccolo spaccato, è impuro per voi;
5 the rock badger, which indeed chews the cud, but does not have hoofs and is therefore unclean for you;	5 l'irace, perché è ruminante, ma non ha lo zoccolo spaccato, è impuro per voi;
6 the hare, which indeed chews the cud, but does not have hoofs and is therefore unclean for you; and the pig,	6 la lepre, perché è ruminante, ma non ha lo zoccolo spaccato, è impura per voi;
7 which does indeed have hoofs and is cloven-footed, but does not chew the cud and is therefore unclean for you.	7 il maiale, perché ha lo zoccolo spaccato e l'unghia divisa ma non è un ruminante, è impuro per voi.
8 Their flesh you shall not eat, and their dead bodies you shall not touch; they are unclean for you.	8 Non mangerete la loro carne e non toccherete i loro cadaveri; sono impuri per voi.
9 "Of the various creatures that live in the water, you may eat the following: whatever in the seas or in river waters has both fins and scales you may eat.	9 Fra tutti gli animali che si trovano nell'acqua questi mangerete: tutti quelli che hanno pinne e squame, nelle acque dei mari e dei fiumi;
10 But of the various creatures that crawl or swim in the water, whether in the sea or in the rivers, all those that lack either fins or scales are loathsome for you,	10 tutti quelli che non hanno pinne e squame, nei mari e nei fiumi, ogni biscia d'acqua e tutti gli esseri viventi che si trovano nell'acqua sono abominevoli per voi.
11 and you shall treat them as loathsome. Their flesh you shall not eat, and their dead bodies you shall loathe.	11 Essi sono abominevoli e non mangerete della loro carne e terrete in abominio i loro cadaveri.
12 Every water creature that lacks fins or scales is loathsome for you.	12 Tutti gli animali acquatici che non hanno pinne e squame sono un abominio per voi.
13 "Of the birds, these you shall loathe and, as loathsome, they shall not be eaten: the eagle, the vulture, the osprey,	13 Questi considererete abominevoli fra gli uccelli e non mangerete perché sono un abominio: l'aquila, l'ossifraga e la strige,
14 the kite, the various species of falcons,	14 il nibbio e le varie specie di rapaci;
15 the various species of crows,	15 le varie specie di corvi;
16 the ostrich, the nightjar, the gull, the various species of hawks,	16 lo struzzo, la civetta, il gabbiano e le varie specie di sparvieri;
17 the owl, the cormorant, the screech owl,	17 il gufo, il martin pescatore e l'ibis;
18 the barn owl, the desert owl, the buzzard,	18 il cigno e il pellicano e la fòlaga;
19 the stork, the various species of herons, the hoopoe, and the bat.	19 la cicogna, le varie specie di aironi, l'upupa e il pipistrello.
20 "The various winged insects that walk on all fours are loathsome for you.	20 Ogni insetto alato che cammina su quattro zampe è un abominio per voi.
21 But of the various winged insects that walk on all fours you may eat those that have jointed legs for leaping on the ground;	21 Soltanto questi mangerete fra tutti gli insetti alati che camminano su quattro zampe: quelli che hanno due zampe sopra i piedi per saltare sopra la terra;
22 hence of these you may eat the following: the various kinds of locusts, the various kinds of grasshoppers, the various kinds of katydids, and the various kinds of crickets.	22 fra di essi potrete mangiare: ogni specie di locuste, ogni specie di cavallette, ogni specie di grilli e ogni specie di acridi.
23 All other winged insects that have four legs are loathsome for you.	23 Ogni altro insetto alato che ha quattro zampe è un abominio per voi.
24 "Such is the uncleanness that you contract, that everyone who touches their dead bodies shall be unclean until evening,	24 Da questi animali contrarrete impurità; chiunque toccherà i loro cadaveri sarà impuro fino a sera;
25 and everyone who picks up any part of their dead bodies shall wash his garments and be unclean until evening.	25 chiunque solleva il loro cadavere lavi le sue vesti; resta impuro fino a sera.
26 All hoofed animals that are not cloven-footed or do not chew the cud are unclean for you; everyone who touches them becomes unclean.	26 Tutti gli animali che hanno lo zoccolo spaccato, ma la cui unghia non è divisa e non sono ruminanti, sono impuri per voi; chiunque li tocca contrae impurità.
27 Of the various quadrupeds, all those that walk on paws are unclean for you; everyone who touches their dead bodies shall be unclean until evening,	27 Fra i quadrupedi, qualsiasi animale che cammina sulla pianta dei piedi è impuro per voi; chiunque ne tocca il cadavere resta impuro fino a sera;
28 and everyone who picks up their dead bodies shall wash his garments and be unclean until evening. Such is their uncleanness for you.	28 chi ne solleva il cadavere lavi le sue vesti; resta impuro fino a sera. Sono animali impuri per voi.
29 "Of the creatures that swarm on the ground, the following are unclean for you: the rat, the mouse, the various kinds of lizards,	29 Fra gli animali che strisciano sopra la terra sono impuri per voi: la talpa, il topo e ogni specie di lucertola;
30 the gecko, the chameleon, the agama, the skink, and the mole.	30 il geco, il toporagno, il ramarro, la tartaruga e il camaleonte.
31 Among the various swarming creatures, these are unclean for you. Everyone who touches them when they are dead shall be unclean until evening.	31 Questi sono impuri per voi fra gli animali striscianti; chiunque li tocca, quando sono morti, resta impuro fino a sera.
32 Everything on which one of them falls when dead becomes unclean. Any such article that men use, whether it be an article of wood, cloth, leather or goat hair, must be put in water and remain unclean until evening, when it again becomes clean.	32 Qualsiasi cosa su cui cadessero quando sono morti è impura; qualsiasi utensile di legno o vestito o pelle o sacco, qualsiasi utensile con cui si lavora sia messo nell'acqua; resta impuro fino a sera e poi è considerato puro.
33 Should any of these creatures fall into a clay vessel, everything in it becomes unclean, and the vessel itself you must break.	33 Qualsiasi recipiente di argilla entro cui cada uno di questi animali: tutto ciò che c'è dentro è impuro e il recipiente lo romperete.
34 Any solid food that was in contact with water, and any liquid that men drink, in any such vessel become unclean.	34 Qualsiasi commestibile su cui cada quell'acqua è impuro, e ogni bevanda in qualsiasi recipiente si trovi, è impura.
35 Any object on which one of their dead bodies falls, becomes unclean; if it is an oven or a jar-stand, this must be broken to pieces; they are unclean and shall be treated as unclean by you.	35 Qualsiasi cosa su cui cada un loro cadavere è impura: forno e fornello siano distrutti: sono impuri e impuri siano considerati da voi.
36 However, a spring or a cistern for collecting water remains clean; but whoever touches the dead body becomes unclean.	36 Però le fonti, i pozzi e i bacini d'acqua saranno puri. Chi tocca i loro cadaveri diventa impuro.
37 Any sort of cultivated grain remains clean even though one of their dead bodies falls on it;	37 Se un loro cadavere cade su una qualsiasi specie di semente da seminare, la semente resta pura;
38 but if the grain has become moistened, it becomes unclean when one of these falls on it.	38 se è stata versata dell'acqua sulla semente e cade su di essa un loro cadavere, la semente è impura per voi.
39 "When one of the animals that you could otherwise eat, dies of itself, anyone who touches its dead body shall be unclean until evening;	39 Se muore un animale di cui vi potete cibare, chi tocca il cadavere è impuro fino a sera.
40 and anyone who eats of its dead body shall wash his garments and be unclean until evening; so also, anyone who removes its dead body shall wash his garments and be unclean until evening.	40 Chi mangia di questo cadavere lavi le sue vesti; resta impuro fino a sera; chi trasporta tale cadavere lavi le sue vesti; resta impuro fino a sera.
41 "All the creatures that swarm on the ground are loathsome and shall not be eaten.	41 Ogni animale che striscia sopra la terra è un abominio: non mangiatelo.
42 Whether it crawls on its belly, goes on all fours, or has many legs, you shall eat no swarming creature: they are loathsome.	42 Tutti gli animali che camminano sul ventre, che camminano su quattro o più zampe o che strisciano sopra la terra non mangiateli, ché sono cosa abominevole.
43 Do not make yourselves loathsome or unclean with any swarming creature through being contaminated by them.	43 Non rendetevi abominevoli con un qualsiasi animale strisciante e non contaminatevi con essi così da diventare impuri.
44 For I, the LORD, am your God; and you shall make and keep yourselves holy, because I am holy. You shall not make yourselves unclean, then, by any swarming creature that crawls on the ground.	44 Io infatti sono il Signore Dio vostro! Santificatevi e siate santi, perché io sono santo. Non contaminatevi con qualsiasi animale strisciante sopra la terra.
45 Since I, the LORD, brought you up from the land of Egypt that I might be your God, you shall be holy, because I am holy.	45 Sì; io sono il Signore che vi ha fatto uscire dalla terra d'Egitto per essere vostro Dio. Siate santi perché io sono santo!".
46 "This is the law for animals and birds and for all the creatures that move about in the water or swarm on the ground,	46 Questa è la legge relativa alle bestie terrestri, agli uccelli e a ogni animale che si muove nell'acqua e a ogni animale che striscia sopra la terra.
47 that you may distinguish between the clean and the unclean, between creatures that may be eaten and those that may not be eaten."	47 Ciò ha lo scopo di separare l'impuro dal puro, gli animali che si possono mangiare da quelli che non è lecito mangiare.
